David 1855-1943 is buried in McPherson County # 35559314, with Nancy C. 1857-1940.

June 1898 Elbert, Colorado "Mrs. Cort, Miss McConnell, Mrs. Slock, Miss Mills, Miss Jones, Miss Isabel Cort and George Mills were entertained by Mrs. Nellie Hobbs Wednesday and at five o'clock tea by Miss Jones."

George claimed a quarter in section 19, 8S 51W in 1908.

July 1956 Salem Oregon " A picnic dinner was enjoyed in the backyard at the George Mills home recently. It was in honor of Mr. Mills' birthday and also the birthday of Miss Mary Donohue. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Saulmon, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Saulman and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cross and children, Mrs. Hert Mills and Maralce, Mrs. Mac Alexander and son, Tyler, all of Sweet Home, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Pittam and sons of Roseburg, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Johnson of Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clayton of Glendale; Mrs. C. M. Cochran, Mrs. Nora Gibbons, Miss Mary Donohue, and Mrs. and Mrs. George Mills of Jefferson."

1954 Salem, Oregon "Advanced to the rating of boiler-man third class was Dennis E. Mills, son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Mills, Woodburn Route 1. He recently arrived in San Diego Calif., following a tour with Task Force 95 off the Korean coast."

January 26, 1966 "George E. Mills, 82, 1305 Fir St., died in the Lebanon Community Hospital Monday following a short illness. He was born June 28, 1883, in Conway, Kan. He owned and managed a dray service, worked for the railroad and was in farming in that area. Early in the 1930's he became a tree surgeon and moved to Los Angeles, Calif, in 1944. He moved to Sweet Home in 1945, moving to Jefferson for 13 years and returned to Sweet Home in 1961. Mr. Mills was married to Lizzie A. Briggs in Los Angeles on Feb. 24, 1945. He retired from tree surgery in 1950. He was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 236, Sweet Home; recently was presented a 55-year pin from IOOF Lodge No. 244, Sweet Home. He had been a member of the lodge in Kansas and in Jefferson. In addition to his widow, he is survived by a brother, Emery Mills, Windom, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. May Lueck, Susanville, Calif. Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Conservative Baptist Church, Sweet Home, with the Rev. Raymond Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in the Gilliland cemetery, Sweet Home."

August 3, 1982 "Lizzie Alice Mills, 93, former Sweet Home and Jefferson resident, more recently of Downey, Calif., died Saturday at the Garfield Hospital in Monterey Park, Calif. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the mortuary at Inglewood Cemetery in Inglewood, Calif. She had been married to Harry Briggs and then to George E. Mills, who preceded her in death. A son, Donald Briggs, also preceded her in death. Survivors include two grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren."

Ethyle Fern Saulmon, born April 15, 1918, dying March 3, 2003 s bured in Linn County # 146511547, with Elvin Lee Saulmon 1918-1997.

Gordon G. Mills, 15, is with his grandparents David Mills 74 and Nancy C. 72 in 1930 McPherson County.

1938 Hutchinson, Kansas "Mrs. Gordon Mills left Tuesday morning for Los Angeles, Calif., to join Mr. Mills for a residence there. Mr. Mills is connected with the Chevrolet Motor company in Los Angeles."

LEWIS

December 19, 1913 Akron, Colorado "Mr. Zook, a brother of Mrs. Charlie Koser, died in a hospital in Denver last Sunday. The funeral was held at his late home near Thurman last Thursday. Mr. Zook was about 30 years of age and unmarried."


December 26, 1913 "John Zook died in a Denver hospital Dec. 13th, was to have been buried the 19th but on account of the storm it was put off until the 21st. He was buried in the Mennonite cemetery. On account of John Zook's funeral the young people's meeting was called off for the 21st."
"Mrs. Mills of Nebraska arrived Tuesday to attend the burial of her brother Mr. Zook, near Thurman."

Susie Zook, 22, married Thomas J. Husband on December 7, 1904 in Denver.

Thomas and Susan had Leona Mae Husband on May 10, 1908 in Denver, dying August 3, 1998 as Richardson.
Leona is living with her grandmother Emma Husband in 1910 Central City, Colorado, with Norman Husband 24.

In 1920 Denver, Leona 11 and Thomas J. Husband 46 are living with Thomas's sister Charlotte Flora 35 and her husband Soloman H. Flora 42. Emma Husband 69 iw with them.
Leona 21, is a niece of Catherine Bowder 58, with her two sons.

Susan is washing dishes in 1920 Craig, married but no spouse.

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Lewis is farming, 31, born in Kansas, parents born in Illinois, living alone.

Lewis claimed a quarter in sections 19 and 24, 8S 51W in 1911.

Jonathan S. Zook is 52, Barbara Zook 44, Amy L. Zook 23, John J. Zook 19,Susanna Zook 17, Mattie A. Zook 15,Joseph Zook 13, Leah Zook 10,Levina Zook 7, Fanny Zook 5, and Barbara Zook 10 months.

February 1918 Brush, Colorado " Mrs. Charles Koser has wonders to tell us of Moffat county. She says she has 320 acres of the finest land in Colorado. Plenty of wood and springs on the place."

January 9, 1923 Moffat County "Mrs. Koser and Mrs. Mills received a telegram Inst Friday night from Thurman, Colorado, telling them their mother, Mrs. J. S. Zook, had passed away on a Friday morning. Mrs. Koser and Anna Mae left on the morning train. On account of the roads being so bad Mrs. Mills was unable to go."
(Anna Mae Koser and Edward Marks married in 1930 in Lincoln County, Colorado.)

In 1924 Lewis M. Mills, of Great Divide, Colorado was a witnesd for the claim of Virgil Houston in 8N 94W, Moffat County, Colorado.

1927 Craig "Mrs. Susie Mills called on Mrs. J. F. Jacobson last Tuesday."

"Jonathan S. Zook was born in Mifflin Co., Pa., Sept. 12, 1847; died at his home near Thurman, Colo., Sept. 12, 1934; aged 87 y.
In Feb., 1876, he was united in marriage to Barbara Reber. To this union were born 9 children, 7 daughters and 2 sons. His wife, 1 son and 4 daughters have preceded him in death. At the age of 19 years he joined the Mennonite Church. He was for many years out of fellowship but two years ago he again made his peace with God and the Church and died rejoicing in his salvation. He leaves to mourn his departure 3 daughters and 1 son (Emma Wright, Thurman, Colo.; Susie Mills, Maybelle, Colo.; Fanny Pangborn, Burlington, Colo.; and Joseph Zook, Shaw, Colo.), 15 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by N. M. Birky. Text, Rom. 6:23. Interment at the Mennonite Cemetery near Thurman, Colo."
Lewis, 61, and Susie 57 are in Great Divide in 1940.

Lewis registered for WWII with an address of Maybell, Moffat County.

January 1944 Craig "Mrs. Myra Remro of Grand Junction, Mrs. Susie Mills of Maybell and Mrs. Ruth Persinger of Craig were guests at the Daisy Clauson home this week."

Lewis M. Mills 1878-1947 is buried in Craig, Colorado # 28771835, with Susie 1882-1952.
