In 1870 Monroe County, Kentucky, John Sims is farming, 43, Rachal Sims 44, Harvey Sims 16, Preston Sims 15, Thomas J. Sims 13, Franklin Sims 7, Margret Sims 5, and Auston Sims 2.

In 1880 Monroe County, Kentucky, John Simms is 48, divorced, a family doctor, son Franklin 16 working on farm, both born in Kentucky.

Simply because his nephew James Sims later homesteaded near Burlington, John might have invested in land.

July 10, 1894 "John E. Sims, of Ward [Colo.], a single man and aged 35 years, died at the Sale hotel of heart failure last night."

July 11, 1894 Boulder "The remains of John E. Sims, the Ward miner who died at the Sale hotel in this city, Monday evening, were interred this afternoon in the Boulder cemetery, Rev. A. H. Tevis officiating."


Possibly he was in Kanawha County, Virginia in 1850, with James Sims 49, Elizabeth Sims 47, Seneth Sims 21, Rachael Sims 18, Susan Sims 23, William H. Sims 16, Nancy Sims 12, John E. Sims 10, Charles Sims 7, and Daniel S. Sims 2.

In 1860 Fayette County, Virginia, William Sims is 53, Elizabeth Sims 58, Franklin B. Sims 29, John Sims 27, William Sims 24, Emeretta Sims 17, and David Sims 12.
