David H. Campbell, Frank Campbell

In 1850 Adams County, Illinois, David Campbell is 13, with William 41 and Elizabeth 39, both born in Kentucky.

Siblings are Francis M. 16, George W. 14, Rebecca 11, Henry 9, William 8, Elizabeth 5, and John Campbell.  Rebecca Campbell, 73, Virginia, is also with them.  (Rebecca Campbell married Alfred Nations Jan 19, 1860 in Adams County)

Alzina Nations is also in Adams County in 1850, 9, with David 48 and Alley 42 Nations.  SIblings are Rhody 20, Polly 18, George 17, Adaline 16, Alfred 12, Gilbert 10, Caroline 6, Jackson 4,  and John W. 2.  Lovica Nations, 75 is alwo with hthem.

In 1870 Adams County, Illinois, David H. "Cambell" is 33, born in Illinois, with "Alsina"  28, Missouri.  They have Douglass 9, and Emma 1, both Illinois.
In 1880 Adams County, David is 42,  Alice 40 Kentucky, with Stephen D. 19, John 9, Frank 6, Josephine 3, and Emma 10., all kids born in Illinois. 

David timber-claimed a quarter in 11, 8N 48W in 1900.

In 1900 Logan County David H. Campbell born Jan 1837 in Illinois has been married 30 years to Elzima Jan 1842,  Missouri, and Frank Aug 1874 Illinois is with them.  So are Josie 23 and Mary E. Hicks, 2.  On the same census page are Anthony and Lucy Hicks, married twelve years, with Bessie Jan 1889, Agness May 1890, Stella Mar 1892 - the three girls born in Iowa, James Oct 1893 and John H. Jan 1896 Colorado.

In 1930 Haxtun Anthony is widowed, a laborer.  Esther M. 25 no occupation and Patricia M. 23, a store clerk, are with him.

Anthony is living alone in 1940 Haxtun.

Anthony 1858-1944 and Lucy Thresa (Kelley) Hicks 1870-1929 are buried in Haxtun.

  Esther died September 1971.

In 1910 Logan County, David is widowed, boarding with Anthony P. 42 and Lucy Hicks 41 and their three kids.  Also with them is niece Mary 12 and nephew William 9 Campbell - with the Campbell crossed out. 

Elzina - Jan 11, 1842 - Jun 13, 1902 is buried in Haxtun.

David - 1837- July 4, 1917 is also buried there.

 

In 1900 Shoshone County, Idaho, John G. Hicks, Oct 1870 Kentucky,  and Josie,  May 1879, Illinois, run a restaurant,.  They've been married two years. So Josie is in two states for the 1900 census.

Josie Hicks and John Hicks divorced in 1904 in Logan County.

Mary Elizabeth Hicks married Emmett M. Fisher Aug 24, 1919, recorded in Phillips County.

In 1940 Great Bend, Kansas, Emmett  43, Missouri, and Mary E. 42 Colorado have Myron H. 19, born in Colorado.  They're living with father Henry A . Fisher, 80, born in Missouri.

 

In 1969 Great Bend Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett M. Fisher observed their golden wedding anniversary.  Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ernre Stoneclphor and Mr. and Mrs. William A Bartholomew, nephews of the couple, of Oklahoma City,  William Bartholomew Jr., John Bartholomew and Sharon Bartholomew, Gary Thomas, all of Oklahoma City, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bortz, Galon and Gale, Lincoln Neb.; Mr.  and Mrs. E.W. HARRY FARNER DIED FOLLOWING SEVERE ILLNESS
 
Was Prominent Farmer in This Community for 30 Years; Funeral Last Friday
 
H.E. Farner, a resident of the Haxtun community for more than thirty years, passed away at his home last Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Farner had been ailing in health for several months, and he had suffered several attacks of serious illness.
 
The deceased came to Phillips County with his parents in 1901, and had been engaged in farming since the early days in this section. Mr. Farner was a highly respected citizen of the community.
 
The following obituary was read at the funeral services, which were held last Friday:
 
Harry Emert Farner was born at Latham, IL, May 12, 1875, and passed away at his home northwest of Haxtun, September 19, 1934; age 59 years, four months and seven days; from an illness of several months, which he endured with the utmost patience with never a word of complaint.
 
Harry Farner was the fourth child of George and Phelina Farner. He, with his parents resided in Illinois until the year of 1892, when they moved to a farm near Hastings, NE. In 1901, the family moved to Haxtun, CO when this section was in the course of its early development, and he has endured the hardships of the early pioneers in a new country.
 
His father and mother preceded him in death several years ago; also two sisters, Florence and Alice, and one brother, Irvin.
 
The remaining sisters and brothers are: Mrs. Arthur Van Every, of Hastings, NE, Mrs. Frank Campbell, Howard and Fred Farner, all of Haxtun and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Harry Farner was a man who loved his fellowman and his greatest pleasure in life was found in service to others, in which his entire lifetime was spent.
 
He never affiliated with any church, but his daily life was that of a conscientious christian; he was always a thoughtful son and brother, a beloved neighbor and a friend of all who knew him, and will be greatly missed by all.
 
Funeral services were conducted at the Brethren Church by the pastor, Rev. I.C. Snavely. Interment in the Haxtun Cemetery.

she was born in Quincy Illinois and died in San Diego California in 1955. She is buried next to her husband, Frank, in Haxtun Colorado where they lived most of their lives.

Ada Grace Campbell, b. 6-22-1906, married Harry David Jones, She died in 2002 in Ventura, California 

Byron Campbell, b. 1908, married Gertrude Calkins, He died about 1969

Merle Dean Campbell, b. 3-6-1923, married: Marian Louise Duff in 1947. He died about 1983

 

Priscilla Jones wrote "Searching for ancestors of David Campbell. He married Elzina Nation, sister of David Campbell who married the infamous, Carrie Nation. (there were two David Nation's - the Kansas one who married Carrie, and the David who was in Illinois).  David and Elzina traveled by covered wagon to Colorado sometime after the civil war and settled in Haxtun where he died in 1839. (sic).   Searching for info on David H. Campbell born january 22, 1839, Died July 4, 1916 in Haxtun Colorado, married to Elzina Nation. He served in the civil war.

Gooding proved up a quarter in 9N 45W in 1894- Sedgwick County.  George and Emma Gooding are in Boulder County in 1900 - son John Gooding was born Jan 17, 1897 in St. Anthony, Fremont County, Idaho to George Wesley Gooding 36 and Emma Frances Campbell, 28, both born in Illinois..  Emma A. 1869- 1963 and George W. 1861-1903 are buried in Longmont.  John died Jun 9, 1964 in San Bernardino, California, and is buried in Longmont.
