January 1913 Sterling "After wandering about,
almost clothesless for several hours, in the cold out of
doors, Robert Tucker, the victim of a delirium caused
from a mallgnant form of the mumps, was found at the
Perkins residence by R. C. Perkins and taken back to his
room at the Hague house by Sheriff Emery and Deputy
Patterson.
About a week ago, Mr. Tucker, who at the time
was rooming at the Ohio house, contracted tbe mumps,
and as his condition grew worse he was taken
to the Hague house and there under the care of a
trained nurse.
Thursday evening he seemed much improved,
and after administering to the patient's wants,
the nurse left him, however, locking the door,
she went.
The next morning Mr. Tucker became delerious and escaped from his room through tbe
window. He wandered about town, almost naked, and exposed to the severe cold,
until he called at the J. L. Schubert residence where he secured a coat and hat.
After leavlng the Schubert home he went to the R. C. Perkins ranch, where he was
found in an almost unconscious and frozen condition by Mr. Perkins, who took him in
and warmed him. The sheriff and his assistant were notified, who immediately arrived
on the scene and took the sick man in charge.
Mr. Tucker was taken to his room as qulckly as
possible in Sam Patterson*s automobile, and
there given all the medical aid possible. Today he
much improved, and according to the doctor's roport,
will recover. "
