March 1908 Sterling " E. E. Howe, formerly of Sterling, has in a great measure recovered his health. He is at his old home in New York. Not long ago he fell from a building and broke a leg but it is nearly well again."
September 1908 "E. E. Howe is pursued by his usual bad luck in his old home in
New York. Shortly after he went there, a scaffold he was standing on gave way and fell,
and he sustained a broken ankle, and for six months went on crutches.
When his uncle, Chas. Howe, left he was able to walk
with one crutch but it is probable he will be crippled all his life.
Mr. Chas. Howe was in from his ranch on the Pawnee on Saturday. While in New York
he suffered severely from heart, and is still unable to work,
though he looks better than he has for years. Like all those who go to their old
homes in the east, he is better satisfied with Logan county than
he was before he went away."

"The funeral of Mrs Everett Howe was very largely attended Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Castle, Rev A. E. Potter officiating. Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Howe came here from New York Mills, several weeks ago to make her sister, Mrs. Castle, a visit. Her health had been poorly for some time and she with her husband, had decided to go to Arizona to live. They had disposed of some of their household goods and she came here for a visit before leaving for the West. After coming here she began to fail and gradually grew weaker until the end came Saturday morning. She was 46 years of age and was a native of this town. She leaves no family except her husband, who has the sympathy of many friends. She is survived by three sisters: Mrs. E. A, Castle of this town, Mrs. Julia Devereaux of New York Mills and Mrs. Mary Flood of Boulder, Mont., and one brother, Henry Devereaux of California."
