MOTHER CHARLOTTE GOODING

In 1860 Stark County, Illinois, John Gooding is farming, 40, Charlotte 34, with Charlotte A., 13, Elizabeth 8, Lavina 6, Almira 5, Seremus L. 3, and Emily seven months.  Charlotte A. was born in England, the other kids in Illinois, so they must have immigrated 1848-1852.

 In 1880 Knox County, Missouri, Charlotte Gooding is 54, George 18, Walter W. 16, and Edward S. 14.- all farming, and the three sons born in Illinois.

Charlotte Williams proved up on a quarter in 17, 8N 48W in 1894.

In 1900 Boulder County, E.S. Gooding, born May 1864 in Illinois, is a salesman in a store, sister A. Gooding April 1854 in Illinois is a school teacher, and Charlotte Williams April 1826 in England is their mother.

In 1910 Canfield, Boulder County, Elizabeth Phillips is 58, widowed, born in Illinois, and mother Charlotte Gooding is with her.

Charlotte is in the 1910 census twice, the other entry in Erie, Weld County, where she's the head. Armina 54 and Edward Thomas Gooding, 44, have no occupations.

GEORGE married Emma Campbell, whose parents David and Elmina Campbell settled in 8N 48W.

Edward proved up a quarter in 21, 8N 48W in 1894.  

GEORGE

George W. Gooding proved up a quarter in 10, 9N 45W in in 1894 - that's Sedgwick County, about forty miles away

On January 17, 1897 in St. Anthony, Fremont County, Idaho, John David Gooding was born to George Wesley Gooding and Emma Frances Campbell.

In 1900 Boulder County George born Dec 1862, married 12 years to Emma born Sept 1870, both Illinois, have Alice Sep 1893 Colorado, John Jan 1897 Idaho, and Clara Aug 1899 Colorado.  Brother William, Dec 1864 Illinois is also with them.

GOODING-- At his home near Pleasant View church, Wednesday, June 24, 1903, George Wesley Gooding, aged 41 years, 6 months and 12 days.
The funeral services will be held at the Pleasant View church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon and all members of the Woodmen of the World are requested to attend, Mr. Gooding being a member of that fraternity. He leaves a wife and several children. 60882512

So is John D. - Jan 17, 1897- Jun 9, 1964.

In 1910 Longmont, Emma is widowed, (own income) with  the three kids.

 The residence at 819 6th Avenue is an angular 1.5 story wood frame dwelling. Constructed in 1909, the main original portion of the house measures 29’ N-S (deep) by 24’ E-W (across). Built in 1909, this house was originally owned and occupied by Hugh C. and Marie C. Wheaton. 
 
In the late 1910s, this property was owned by the Longmont Realty Company, represented by C.E. Sharman. By 1918, it had also become the home of Emma F. Gooding. She later purchase the property and lived here until the late 1950s. Born in 1870, Emma had come to Longmont in 1900, with her husband George W. Gooding. George passed away in 1903, leaving Emma to raise their three children, Clara,  John and Alice. Mrs. Gooding remained widowed for the remainder of her life. She passed away in Longmont on August 18, 1963 at the age of 93. She was survived by her three children, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.

 

In 1911 Emma filed for minors Alice May Gooding, John David Gooding, and Clara Myrtle Gooding for their interest in eighty acres in 24, 2N 69W.

In 1920 Longmont Emma has no occupation, Alice is a teacher, and Clara a stenographer.  Clara was repeatedly approved as a notary, per the Colorado state records.

Alice M. Gooding married Claude M. Clinton May 4, 1920, recorded in Boulder County.

John D. Gooding married Jeannette Eddings Dec 25, 1917, recorded in Boulder County.

In 1930 Emma is still in Longmont, Clara a stenographer, and John D. an agent for a roofing company, married to Jeanette R. 30, with Ralph E. 5 and Helen 3.

ARMINA

Armina proved up a quarter in 18, 8N 48W in 1892.

In August 1896 Armina Gooding was appointed the postmaster in Canfield, Boulder County. -

She's listed in the 1923 Boulder city directory,   in the 1924 Pasadena, California directory, and the 1926 Altadena, California directory as Miss Armina Gooding.

WALTER / WILLIAM

Walter cash-claimed a quarter in 18, 8N 48W in 1890.

Walter W. Gooding also proved up a quarter in 11N 65W (Weld County) in 1913.

Walter W. Gooding married Dora Taylor Oct 10, 1916, recorded in Denver County.

In 1920 Weld County "William"  W. Gooding, 56, born in Illinois, and Dora O. 44, Kansas, have step-daughters Louise M. 16 Oregon, Gladys e. 12 New Mexico, and Mildred 10, New Mexico.

W.W. is in Adams County in 1920, 66, married but no spouse.

Dora O. Gooding died July 27, 1943 in Seattle, Washington.

ELIZABETH

In 1910 Canfield, Boulder County, Elizabeth Phillips is 58, widowed, born in Illinois, and mother Charlotte Gooding is with her.  Elizabeth had married Oliver Phillips, and in 1880 Siskiyou County California, Oliver was 58, Elizabeth 28, with Emily 2.

 

Elizabeth proved up a quarter in 17, 8N 48W in 1892.  

Charles R. Boehme married Emma J. Phillips Jun 14, 1903, recorded in Logan County.

Emily Boehme was in Logan County in 1910, 32, married to Charles R. Boehme, 41, with Ella Grace 5, Alvin E.3, and Willetta H. nine months.

PIONEER OF NORTHEASTERN COLORADO LAID TO REST MONDAY

Charles R. Boehme was born in Illinois January 5, 1869. He later lived in Nebraska, and moved with his parents to Colorado in 1888, where his father homesteaded in the Cedar Valley, north of Sterling. Mr. Boehme homesteaded near Dailey in 1904, where his home had been since.

On the 14th of June, 1903, he was married to Emma J. Phillips of Haxtun. Mrs. Boehme died February 11, 1914, leaving five children, all of whom are living. Mr. Boehme died after a long illness. He is survived by his aged mother and five sisters.

The deceased was a member of the Haxtun Methodist church. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon, interment being in the Haxtun cemetery.

FindAGrave 60882524 says that a Walter W. Gooding, no marker, no dates, is buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Longmont Colorado   - block B, L047.
