The Julesburg newspaper said it was Frank Dahlenberg, and " Mr. Dahlenberg is in a critical condition. When Dr. Chipman made an examination immediately upon his arrival, he found that the broken bone protruded through the flesh several inches, and the limb was frozen. It is hardly probable that the limb can be saved, and there are grave doubts of Mr. Dahlenberg being able to withstand the effect of the exposure at his advanced age." .

September 16, 1948 Curtis, Nebraska "Frank M. Dahlenburg, 81, died at his home in Curtis last Friday. Funeral services were held in the First church and at the Curtis cemetery, Rev. Roger Manners officiated. Mrs. Harvey Nelsoir sang two vocal solos, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Watkins.
Frank Martin Dahlenburg, son of Frank and Sophia Dahlenburg, was born at Cleveland, Ohio, Feb. 10, 1887. His boyhood was spent in Cleveland, where he attended the public schools. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. At the age of 18 they moved to Colorado, where they took up a homestead, and were one of the few families to stay with their land in the difficult years. He was employed for years, and was then transferred by the B. & Q. railroad for 8 years, and was then transferred to Somerset, Nebraska for a year.
He came to Curtis In 1913, and has lived here ever since, working for the railroad for five years, and later working with a dray, and serving as night marshall of Curtis for a number of years. The past two years he has been retired, and living quietly at home, where he passed from this life, Sept 10. He is survived by his widow, one son, M. Dahlenburg of Scotia, California, and one daughter, Mrs. Esther Churchill; his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Neiman of Curtis, another daughter, Minnie, having preceded him in death; his brother, George of Willard, and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Bastian of Cleveland, Ohio and Mrs. Effie Wilson of Kalispell, Mont, as well as by other relatives and friends."
