"Mrs. Emma Whelden, wife of Wm. Whelden,
died at 7:40 Sunday evening, 84 years,
4 months and 15 days. The deceased was born at
Everett, Michigan, November ll, 1878, the only
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Livingston. When
three years of age she moved with her parents to
Nebraska, later coming to Colorado,
locating between Sterling and Atwood. On the
28th of October, 1896 she was married to Mr. Wm.
Whelden of near Atwood, and about three years
ago moved to Brush. To this union were born
four children, two boys and two girls.
Her illness was of short duration and her
death came as a sudden and sad blow to the
family and her friends.
She was a graduate of the Sterling schools
and a member of the M. E. church and her life
was a noble exposition of high Christian
character, a loving wife and mother, making
thg home cheerful and happy. As she lived,
so she died and passed beyond the
twilight's purple hills, leaving a life
fragrant with goodness.
The deceased leaves to mourn her loss,
a husband and four children,
and a father and mother, to whom the
people of this community extend their
kindest sympathy.
The funeral services were held in
the Methodist church at 3 p.m. today,
Rev. H. D. Seckner preaching the sermon.
The remains were buried in the Brush cemetery."

The funeral of Mrs. Joseph Lee, who died at her home in this city on Wednesday morning of pneumonia, occurred yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the First Baptist church. Rev. Davis officiated and the sermon was a particularly touching and impressive one.
Owing to the intense cold it was impossible to excavate a grave in the frozen ground, and the remains were placed in the receiving vault until the weather moderates.
The deceased lived in Cheyenne for a long time and made many friends. She leaves a loving husband and four children to mourn her sad end.
Mr. Lee and children desire to very gratefully thank all those who so kindly assisted them in their sad affliction..
