Mr. Hughes is editor of the Record at Deep River and visited in Colorado in the summer, accompanied by hie wife. "

Born Nov. 29, 1879, at Keswick, Mrs. Hughes had assisted and operated a weekly newspaper at Norway for many years before coming to Cedar Rapids. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. W. D. Hatfield of Cedar Rapids; a son, Jesse D. Hughes of Columbia, S.C.; her mother, Louisa J. Green, and two brothers, Orlan Green and Wilbur Green, all of What Cheer; a brother, Edwin Green, and a sister, Sylvia Thatcher, both of Oskaloosa; a sister, Mrs. Gail Smith of Waukegan, Ill.; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted in the Beatty-Beurle Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Norway Cemetery."

He was a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church, and church treasurer from 1956 to 1971. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Kibler Hughes, a daughter, Mrs. Linda Kay Stout of Wilmington, N.C., a son, Don Hughes, of Columbia, and three grandchildren."
