1898 Sterling "Mrs. L. H. Prewitt returned to Merino this morning after a visit with her mother, Mrs. S. E. Smith, and other relatives and friends."

December 1899 "Emmet Smith and his mother, Mrs. S. E. Smith, of Fort Collins, are spending the holidays with relatives and old friends in this county. Emmet spent Xmas in Sterling, while Mrs. Smith remained at Merino, the guest of her daughter, Mrs. L. M. Prewitt."

January 1908 " E. O. Smith started Friday for California to get his wife. Mrs. Smith has been gone for the past two months visiting with her parents at her old home in sunny southern California near Los Angeles."

POSSIBLY in April 1908 Sterling "Mr. Taylor has sold to E. O. Smith his shop fixtures and building, all complete. Mr. Taylor and his family are going back to Grand River, Iowa, where he has some property which he could not dispose of to any advantage and he said he could not do business in two places. He could not sell there and he had a chance to sell here, so he decided he would sell and go back to his old home. We are sorry to aee them go away. The butcher shop will be kept open under the management of A. P. Horae."

April 1908 "Emmett O. Smith, Plaintiff, vs. Thomas Wilson, Victor P. Wilson, John Wilson, J. K. Wilson, Homer Wilson, K.P. Wilson, Mrs. L. W. Humlarger, Mrs. R. P. Blackburn. Mrs. C. L. Solomon ana David B. Delsell, Trustee, Defendants." This was to settle claims to some lots in Atwood.

April 1909 Merino itms "Mrs. E. O. Smith and son, Elmo, went to Sterling Friday on No. 11, returning Saturday. "

March 1910 Merino items "E. O. Smith and family have returned from an extensive trip throughout California. Mr. Smith’s mother did not return with them, and will spend the next several months’ in that section. "

Lura was in Weld County, Colorado in 1880 (at that time it included Logan County ). She's 14, with parents James A. Gragg, 40 farming, and Mary E. 34. Lizzie H. is 12, Clarence P. 10, Mamie 7, Irvin J. 5, and Clara P. 1.

James proved up a quarter in sections 21 and 22, 8N 52W in 1885.

James A. Gragg 1840-1911 is buried in Lompoc, California # 84731793, with Mary E. Gragg 1848-1929 # 84731795.

Robert William Smith, born Dec 13, 1862 in Tennessee, died April 29, 1959 in Los Angeles County.

May 1, 1959 Long Beach "Smith,Robert W., 95, of 540 Gardenia Ave., died Wednesday. Surviving are wife, Enrna; son, Vincent V.; daughter, Mrs. Lucille Poulsen; sister, Mrs. Pattie L. Prewitt. Service Saturday, 2 p.m.."

Lura G. Smith died Feb 27, 1931, age 64, in Los Angeles County.

September 1898 Sterling "S. E. Naugre stepped into the position vacated by Emmet Smith as clerk in W. C. Harris office. Mr. Neuigle will continue his law studies."

Pattie Prewitt is in Logan County, Colorado in 1900, born August 1867 in Mississippi. Her husband Lee Prewitt is a railway agent born Nov 1866 in Tennessee. Vernon Jan 1891 was born in Nebraska.

July 1900 "Mrs. Mattie P. Smith, mother of O. E. Smith, and A. P. Prewitt, his cousin, arrived from Grand Junction, Tenn., this morning for an extended visit with relatives. Mr. Prewitt, who is a cousin of U.P. agent Prewitt of Merino, is accompanied by his wife. They will remain here several weeks and return home by way of Manitou, if they do not become fascinated with our climate in the meantime and decide to take up their residence in Colorado."
