"Died - At St. Joseph's hospital in Denver Thursday,
January 11, 1900, Miss Kate Isom, niece of Major
N. A. Isom, aged 36 years. Miss Isom came here from Crystal
Springs, Miss., last summer intending to make her
permanent home in the north and took up her residence with
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Davis of Merino.
She was afflicted with a tumor and was taken to the
hospital named. An operation was performed, but she only
survived it twenty-five hours. The remains were brought
here last evening from Denver, and the funeral was held
from the residence of W. I. Brush, Rev. J. Wood Stone
officiating. The remains were followed to their resting
place at Riverview cemetery by a large number of sorrowing
relatives and friends. The Democrat joins the public in
extending condolences."

September 19, 1907 "Last evening at 8 o'clock at the
residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Davis,
in Sterling, Mr. Lisle Whitney and Miss Avah Davis were
united in marriage in the presence of about fifty invited
guests, Rev. J. E. Aubrey officiating. The happy couple
were the recipients of many beautiful presents and the
best wishes of a host of friends were showered upon them,
making the eyent a very happy one.
The bride was b6rn and raised in Logan county,
is popular in social and religious circles,
and has many warm friends. Mr. Whitney is not so
well known in Logan county, but is highly spoken of by
those who know him, and has a position at LaSalle as
operator for the U. P. R. R. company, where he and his
bride will make their home in the future.
Mr. and Mrs. Whitney left on the early train this
morning for California, and will visit for awhile in
Kansas on their return before taking up their residence
at La Salle. The Republican-Advocate extends best wishes."
"Public Sale - Feb. 24, 1909 - C. R. Cunningham, stock,
implements, household goods, seed oats, seed potatoes,
on Hugh Davis’ farm, 1 1/2 miles east of Merino."
December 8, 1909 "At the pleasant home of Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Davis last Tuesday evening occurred, with most
beaulful ceremony, the marriage of Mr. Frank Morrell to
Miss Lizzie Davis, the Rev. B. G. Mitchell officiating.
The house was decorated with white carnations, smilax
and wedding bells. The bride was gowned in white net over
silk, trimmed elaborately with lace and insertion.
She carried a beautiful bouquet of bride's roses.
There were several out-of-town guests, intimate
friends and relatives of the bride and groom.
A large number of beautiful presents were received,
having been previously sent to the home of the bride's
mother. After the wedding dainty refreshments were served
to the guests.
The newlyweds took an early morning train for the
East. Before returning to Sterling, where they
expect to make their future home, they will go to
St. Joe and several other places on a honeymoon trip.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Davis
and is a young woman of grace and culture as
well as cheerful disposition. The groom, now
traveling for n hardware firm, is well known and
well liked by the people of Sterling.
Mr. and Mrs. Morrell have the best wishes of a
large circle of friends for their future happiness
and success."
