"Mrs. Emma Whelden, wife of Wm. Whelden, died at 7:40 Sunday evening, 84 years, 4 months and 15 days. The deceased was born at Everett, Michigan, November ll, 1878, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Livingston. When three years of age she moved with her parents to Nebraska, later coming to Colorado, locating between Sterling and Atwood. On the 28th of October, 1896 she was married to Mr. Wm. Whelden of near Atwood, and about three years ago moved to Brush. To this union were born four children, two boys and two girls.
Her illness was of short duration and her death came as a sudden and sad blow to the family and her friends.
She was a graduate of the Sterling schools and a member of the M. E. church and her life was a noble exposition of high Christian character, a loving wife and mother, making thg home cheerful and happy. As she lived, so she died and passed beyond the twilight's purple hills, leaving a life fragrant with goodness.
The deceased leaves to mourn her loss, a husband and four children, and a father and mother, to whom the people of this community extend their kindest sympathy.
The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at 3 p.m. today, Rev. H. D. Seckner preaching the sermon. The remains were buried in the Brush cemetery."

The funeral of Mrs. Joseph Lee, who died at her home in this city on Wednesday morning of pneumonia, occurred yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the First Baptist church. Rev. Davis officiated and the sermon was a particularly touching and impressive one.
Owing to the intense cold it was impossible to excavate a grave in the frozen ground, and the remains were placed in the receiving vault until the weather moderates.
The deceased lived in Cheyenne for a long time and made many friends. She leaves a loving husband and four children to mourn her sad end.
Mr. Lee and children desire to very gratefully thank all those who so kindly assisted them in their sad affliction..

"Joe Lee, the well known janitor of the Union block on Sixteenth street, died very suddenly yesterday afternoon at his rooms. Five minutes before the end came he conversed with his little boy, when he was seized with an attack of heart paralysis almost instantly.
Mr. Lee was a member of the Woodmen of the World and Troop A. He leaves four children ranging in age from three to fifteen years. His wife died about nine months ago in this city and doubtless a guardian will be appointed for the little ones,
The funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 from the Baptist church, and will be in charge of the Woodmen of the World."
