William W. and Elizabeth (Riley) Paisley, 8 South 45 West
Louisa County, Iowa, February 2, 1911 S. M. Paisley died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. A. Swan, in this city, Saturday evening last. He had been quite sick for some days, yet the end came suddenly. The funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased Tuesday morning at 10:30, conducted by Reverend Fred Elliott, assisted by Reverends Cameron and Blagg. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery. Samuel Maxwell Paisley was born near Cadiz, Guernsey county, Ohio, November 15, 1822. In 1847 he was married to Sally Ann Savage. To this union were born six children, four sons and two daughters, three dying in infancy. Mrs. Paisley's death occurred in 1854 and in 1856 he removed to Iowa with three small children. In 1858 he was married to Sarah Skinner To them were born six children, five sons and one daughter, all of whom survive him. Sarah Skinner Paisley's death occurred on December 1, 1905. The surviving children are: Mrs. J. A. Swan and Mrs. J. W. Swan of Morning Sun; W. W. Paisley of Harrison, Arkansas; V. K. Paisley of Portland; Dr. C. A. Paisley of Aberdeen, South Dakota; G. M. Paisley of Lenox, lowa; S. L. Paisley of Ocheyedan, Iowa; J. F. Paisley of Shambaugh, and Ida A. Paisley, who is now teaching in Egypt. (John Alexander Swan 1839-1889 was the brother of Eliza (Swan) Paisley, whose daughter married James McClure.) Samuel Paisley was a faithful, consistent Christian. He was the founder of the U. P. church at Greenfield, Iowa, and at the time of his death was a valued member of the U. P. church of Morning Sun. Truly he rests from his labors and his works follow him. |
