Harry Ray Harms age 92 went to be
with the Lord March 28, 2014. He was born in Fleming on November 13,
1921 to William and Susie (Fulford) Harms. He was the 6th child of 7.
Harry attended the Fleming School through the 8th grade. He married
Frances (Frankie) Olson in 1942. They spent a brief time in California
for wok. They then lived and farmed in the Daily, Crook and Fleming
areas. While living in Brush 1955-1957, Harry worked on well drilling
set-up crews. In 1957, the family moved to Fleming to farm again. They
were foster parents to many children. He was employed at the Fleming
School in charge of maintenance from 1958-1978. He joined the Logan
County Road and Bridge maintenance department in 1978 and worked there
until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, The Fleming Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Fleming City Council. Harry’s wife, Frances passed away in 1986. He met Arlene Seger and they were married October 10, 1987. Harry lived an uncompromised life of faith, his passion for Christ was unwavering even till his last breath. He enjoyed camping and fishing in the Rocky Mountains. Harry’s sense of humor and infectious laugh will always be remembered and he will be greatly missed by family and friends. Harry was preceded in death by his parents William and Susan, wife Frances and all of his siblings. Harry is survived by his wife Arlene, daughter Ruth Dunbar and husband Dan of Visalia, CA son Donald Harms and wife Daveda of Greeley. Also, Arlene’s children, Valerie and husband Ken of Elizabeth, Leland Seger, and the late Lynn Seger of Haxtun, Colorado. Harry leaved sixteen grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. In addition there are many beloved nieces and nephews. Remembrances can be made to Regent Park Nursing and Rehab or the Fleming Cemetery in Care of Gerk Funeral Home PO Box 486 Haxtun, Colorado 80731. Visitation for Harry will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Gerk Funeral Home in Haxtun from 9:00am-7:00pm. Celebration of Life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Haxtun, Colorado with grandson Harry Harms and Son Don Harms officiating on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 2:00pm. Internment will be at the Fleming Cemetery in Fleming Colorado. Gerk Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. |
