Last Thursday evening, October 1, 1908,
in the presence of only the immediate relatives and a few friends of the bride and groom,
Mr. Willis Bracken, formerly of Belleville, was united in marriage to Miss Lena Maud Bandt
of Phillipsburg. The wedding occurred at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bandt,
at Phillipsburg and the groom's father, the Rev. Theo. Bracken, also of Phillipsburg officiated.
After the delicious wedding supper the happy bride and groom departed with
Max and Miss Anna Keasling of Bloomington, Kans., in the former's big touring car for a short
visit with friends at Bloomington and from there they went to Beloit.
They return to Phillipsburg this week where they will be at home to their many friends.
Willis Bracken was an employee in the firm of G. W. Collins & Co.
here for several years and has a host of friends in Belleville. He Is now employed with the
Marsh Hardware Co. His bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bandt,
who own the Phillipsburg Mill and Electric light plant and are among the best and wealthiest
families of Phillips county. Miss Bracken is one of the city's most popular young ladies
and all who know her are her friends. The Freeman is glad to send best wishes and
congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bracken and may their married life be long and happy."
Willis claimed a quarter in section 13, 9 South, 51W in 1908.
Also in 1908, Lena M. Bandt claimed a quarter in section 13, 9S 51W.
He probably knew G. W. Bandt, who was running the Burlington elevator 1910- 1915.
December 1909 Logan, Kansas "Willis Bracken came into this shop last Tuesday to show us his hand on a little job of soldering, and we can say that he is not slow at the business. He knows just how it is done, having worked at it several years in the hardware and tinware business. "
April 1910 " Last Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Willis Bracken came down from Prairie View and signed up the deeds conveying their homesteads near Flagler, Colo., to Clyde Fuller, proprietor of the hotel at that place for a cash consideration of $2,000. This should provide a snug nest egg for the Bracken heir. Phillipsburg Dispatch"

"Richard Dale Bracken, 79, a retired refrigeration engineer, died Thursday in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 3 pm today at Greenwood Funeral Home Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Bracken was born June 24, 1916, in Clayton, Kan.. In 1987 he retired from Tyler Refrigeration.
He was a 32nd degree Mason with lodge No 303 in Wichita, Kan.. He was awarded his 45-year service
pin from the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Bracken and Reid Bracken.
Survivors: Wife, Neva Ensley Bracken of Fort Worth, son and daughter-in-law David Lee
and Linda Kay Bracken of Las Cruces, NM, daughter and son-in-law Marla Ann and William

Mrs. Chapman died July 7, 2004, at her home. She was 80. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville.
She was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Phillipsburg, Kan., daughter of Willis Carey and Lena Maudt Brandt Bracken. When she was 16, she moved to Oakland, Calif., to join her father and she finished high school and college there. They later moved to San Francisco.
She and Frank Chapman married May 3, 1943, in San Francisco. The couple had a daughter, who was raised and educated in the Bay Area.
After their daughter completed school the Chapmans moved to Sheridan, where they farmed and worked.
Survivors include her husband of Sheridan; her daughter, Sheron Parkins of Graham, Wash.; a sister, Lola Krumland of Palm Springs, Calif.; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Reid Bracken, Robert Bracken and Richard Bracken."

" Lola Faye Krumland, 79, of Rancho Mirage died Oct. 23, 2004, at home.
She was born July 24, 1925, to Willis and Lena Bandt Bracken in Phillipsburg, Kan.
She married Donald Krumland on Dec. 24, 1949, in Berkeley. She was a dental assistant for 33
years in Concord. She is survived by her husband, Donald Krumland of Rancho Mirage.
Services will be private with burial at Union Cemetery in Brentwood.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Mortuary of Desert Hot Springs."
