"Thorpe, Charles N., 86, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010. Service 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, Andover United Methodist Church. Charles was born in Hamburg, Iowa on December 30, 1923, the only child of Nathan G. and Eva V. Thorpe. The family moved to Sterling, Colorado in 1926. Charles graduated from Sterling High School in 1941. He was a pharmacist mate in the Navy during World War II and served as an operating room assistant to the surgeons at the Naval Hospital on Maui during his time in the service. He married Margaret E. Rice on December 29, 1946. He attended the University of Denver, graduating from there in 1950. His career in Farm Credit started as a manager of the National Farm Loan Association in Sterling, Colorado. He later worked at the Production Credit Association in Sterling and was manager of the Production Credit Association in Colby, Kansas for five years before going to work at the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank in Wichita. He retired from the FICB as Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer in 1986. Preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda. Survived by his wife, Margaret, sons, Dick Thorpe and his wife, Glenda of Columbia, South Carolina, Dean Thorpe and his wife, Julie of Wichita, Kansas, daughters, Pamela Thorpe of Andover, Kansas, Peggy Ruhl and her husband, John of Leon, Kansas, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. "
Marilyn Rice and John Charles Millar married in Logan County on Dec 21, 1952.

"Marilyn Millar passed away of complications from Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 81 on September 9, 2012. She was born on July 6, 1931 in Greeley, Colorado to Gerald Rice and Cora O’Neal. In 1949 she graduated from Sterling High School, and went on to get a teaching certificate at Chadron Teacher’s College in Nebraska. On December 21, 1952 she married John C. Millar in Sterling, Colorado. The couple moved to Security in 1962 where John became the principal at Talbott Elementary. Marilyn taught at Venetucci Elementary (formerly known as South Elementary) for a few years before concentrating on being a homemaker and piano teacher. They lived on McBurney Blvd. for over 30 years.
Marilyn was very involved in Good Shepherd Church as a church pianist and organist. She was active in the United Methodist Women and the Deborah Circle. For the past 8 years she was a resident of Cedarwood Health Care Center on Kiowa.
She is survived by her sister Margaret Thorpe, her daughters Mary Lynne Ketcham, Gail Farrell, Jeanette Millar, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Millar, her sister Norma Renquist, brother Robert Rice and her sons Gerald H. Millar and James E. Millar and her brother Robert Rice.
Visitation will be held at Dove Witt Family Mortuary 6630 US Highway 85/87 Fountain, on Wednesday September 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. On September 13 a private burial service will be at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held September 13, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Security. A reception will follow the service in Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Mc Curdy Mission School in care of Good Shepherd Church."

Norma, born Dec 5, 1932, died Sept 22, 1964 in San Mateo County, California, mother's maiden name O'Neil.
Norma L. Renquist 1932-1964 is buried in Sterling # 57658080.
"A sudden heart attack took the life of Mrs. Norman L. Renquist,
31, 420 Granetli Avenue, Half Moon Bay, last night at her home.
A resident of Half Moon Bay since August 1, Mrs. Renquist was a native
of Greeley, Colo., and had also resided in Redwood City.
She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Redwood City.
Surviving members of her family include her husband,
Robert B. Renquist, a production scheduler with United Air Lines;
three children, Stephen, Ronald and Ann Renquist, all of the family home;
two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Thorpe, of Colby, Kan.;
Mrs. Marilyn Millar, of Security, Colo., and a brother,
Robert Rice of San Carlos.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 7 p.m. from Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. George Spindt officiating. Final services and interment will take place in Sterling, Colorado."
