Brennan/Lillis
The Chronicle-News, 26 Nov 1898

M.T. Brennan, of Starkville, and Miss Mary Lillis, of this city, were quietly united in marriage last Tuesday afternoon at 2 0'clock in the Catholic church, Father Uzzell officiating. Mr. Brennan is a trusted employee of the CF &I Co. at Starkville, and was formerly pit boss at the Robinson mine near here. He is well and favorably known here and has many friends. The fair bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Lillis and is very popular in Walsenburg.

Fox/Burgner
The Chronicle-News, 30 Nov 1898

James E. Fox and Miss Lola E. Burgner were made one last evening by Rev. BF Lawler, the marriage occurring at the home of Mr. and Mrs. JE Mauk, in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Fox will make their home at the JM John ranch below Folsom. The Chronicle-News extends contratulations.

The Chrinicle-News, 23 Sep 1898

Yesterday evening at 6 o'clock Mr. CN Garner of El Moro and Miss Lizzie White of the coke ovens, were joined in holy wedlock by Rev. BF Lawler at the Baptist parsonage. The happy young people go immediately to houskeeping, having the hearty congratulations of their many friends in which also the Chronicle-News joins, wishing them great prosperity.

Miss Bonnie Carroll and C. Jones were quietly married last Tuesday evening at te bride's home on Spruce street. the couple, who are well known in Trinidad, were married by the Rev. AB Pendleton of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.

At 7 o'clock this morning, Rev. BF Lawler joined in marriage Mr. George Hayward of Gallup, N.M. and Miss Louise Schuman of this city. They took the Santa Fe train for Denver on their wedding tour before returning to their hom in New Mexico. The Chrinicle-News joins their many friends in congratulations upon their happy marriage.

Of interest to his wide circle of friends at Trinidad Junior college is the announcement of the recent marriage of Elmery Henry of Raton, N.M. to Ida Bell Patton of Maxwell, N.M. The quiet single ring ceremony was performed Juny 8 in Mora, N.M. after which the couple honeymooned for a few days in Las Vegas, N.M.

Mrs. Henry is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Farmer of Maxwell, N.M. and attended school at Raton where she graduated with the class of 1944 from Raton High school. She is now employed at Los Alamos, N.m. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. EF Henry of Raton and is a graduate of Raton high school. He is a sophomore student at Trinidad Junior college where he is a music major, and a popular member of the younger set both in Trinidad and Raton.

At 8 o'clock yesterday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. JF Smith on Arizona avenue, Mr. Arch Lane and Mrs. Litte B. Graham were joined in wedlock, Rev. BF Lawler solemnizing the sacret rite. A few friends witnessed the marriage, hiving hearty congratulations. Their home will be near Stamford in the Stonewall country. The Chronicle News joins their many friends in wishing themhappiness andprosperity.

Mr. Juan Lontin and Miss Celia Jaramillo were united in marriage at the Catholic church Saturday afternoon, and the event was duly celebrated in the evening at Lynch hall, where a ball was given by the groom to the young couple's many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lontin will make their home at Engleville.

El Moro Monitor, 21 July 1893

Monday morning at 6 o'clock two miles below El Moro, at the residence of Don Moneco Lopez, a double wedding occurred. Senoritas Cruz and [Roberta], dughters of Mr. Lopez, were united in marriage to Francisco Garcia and his brother. The marriage service was performed according to the ritual of the Catholic church by Father Persone assisted by Father Schiffini. There were 500 guests present. The wedding feast was superb. Under a pavillion measuring 50x75 feet, dancing was commenced early in the morning and contunied all day and all night. Some of the guests remained two days enjoying the luxuries of the wedding feast. Several prominent politicians were present amonth whome we not Hon. Juan Vigil, formerly Sheriff of this county, Hon. J. Y. Alirez, Hon. Rafael Cacon and Hon. James H. Murray, that that politics was the subject most prominently discussed. May the bridal couples live long and vote often.

Merry/Sherman

Word which comes as a surprise to the many friends of the groom, is the announcement of the marriage ot C.P. Merry, formerly of this city to Mrs. C.D. Sherman, of Aberdeen, Washington. They were united in the bonds of matrimony on october 14 at the residence of Rev. J.E. Davis of the Christian church. The simple ring service was used in the ceremony. After the marriage a wedding supper was served. Mr. and Mrs. Merry will make their future home in Spokane, Washington. Mr. Merry lived in this city many years and is well known here.

Miss Helen Stuart and Bruce Murray were united in marriage at a quiet double ring ceremony performed in the Methodist manse at Raton, N.M., March 28. Rev. Paul H. Tripp read the impressive service. Miss Stuart was a lovely bride in a nav blue pin strip suit accented with white accessories. She wore a small feather hat trimmed with a tiny veil, and here only jewelry as a gold locket. Her accessories were white, and she carried a bridal bouquet of deep red roses. Maid of honor was Miss Ann Hrvatin of this city. Her corsage wasof pink roses. Best man was James Hughes of this city. Following the ceremony, the young couple left for a wedding trip to Albuquerque, N.M.

The bride is the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stuart of this city, and is well known among the younger set. She is a graduate of Trinidad high school with the class of 1945 and since that time, has been employed at the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph company. Mr. Murray is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Murray of Denver and attended schools in that city. For several months he has resided in Trinidad and is an officer with the state highway patrol. Upon their return from Albuquerque, Mr. and Mrs. Murray will be at home to their friends at 736 Tillotson avenue.

Raught/Vigil

A recent bride is Mrs. Melvin Raught, who, before her marriage June 28 was Miss Stella Vigil, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cologon Vigil of this city. Mrs. Raught's attendants at the wedding in Holy rinity Church were Mrs. Eloy Vigil, matron of honr, and Misses Rose Vigil and Clorinda Chavez, bridesmaids. Eloy Vigil was best man, John Mendoza and Ben La Crue, ushers.

The bride, a college summer student, is a graduate of Trinidad High School. She attended Adams State College at Alamosa and for the past year has been teaching at the Janson Schol. Mr. Raught, a former TJC student, is a graduate of Moreno Valley High School in Moreno, N.M. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Abel Renner of this city and a World War II veteran, he is employed at Gambles.

Rosenburg/Storz

The marriage of Miss Madeline Storz of Stonewall to Louis Rosenburg, formerly a sergeant of the Unites States army, in Raton on September 22, was just yesterday made known to their friends. The announcement of the secret marriage came as more than a surprise to even their most intimate friends. It was made known yesterday that the couple quietly stole away in an automobeile to raton on September 22 and there were married. They then returned to Stonewall and hae kept the marriage a total secret. The bride is the daughter of Adolf C. Storz, postmaster at Stonewall, and well known in Trinidad. The bridegroom was until three months ago a sergeant in Troop F of the Eleventh United States cavalry and is now employed at Morley where the newly married couple will make their home.

Tafoya/Abeyta
The Chronicle-News, 22 Nov 1898

Mr. Max Tafoya and Miss Monica Abeyta were united in marriage at the Catholic church last evening at 7 o'clock, a large number of relatives and friends witnessing the ceremony. After the marriage the bridal party and guests repaired to the bride's home west of town where the happy event was duly celebrated, one of the most elaborate wedding feasts in the history of Southern Colorado being served.

The groom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. JR Tafoya, and the bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Abeyta, two well known and respected families of this county. Mr. and Mrs.Tafoya were the recipients of many elegant presents. They have gone to keeping house in their new home recenty finished and nicely furnished, east of Trinidad.

The Chronicle News joins the many friends of these young people in whiching them a long and happy wedded life.

The marriage of Miss Nettie Gabriel and Hon. Herbert W. Wolcott was solemnized last Thursday night in the home of the bride's father, ex Collector of Customs William, H. Gabrield, at Cleveland, O. Rev. William Wolcott, of Massachusetts, a brother of the groom, officiated. State Senator Herbert Wolcott is a brother of United States Senator Wolcott of Colorado and formerly lived in Denver. Te bride and groom started on a wedding journey east.

John Young, who is employed at HR Quilitch's feed store, and Miss Mary Riley were united in marriage on the evening of the 21st inst., at the Methodist parsonage, Rev. Mr. Vallow officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Young, to whom we extend congratulations, have gone to keeping house at 517 Arizona avenue.
