John A. Paxton, sister Olive B. Paxton

In 1900 John, born Oct 1884 in Kansas, and Ollie B. born Oct 1878 in Kansas, are with parents John W. and Elspay Paxton and seven other   siblings in Smith County, Kansas.

John is single in 1910 Logan County - next to Aaron Drollinger on the census page - farming alone.

April 23, 1913 Hutchinson, Kansas "Miss Amanda Paxton, bookkeeper at the Reno State bank, was called to northern Kansas by news of the death of her mother"  - so John and Olive's mother died in April 1913.

John proved up two quarters in 14 and 23, 6N 48W in 1914.  Witnesses were Aaron A. Drollinger, Eugene G. Eaton, Clyde R. Mort, and Ollie B. Paxton, all of Bryant.

John Addison Paxton registered in Smith County, born October 30, 1883- married to Eva Agnes Paxton.

In 1920 he's back in Smith County, married to Eva A. 32, born in Kansas.  They had Ray (FAY)  M. 8 in Kansas, Elmer M. (daughter) 6 in Colorado, Ralph A. 4 in Nebraska, and John W. 2 in Kansas.

In 1940 Denver John is a farmer, and he and Eva have John W. 22 and Ralph A. both truckers.  Ralph is married to Elonda.

In 1945 Denver John A. and Eva A. are in Denver, where he's a janitor.

The Denver library index has Mrs. Eva A. Paxton funeral notices September 1968 and John A. Paxton July 1969.

Paul M. Paxton wrote that his grandfather John Addison Paxton died in Denver July 1969, married Eva Richards "his brother also married his sister.  My father, Fay M. Paxton, was born in Haxtun in 1912.  John and Eva's children were Fay Merrill (my father). b.1912 d. 1988, Ralph b.1915, d. 1977, Elanor b. unknown  d.1992(?), John Willard b.1917 d.1985. He had numerous siblings, and I think that one of his brothers married Grandmothers sister. "

Eleanor May Paxton married Flavins E. Greer May 5, 1935 in Holyoke.  He was in Perkins County, Nebraska in 1910, Denver in 1920, and Pueblo in 1930.

In 1940 Jefferson County, Colorado Flavius Greer, 31, Nebraska, drives a laundry truck, married to Eleanor 26, born in Colorado.  They were in Phillips County in 1935.

Flavius enlisted in the Army in WWII

SSDI has Eleanor M. Greer born July 11, 1913, dying Nov 10, 1991.

She and Flavius - Aug 21, 1908 - Sep 20, 1963 are buried in Fairview Memorial, Albuquerque.

Fay M. Paxton is in Brush in 1930, a laborer at a filling station, rooming with the William Knark family.  He's married in 1940 Hereford Texas, and was in Brush in 1935.  He's a soil surveyor, married to Margaret, 25, born in Texas, and they have John D. six months, born in Colorado

In 1957 Fay and Margaret are in Colorado Springs, where he's an engineer.

John D. Paxton -1939-1964 is buried in Monte Vista, Colorado.

Fay M. Paxton, born Jan 12, 1912, died Dec 26, 1988, last residence La Plata County, Colorado.

Margaret M. Paxton died Friday, April 11, 2003, in McPherson, Kan. She was 86.

The cause of death was not disclosed.

Mrs. Paxton was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Beaumont, Texas to Ethel Chandler and Delbert Moore. She married Fay M. Paxton on Jan. 1, 1938, in Guymon, Okla. Mrs. Paxton was a teacher and a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Durango and the League of Women Voters. She moved from Durango to McPherson in 2002.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, John W. Paxton.

She is survived by two sons, Paul M. Paxton of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Joseph A. Paxton of Pueblo; one daughter, Alice P. Young, of Great Bend, Kan.; one brother, Delbert Moore of Archer City, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Cremation has occurred. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. May 30, at the First United Methodist Church in Durango.

In 1915 "Miss Paxton" was a teacher in the Merino schools.

July 4, 1917 Hutchinson Kansas "Miss Amanda Paxton left last evening for Colorado where she will be joined by her sister, Miss Olive Paxton of Sterling, Col., and together they will spend the summer at different points in Colorado. "

In 1919 Ollie Paxton was a teacher in the Iliff school district # 54.

O.O. Hillman owned a quarter in 33, 10N 52W in 1917/

Olive married Orrin O. Hillman May 20, 1924, recorded in Logan County.  Orin O. Hillman had married Ella Harlow Sep 5, 1906, recorded in Logan County, and he was divorced, living with his mother-in-law, in 1920 Logan County. Orrin was 37, born in Iowa

In 1930 Olive B. 48, and Orson Hillman, 47, are farming in Logan County.

In 1940 Olive is in the State Hospital in Pueblo, married.


Josephine married Orron O. Hillman on October 31, 1946 in Logan County.

Josephine V. (Straub) Hillman 1894-1961 is buried in Sterling # 57659380, with Orron Owen Hillman 1882-1965.
