WILLIAM'S FAMILY
The widow of William Newell Kimball married
Franklin Dunnell. She was Mary Ann Archer,
born in Carlyle, England, July 12, 1822. Her father was for
thirteen years a British soldier, and her mother belonged to the
noble Leslie family of Scotland. She came to the United States
in 1824, and in 1841 married William Newell Kimball of Webster,
Mass., where he died in 1851. The family was a notable one
as may be seen from the Family History. William's father Samuel was a soldier under Washington at Valley
Forge.
In 1850 Webster, Massachusetts, William N. is 31,
Mary A. 28, Sarah J. 6, and William A. 4.
In 1855 Milford, Massachusetts, Franklin Dunnel is 28, Mary A. 33, Sarah J. Kimball 11, and William A. Kimball 9. George F. DUnnel is 1.
In 1860 Millbury, Worcester County, Massachusetts,
Mary A. "Demund" is 38, now married to Franklin Demund 34.
Sarah J. Kimball is 16, William A. 14, George F. 7, and Frederick L. 4.
Two of their children are still living. Mrs. Jennie S. Harington of Homer,
Nebraska, and William Archer Kimball of
Behdena, Kansas, The latter was a soldier in the Union Army, under
his uncle Thomas Dudley Kimball,
After the death of William Newell Kimball in 1851, his widow
married Franklin Dunnell and they had two children, George F.,
now of Effingham, Kansas, and Fred L., of Sioux City. Iowa.
She died at her home near Homer, Dec. 2 ?, 1898, leaving a husband and the
four children above named. She was a patient
sufferer for several years, having received a paralytic stroke in
1891, from which time she was nearly helpless.
William Archer Kimball, son of William N. Kimball,
was born in Webster, Mass., June
25, 1846; married Oct. 17, 1880, Lura Dee Loper, died Dec. 25, 1887.
He served in the War of the Rebellion, enlisting as a drummer in Co. H,
Capt. Horace Hobbs, 51st Mass. Vol. Inf., Col. A. B. R. Sprague commanding,
in the fall of 1862. He was mustered out with the regiment, which was raised
for nine months' service, in the summer of 1863. Reenlisted as a private in
Co. A, Capt. T. D. Kimball, 2d Mass. Vol. Heavy Artillery, Col. Jones
Frankle commanding, Dec. 15, 1863. Co. A did infantry service as well as
uanison duty at different forts in North Carolina, and for several months
was equipped as light artillery. He served with his company and regiment in
North Carolina until honorably mustered out of the service at the close of
the war, Sept. 3, 1865. He is now a farmer and lives at Bendena, Doniphan
Co., Kansas.
In 1905 Doniphan County, W. A. Kimball is 58,
living with Hannah Blair 74, both born in Massachusetts..
1909 Dakota County, Nebraska "Wm. Kimball, who went to Colorado
with Alfred Austin and family, returned after only a short stay as he
did not like the country."
In 1910 Kit Carson County, William is farming, 63, widowed, living alone.

In 1916, William, born 1847 in Massachusetts, is in the Hot Springs, South Dakota National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers.
He was a farmer, residing in South Sioux City, Nebraska, widowed, 69.

William Archer Kimball was the son of William Newell Kimball and Mary Ann
Archer. His mother also married Franklin Dunnell or Dwinnel on some records.
William married Lura Dee Loper on 17 Oct 1880 at Severance, Doniphan,
Kansas. She died on 25 Dec 1887, a few days after the birth of their 4th
child. In addition to the three daughters, there was also a son born 14 Jan
1887 and died 24 Jan 1887 named Franklin Dunnell Kimball, named after
William's step-father. After the death of his wife, his daughters were
adopted by other families but still stayed somewhat connected.
Troy, Kansas, February 3, 1887 "An infant child of W. A. Kimball died Sunday, with whooping-cough."

adopted by John Bubb, whose family name she now bears,
Hester was in Dakota County in 1900, born in Kansas
in February 1886. She's living with John B. Bubb 50
and Lizzie E. 47.
(John died in 1919, buried in Sioux City # 114528041. Elizabeth died in February 1926 )
In 1910 Kit Carson County, Henry A. Austin is 23, farming, with Hester 24.
iii. Franklin Dunnell 10 , b. Jan. 14, 1887; d. Jan. 24, 1887.
iv. Lura Dee 10 , b. Dec. 20, 1887. She was adopted by
George Mock and now
bears his family name.

Lura Josephine "Jossie" Kimball Mock Kline 1887-1971 is buried in Woodward, Oklahoma # 65077183, with Earl Jay Kline 1885-1943
