"Jonathan S. Zook was born in Mifflin Co., Pa., Sept. 12, 1847; died at his home near Thurman, Colo., Sept. 12, 1934; aged 87 y.
In Feb., 1876, he was united in marriage to Barbara Reber. To this union were born 9 children, 7 daughters and 2 sons. His wife, 1 son and 4 daughters have preceded him in death. At the age of 19 years he joined the Mennonite Church. He was for many years out of fellowship but two years ago he again made his peace with God and the Church and died rejoicing in his salvation. He leaves to mourn his departure 3 daughters and 1 son (Emma Wright, Thurman, Colo.; Susie Mills, Maybelle, Colo.; Fanny Pangborn, Burlington, Colo.; and Joseph Zook, Shaw, Colo.), 15 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by N. M. Birky. Text, Rom. 6:23. Interment at the Mennonite Cemetery near Thurman, Colo."

Mattie is buried in Thurman " Mattie Ann Holden, daughter of Jonathan and Barbara Zook was born in Wayland, Iowa, Nov. 6, 1884; died at her father's home near Thurman, Colo., Nov. 23, 1927. In 1923 she was married to William Holden. To this union were born two daughters, who with her father, 1 brother, and three sisters remain to mourn her departure. Her husband, mother, one brother, and three sisters preceded her to the spirit world."

Geneva Mae Holden was born in Lincoln County October 27, 1914, a maid in 1930 Wray, Colorado for George W. and Martha J. Short. She married Jack Kouba on October 27, 1936 in Yuma County, Colorado.

October 3, 1940 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kouba are parents of a baby daughter, who has been named Sarah Jane. The young lady was born at the home of her parents, northwest of town, on Saturday Sept. 28. "

February 1948 Wray "Todd (Theodore) Kouba, son of John and Mary Kouba, was born in Fiat County, Texas, on March 17, 1877, and passed away at the Weld County Hospital at Greeley, February 5, 1948, after a period of seven weeks illness with Leukemia.
He was united in marriage to Callie Hawes on November 28, 1907, at Duncan, Oklahoma. To this union seven children were born: Howard, Mable, Maude, Jack, Evelyn, Lee and Mattie. Todd was preceded in death by his son Lee; and is survived by his wife, Callie of Wray; by Howard of Colorado State Hospital; Mrs. Merle Blackwell of Greeley; Mrs. Joe Sloan of Wray; Jack Kouba of Wray; Evelyn of Greeley and Mrs. Robert Grams of San Diego, California. He is survived also by eight grandchildren, Patsy, Judy and Ronnie Blackwell; Donald, Betty, Sally and Dale Kouba, and Barbara Grams, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Surviving brother and sisters are: twin brothers, Reuben Kouba of Rye, Colorado and Joe Kouba of Sedalia, Colorado; Betty Horn of Canute, Oklahoma; Lee Kouba of Amarillo, Texas, Matilda Humpert of St. Louis, Missouri; Amiel Kouba of Osage, Wyoming; Rose Sattley, Amelia and Johnny Kouba all of San Francisco.
The family came to Wray in 1911 and homesteaded north of Wray. Todd had been in the cattle and ranching business since that time.
Funeral services were held Sunday February 8, 1948, at the Lockwood Mortuary at 2 p. m. Rev. Rex E. Kinsell conducted the final rites. Interment was in Grandview.
The Rattler extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved family."

August 17, 1950 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kouba are the parents of a daughter, born Friday, whom they named Shirley Jean."

July 1960 "Funeral services were held from the Veteran's Chapel in Hot Springs, S. D. on Wednesday, July 6, for Amiel Kouba, brother of the late T. D. Kouba and an early day resident of Yuma county. He is survived by two daughters, three brothers and two sisters. Among those attending the services were his nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. (Jack) Kouba of Greeley, Mrs. Kenneth Hibbler (Evelyn Kouba) and son of Greeley. Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Grams (Mattie Kouba) of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Earl Kouba and children of Castle Rock, and his 85 year old twin brothers, Joe D. Kouba of Castle Rock and Ruben Kouba of Pueblo."

Amiel R. Kouba and Geneva M. Holden divorced in Los Angeles in Febrauary 1972.

Geneva Mae Kouba, born October 27, 1914, died in Orange County, California on May 7, 1987.

Amiel R. Kouba, 56, married Florence E. McCoy, 48, in Los Angeles on September 23, 1972.
Amiel in 1966 was living at 22101 S. Figueroa in Los Angeles, when his daughter Shirley Kouba married Garry Weaver. He divorced Geneva Holden in Los Angeles in February, 1972, married Florence L. Robbins /McCoy born about 1924, on September 23, 1972 in Los Angeles.
Amiel R. Kouba, born October 27, 1915, died April 21, 1993, in Colfax, WWashington. He was a resident of Whitman, Washington.


"Donald Ray Kouba, 71, of Greeley, Colo., died on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at the Kenton Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1937, in Wray, Colo., to Amiel 'Jack' and Geneva (Holden) Kouba.
Donald proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from March 24, 1955, until Sept. 6, 1957. He enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing and traveling in his motor home.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamala Gordy and husband James of Evans, Colo.; three sisters, Betty Inman of Glendale, Ariz., Sally Noah and husband Troy of Lexington, N.C. and Shirley Weaver of Glendale, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Athina Sweigard of Greeley, Justin Sweigard of Greeley and Bryon and Melissa Thompson; six great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Jacqueline Pierce of Bodfish, Calif.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Geneva Kouba; a daughter, Tami Kouba; a grandson, Gregory George; and a brother, Dale Kouba.

In 2007 Troy and Sarah Noah were living in Silver Valley, when Bhis brother Billy Dean Noa died.

"Mabel Blackwell of Greeley will celebrate her 99th birthday with a private family celebration. Mabel was born Nov. 17, 1911, to Todd Kouba and Sarah (Howes) Kouba.
Mrs. Mabel Blackwell was a homemaker and a nurse's aide at the Weld County nursing home until it closed. She was also a housekeeper for many Greeley residents. She lost her husband of 71 years in October of 2007. They were married Jan. 18, 1936, by the Justice of the Peace J.F.Garton in Wray.
Mabel was born in a hotel in Wray and lived on a ranch that her father, Todd, homesteaded. Mabel was the second of seven children: Howard Kouba, Mabel Blackwell, Maude Kouba Brown, Jack Kouba, Mary Evelyn Kouba Hibbler, Lee Kouba and Matilda (Mattie) Kouba Grams. All are deceased except Mabel.
Her husband, Merle, a farmer, also worked for Ennes Dairy and then Ruckers Furniture until his retirement.
She is a member of Greeley First Church of the Nazarene.
Her children are Patricia (Dale) Cottrill of Mountain Home, Ark., Ronald Blackwell of Greeley, the late Judy Harvey (Max) of Pueblo, and the late John Blackwell. She also has seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren."

"Harvey Eugene Dine, age 96 of Bague Chitto, MS passed away February 1, 2006 at the Regency Place Nursing Home in Baton Rouge, LA.
Harvey was born July 14, 1909 in Flagler Colorado to Benjamin Franklin and Alta Elvira (Holden) Dine. He was the last of four children.
Harvey married Mabel Taylor on July 1, 1934 in Ordway, Colorado. To this union three children were born. Harvey and Mable farmed and ranched North of Flagler and drove a school bus. Mabel passed away March 5, 1964. On September 19, 1976 Harvey married Doris Smith. They spent the summers working on the ranch near Flagler and went south for the winters in Louisiana until 1986 when they retired to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Harvey was the oldest member of the Seventh- day Adventist Church in Baton Rouge. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mabel, one brother Alfonzo, two sisters Pauline and Emma, one granddaughter Deanne and a daughter-in-law Wanda.
Harvey is survived by his wife Doris of Bogue Chitto, MS. One son Frank Dine of Flagler, CO. Two daughters Jane and husband Dean James of Ft. Morgan, CO, and Myrtle and husband Jack McKay of Canterbury, NH. Two stepsons Stanley and wife Ruby Smith of Benton, Arkansas; Myron and wife Velia Smith of Honolulu, Hawaii. One step-daughter Claudia and husband Carlos Salcedo of Baton Rouge, LA. Sister -in-law Fae Dine of Thornton, CO. Twelve grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, twelve step grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 6, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Flagler Baptist Church with Pastor Cory Wetterlin officiating. Burial followed in the Flagler Cemetery. "

"Howard Marvin Loshbaugh : September 27, 1915 at McCook, Nebraska, died February 25, 1982 at Cambridge, Nebraska, buried McCook.
"Howard Marvin Loshbaugh, b. 27 Sept. 1915, McCook, Red Willow co., Nebr.; son of Ahnon Leonard Loshbaugh and Gertrude Euphemia Young. Served in U. S. Army, in the European Theatre of action during World War 11 from 1962 to 1965. He was employed as Clerk by the Burlington Railroad Co., in Brush, Colo., and at McCook, Nebr., where he made his home after transferring from Brush in 1958. Howard was a double-cousin to the children of Walter Dwight Young and Hattie Jeannette Loshbaugh. Following the death of his mother when he was six weeks old, he was nursed by his Aunt Hattie who then had a four-mouth old son, Leo. He was raised by Dwight and Hattie as a beloved "brother" to their children. He was killed in a traffic accident on the 25th of Feb. 1982 when the pickup truck he was driving was hit head-on by a car crossing over into his lane. Howard died at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, Nebr. shortly after the accident without gaining consciousness. Funeral services were held on I March, at the United Memorial Methodist Church of McCook of which he was an active member and Sunday School teacher. Burial in the Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook. He was married at Brush, Morgan co., Colo. on 6 May 1941 to: WIFE -- Opal Marie McCracken, b. 6 May 1922 at Lindon, Washington co., Colo., dau. of Alva William McCracken and Levina Zook. Alva was son of Frank McCracken and Maud Henry. The father of Lavina Zook had a long, white beard and a wooden leg.

Opal Marie Loshbaugh, 84, of New Ulm, Minn., died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2006) at her home.
She was born on May 6, 1922, in Lindon, Colo., to Alva William and Levina (Zook) McCracken. She graduated from the Lindon High School.
On May 6, 1941, she was united in marriage to Howard Loshbaugh in Brush, Colo. She was a devoted wife and mother. She spent many years as a daycare provider. When her children were older, she worked for McCook City Schools and the Community Hospital in McCook. She enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, gardening, baking, cooking and being a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Lana and Doug Owens of New Ulm, Carol and Kurt Siats of St. Charles, Miss., and Judy and Bart Bieker of Webster City, Iowa; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Chris Loshbaugh of Irvine, Calif., and Bob and Renalle Loshbaugh of McCook; a daughter-in-law, Rita Loshbaugh of Hudson, N.H.; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Jo McCracken of Yuma, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Hazle McCracken of Fort Morgan, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Loshbaugh; a son, Marvin Loshbaugh; and a brother, Bud McCracken.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Kevin Dunn officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, with Pastor Clark Bates presiding.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, Minn., is in charge of the arrangements.

"Marvin D. Loshbaugh, 63, died Thursday (Feb. 23, 2006) at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, N.H.
He was born June 6, 1942, in Brush, Colo., to Howard and Opal (McCracken) Loshbaugh.
He married Rita Bourre.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, specializing in submarines.
He received a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in 1982. He was a technical writer.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a cub master for the Cub Scouts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Loshbaugh.
Survivors include his wife, Rita of Hudson; sons, David and wife, Darlene Loshbaugh of Riverton, Utah, and James Loshbaugh of Hudson; daughters, Lisa and husband, Charles Mitchell of Santaquinn, Utah, Catherine and husband, Michael Ehlers Jr. of Hudson and Julie and husband, Tony Lambias of Phoenixville, Pa.; his mother, Opal Loshbaugh of New Ulm, Minn.; brothers, Richard and wife, Christine Loshbaugh of Irvine, Calif., and Robert and wife, Renalle Loshbaugh of McCook; sisters, Lana and husband, Doug Owens of New Ulm, Carol and husband, Kurt Siats of St. Charles, Mo., and Judy and husband, Bart Bieker of Webster City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services were today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nashua. Interment was in the Hills Farm Cemetery in Hudson.

February 1918 Brush, Colorado " Mrs. Charles Koser has wonders to tell us of Moffat county. She says she has 320 acres of the finest land in Colorado. Plenty of wood and springs on the place."

March 1918 "Mrs. Charles Koser has moved from Vandolas farm to Charles Koser's house until she gets ready to go to her homestead on the Western Slope."

February 1920 Abbott items (Washington County) "Charles Koser reports that he will have a telephone put in his establishment a little later on. "

January 9, 1923 Moffat County "Mrs. Koser and Mrs. Mills received a telegram Inst Friday night from Thurman, Colorado, telling them their mother, Mrs. J. S. Zook, had passed away on a Friday morning. Mrs. Koser and Anna Mae left on the morning train. On account of the roads being so bad Mrs. Mills was unable to go."
April 1923 Akron "Mrs. Emma Koser and daughter were in the Abbott neighborhood visiting one day this week."

JOHN

July 1911 Glen items in the Hugo newspaper "The celebration at Shaw was well attended. A good program was rendered in the morning. As the Bovina baseball team failed to come, there was a game between players of 30 years against those under 30, resulting in favor of the younger generation, by a score of 3 to 5. This was the best game played on the Shaw diamond. This was followed by athletic sports. John Zook and Roy Murray entertained the people by riding a bucking horse. A good dance in the evening. For a good time come to Shaw."

December 19, 1913 Akron, Colorado "Mr. Zook, a brother of Mrs. Charlie Koser, died in a hospital in Denver last Sunday. The funeral was held at his late home near Thurman last Thursday. Mr. Zook was about 30 years of age and unmarried."


December 26, 1913 "John Zook died in a Denver hospital Dec. 13th, was to have been buried the 19th but on account of the storm it was put off until the 21st. He was buried in the Mennonite cemetery. On account of John Zook's funeral the young people's meeting was called off for the 21st."
"Mrs. Mills of Nebraska arrived Tuesday to attend the burial of her brother Mr. Zook, near Thurman."

SUSAN

Susie Zook, 22, married Thomas J. Husband on December 7, 1904 in Denver.

November 1913 Akron "Another pretty wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Green at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16th, when Rev. Edward Nolte married Conrad Schmidt and Miss Hazel Green. Cecil Green was the best man and Mabel Barrington, cousin, the bridesmaid. Compliments of the happy couple acknowledged by the Press."

All three men received WW I Draft Registration cards in that County on 5 June 1917. **Cecil's record stated he had a wife & one child along with his mother & father as dependents."
