Samuel J. Noel married Emerette Leaming in Dallas County, Iowa June 28, 1866. <

"Samuel was a soldier in the Civil War and died in Adel, Iowa on January 28, 1883."
The stone in Adel # 13813188 has simply "Sam'l J. Noel, 2 1 A. L. A."

In 1882 Benjamin Sibbitt, of Indianola, was awarded the postal contract to carry mail from Grainfield, Nebraska daily (except Sunday) at 6 a.m., arriving Oberlin Neb by 6 p.m., leaving Oberlin at 6a.m, arriving at Grainfield by 6. Leave Oberlin at 7, arrive Indianola by 3. Leave Indianola at 7, arriving Oberlin by 3. Bond required $5,000, contract paying $2,800 per annum.
Danbury is the location of the relay stables of Messrs. Sibbitt and Crabtree. Their mail and passenger coaches travel both directions between Oberlin and Indianola each day.
November 18, 1892 "License was issued the 12th for the marriage of Mr. Edward Noel and Miss Katie Sibbitt of Indianola. They were made husband and wife by Rev. W. A. Boucher at Bartley on Sunday last.

Emerett Sibbitt dying Nov 8, 1908, is buried in Fort Morgan, Colorado with no stone, per # 88477579.

In 1910 Seibert, Edward G. 40 and Kate 35 have Mary 14, Benjiman 12, Bernard 7, Earnest 4, and Syble 2.
George proved up two quarters in 3 and 4, 8S 49W in 1912.
In 1920 Kit Carson County, George E. Noel, farming, is 49, Kate 45, Benjamin 21, Bernard 17, - both section hands - Ernest 13, Syble 11, and Margaret 5.
Mary V. has married Stephen B. Bigelow, and they're in Washington County Colorado in 1920 - Stephen 27, Mary V. 25, with Earnest Clyde Bigelow 4 and Mary Luella nine months.
Mary 1895-1978 # 30390465 and Steven 1892-1980 are buried in Ordway Colorado.

In 1930 Kit Carson County, George is 59, Kate E. 55, Bernard C. 26 - Nebraska a laborer on the county roads, and Margaret E. 15 iwas born in Colorado.
On the same page is Benjamin S. Noel, 38, Nebraska, living alone, farming.
In 1940 George is 70, in Pueblo, Colorado, married but no spouse - and was in Kit Carson County in 1935. Kate is an inmate at the state hospital, so perhaps Geroge is rooming near there.
Katherine Noel died February 20, 1943, per the Pueblo newspaper of February 21, 1943.
George Edward Noel had a record - no date of an old age pension from the state of Colorado, and also a Corrections record.

Benjamin Samuel Noel, serving in the 159th Infantry, 1915-1919, born March 17, 1898, died April 10, 1956. The military headstone was to be shipped to C.B. Noel of Seibert, and the applicant was Mrs. Leveta Noel of Wellington, Colorado. (Daughter of James L. Eastin and Nancy Jane King of Vernon. Marie Noel was her sister.)

Leveta 1921-2000 is buried in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming # 42370258 Leveta H. Burkholder, 79, of Greeley, Colo., died Oct. 24 in Greeley.
She was born July 10, 1921, in Wray, Colo.
Mrs. Burkholder had been a hospital housekeeper.
She married Ray Burkholder on Sept. 16, 1966, in Fort Collins, Colo. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. Mrs. Burkholder is survived by her husband, Ray Burkholder of Greeley, Colo., sons, James E. Noel of California and Wayne L. Noel of Fort Collins; stepsons, Dennis D. Burkholder of Georgetown, Colo., and Terry L. Burkholder of Lola, Mont.; daughters, Edna M. Penacoste of Missouri and Betty J. Woodward of Donovan, Mo.; stepdaughter, Sharlon K. Mays of Longmont, Colo.; brothers, Wayne Eastin of Denver and Warren Eastin of Miles City, Mont.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Clarence B. Noel and Marie H. Eastin, both of Seibert, married in Burlington August 22, 1935. Witness was George Noel.

In 1940 Seibert precinct, Bernard C. is 38, Marie H. 23 Eugene L. 7, George E. 3, Betty L. 1, and Bennie L. ?. Marie nd the kids were all born in Colorado.
Betty -1940-1943 is buried in Seibert.
Benny L. 1940-2005 is also buried in Seibert, # 38073706, and Veva J. is on the same stone..

SYBLE Syble Lenora (Noel) Burian was born May 9, 1908 at White, Nebraska to Edward and Kate Noel and departed this life January 26 at the age of 56 yrs, 8 m and 17 days, at the Colorado General Hospital in Denver. At the age of six weeks, Syble moved with her parents to Seibert, Colorado, where she grew to womanhood.

Joseph Burian, a laborer, 18, arrived in Baltimore in November 1903, to join his uncle Joesph Burian at Kirwin, Kansas.
The uncle is likely the Joseph F. Burian 1863-1931, marrying Frances Moravek in Johnson County, Iowa on sept 22, 1886,. buried in Smith County, Kanss # 28234226.


Joseph Burian is single, farming alone in 1910 Kit Carson County, 26, bornin Bohemia.

Joseph Frank Burian claimed a quarter in 9, 6S 48W in 1917.

He registered for WWI with an address of Vona, born Dec 7, 1884, working as a thresher for Eold Gognan of Vona. His nearest relative was Barbery Burian of Slouha Louka, Bohemia.

Syble was united in marriage to Joseph Frank Burian November 11, 1926 at Vona. To this union were born one son, Thomas, and four daughters; Irene, Joann, Hazel, and Dian.

They farmed until 1948 when they moved into Vona. Syble lived in Burlington for the past three years until she moved to Denver for medical attention in August of 1964.
She was active in the community and the Church of Christ.
Syble was preceded in death by her husband in June of 1961, also her parents and two brothers Ernest and Ben. She is survived by her son Thomas, Des Moines, IA; her 4 daughters; Irene Courtright, Stratton; JoAnn House, Bethune; Hazel Card, and Dian Burian of Denver; Five grandsons and seven granddaughters. Also a brother, Bernard Noel, Seibert; two sisters, Mary Bigelow, Ordway; and Margaret St Clair, Wiggens; seven nieces, 11 nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Vona Sat. Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. with Eugene R. Palmer officiating. Pall bearers were Jim Miller, Merl Ford, Carl Woller, Walt Eastin, Virgil Gray and Clyde Mullis. Interment was in the Vona Cemetery. Syble # 16875006 and Joseph Frank Burian 1884-1961 # 95286632 are buried in Vona.

"Mary Dian Giles died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She was born February 14, 1948 in Vona, Colorado, to Joseph and Sybil Burian. Dian was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Cartwright. Survivors include her spouse, Charles A. Giles; son, Charles R. Giles and his wife, Sara; stepbrother, Lee Ross Rainey; daughter-in-law, Michelle Rainey; brother, Tommy Burian; sisters, Hazel Card and Joann Rouse; and grandchildren: Ethan Rainey, Lee Ross Rainey, Jr., Victoria Rainey, Savannah Rainey, Kaitlyn Giles and one on the way"

"Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident Edna Irene Courtright passed away on August 3, 2009 at her home in Stratton. She was 81 years old.
Irene was born on July 27, 1928 to Joseph and Sybil Burian on a farm north of Vona, Colorado. She started her career at the age of 14, cooking and cleaning for Dr. Hewett. Ironically, she was the first baby he delivered.
Irene attended school and graduated from the Vona School District in 1946. She married William Dale Courtright on August 8, 1949, moving for the first time to Stratton in 1950. Dale and Irene ran the Oasis Station and Cafe in Vona, Colorado for approximately two and a half years. They returned to Stratton in 1957 and moved into the home that she currently lived in. They raised 5 children who attended Stratton Schools.
Irene started cooking at the Stratton High School in the spring of 1966, after many years of cooking at the Brand Inn Iron. She really liked the students, the working hours, and the fact that she had summers and holidays off with her family. Through the years she worked with Doris Peters, Winifred Ingram, Dorothy Flageolle and numerous substitutes. Irene appreciated all the experiences she had while working for the Stratton School District. Through the years, Irene catered for the Lions Club dinners and several weddings. After fifteen years of service at the Stratton schools, she started the Stratton Donut Shop with her daughters, which they operated for 7 years. Recently, Irene was active with the Stratton Senior Citizens and the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Dale, daughter Cheryl Richards, a son-in-law Steve Conrads and a great granddaughter Alaina Richards.
Memorial services for Irene were held on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Stratton Church of God in Stratton with Pastor Michael Mattocks officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Vona Cemetery, Vona, Colorado."
