JOHN'S FAMILY
In 1850 Harrison County, Ohio, John Smallwood is a cooper,
49, Eliza 33, and James B. 16, all three born in Virginia.
Sarah 10, John 8, Robert 5, William 2, and harris on one month were all born in Ohio.
In 1860 Harrison County, John and Eliza have James W. 23,
Sarah 20, John 18, Robert 15, William 12, Harrison 10, Harriett 7, Thomas 4, and Barnett one month.
John 1800-1888 is buried in Harrisville, Harrison County # 102365643, with
Eliza (Hall) Smallwood 1818-1892 # 102365692.
KIZZIAH'S FAMILY
In 1850 Miami County, Indiana, John Hicks is a merchant, 36, Rebeca 35, Reuben 13, Rebecca 12, Keziah 8, Mary 4, and David five months.
In 1860 Randolph County, Arkansas, John Hix is farming, 45, with Rebecca 44, both born in Ohio. Lydia 25 and William R. are farming, both born in Indiana.
Rebecca is 21, "Kesiah" 17, Polly 14, David 10, Alphie and Alvin both 6, all born in Indiana.
Rebecca had married George Herr, and in 1880 are in Coffey County, Kansas, with George 36. Rebecca 40, Levi 12, Frank 10, Edwin 6.
Her brother Alvin Hicks 27 is a farm laborer.
Her daughters Clotilda Hess 18 born in Illinois and
Lydia Hess 16 born in Indiana are also with them.
Rebecca (Hicks) (Hess) Herr 1840-1905 is buried in Coffey County 3 11349009.
"Married John Hess in Indiana in 1854. Mother of Alonzo born 02-09-1855, born in Carthage, Mo. He died 12-02-1910. Her daugher Lyda Florence was born 05-24-1864 in Rossville, Indiana and died 05-21-1927. Married George Herr."
William R. Hicks 1837-1918 is buried in Navarro County, Texas # 84791175.
David E. Hicks and Ellen McGowan married in Vernon County Missouri May 255, 1872.
In 1885 Coffey County, Kansas, David is 34, Ellen 29, Minina 12,
James 9, John 7, Alvin 5, Rebecka 4, and Ernest nine months.
One tree said he died in March 1885 in Coffey County, Kansas.
February 24, 1908 Burlington, Kansas "Miss Myrtle Hicks and W. B. Goble were married at the
Christian parsonage in Burlington Wednesday evening, February 19,
by Rev. L. M. Wiles of the Christian church. Mr. and Mrs. Goble are well known
young people and stand high in the estimation of those who know them.
The bride is a daughter of Alpheus Hicks and the groom a son of G. 31. Goble
and both live near Burlington. The groom is a young farmer and they will live on a farm, starting their married life with the best wishes of their friends. "
Alpheus Hicks 1854-1918 is buried in Coffey County # 110731624, with Mary A. Hicks 1870-1963.
November 1, 1918 Burlington Kansas "The funeral of Alpheus Hicks was held at
Stringtown school house Thursday afternoon, October 31, 1918, in charge of
Rev. W. S. Lowe of the Christian church of Burlington. Interment was made in the
Stringtown cemetery.
Alpheus Hicks was born at Kokomo Indiana, February 4, 1854 and died October ..,
1918. His parents both died when he was four years of age. He had four sisters
and three brothers of whom only one brother remains, Alvin Hicks of Holder Creek,
Calif. Mr. Hicks came to the State of Kansas in the year of lxH7
and settled in Coffey county. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Williams,
May 8, 18S0. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Myrtle Coble,
Mrs. Pearl Morris, James L. and Earl Hicks, all of Burlington, Kansas.
He leaves a wife, four children and six grandchildren to mourn his loss."

1889 Santa Cruz, California "On Sunday, aa Alvin Hicks was
in a buggy driving along Mission Street, his horce was frightened by a bicycle,
causing the vehicle to partly upset and throw Mr. Hicks out.
He sustained a longitudinal fracture of his left knee cap,
a sprain of his right ankle and bruises on his hands and face.
Dr. Clark attended Mr. Hicks, who suffered much pain yesterday. "

This might be another Alvin Hicks - the California census of 1900, 1910, and 1920 have Alvin as single, a laborer. In 1920 he was in Santa Cruz County.

John and Kiziah are in Goodland, Kansas in 1910, retired. Kizziah has had six children, four living.

and Mrs. Rosa Pratt were in Topeka Friday."

daughter, Mrs. Dora Luttig and family.
Mrs. Rosa Pratt and son, James returned to their home in Colby, Kan.,
Tuesday after visitin her sister, Mrs. Dora Luttig, for several days."
Kizziah Hicks was born June 3, 1843, at Cassville, Indiana.
She was united in marriage to J. F. Smallwood in 1862.
To this union were born six children, two of whom have preceded her
to the home beyond. The husband and four daughters survive her,
they are Mrs. Orpha Parke of Delhi, California, Mrs. Grace Capps of Menlo, Iowa,
Mrs. Dora Luttig of Topeka, Kansas, and Mrs. Rosa Pratt of Colby, Kansas.
In 1863 she united with the christian church and has lived a consistant
christian life since. For ten years she has been a great sufferer but through
it all has been patient and kind. She died Saturday May 22 at 9 o'clock p.m.
The funeral was held at the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Beauchamp
Sunday p.m. at four o'clock.

born July 1869 in Iowa, married five years to Orpha L. Feb 1874 Indiana.
Francis W. March 1898 and Ethel R. August 1899 were born in Colorado.
They're next to William Parke May 1848 in Missouri and Jane March 1852 in Ohio.
T. Parke had claimed a quarter in section 8, 8S 43W in 1894, and Charles E. Parke a
quarter in section 9, 8S 43W in 1901.
William J. Parke claimed another quarter in section 22, 8S 51W in 1901, and Charles E. Parke another quarter
in section 10, 8S 51W in 1908.
In 1910 Charles and Orpha are farming in Jackson
County, Oregon, with Frances 12, Ethel 10, Lora 9, and Maud L. born in Colorado, Juanita 3 and Donald 2 in Oregon.
Charles and Orpha are in Island County, Washington in 1930, with Wilma O. 17 and Lawrence K. 13.
Frank W. Parke, 59, died June 3, 1957 in Anacorets, Skagit County, Washington.
ROSA
1924 St. George, Kansas "Mrs. Dora Luttig and Mrs. Rosa
Pratt of Colby, Kansas, are spending a few days in the Dick Peddicord and
Bob Ginder homes."
Rosa Pratt, dying in 1948 at age 79, is buried in Colby, Kansas # 34072891.

in Menlo, Iowa., Saturday, after spending several
days with her sister, Mrs. Dora Luttig, and her father, J. F. Smallwood,
accompanied her home, A. Luttig and wife went as far as Topeka
with them."

June 1922 St. George "Mrs. Dora Luttig left for Colby, Sunday evening to
stay with her sister, Mrs. Capps, for some time."
DORA
Dora B. Smallwood claimed a quarter in section 24, 8S 51W -
near Flagler, Colorado - in 1891.
In 1900 Woodson County, Kansas, August Luttigg is farming, born May 1862 in Germany, Dora Sept 1865 in Indiana, Ida Sept 1892 and Jessie May 1894 in COlorado. August's brother John was born May 1855 in Germany.
