"Emery Weldon Rodabaugh, the son of Jollie and Ida Mable (Schlegel) Rodabaugh, was born on the Rodabaugh homestead near Phillips, Nebraska on February 14, 1921 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on April 2, 2005, at the age of 84.
He grew up ½ mile west of the Monroe Church and attended School District 45. Emery worked a short time as an electrical apprentice for a shop in Aurora before entering the service. Emery served in the Army during World War II with the 50th Signal Battalion, where he went from Utah Beach Normandy to the Battle of Northern France. Emery entered Germany on September 15, 1944 and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. After that he crossed the Rhine and on through Germany, he met the Russians at Leipzig, Germany. Emery was honorably discharged from the Army on December 8, 1945. In 2001, Emery received his high school diploma from Elm Creek High School in the Veterans Recognition Program.
On May 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Eloise Grotzky at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grand Island. After returning from the service, Emery worked for KMMJ in Grand Island. He then went to work for the FAA as an electronics maintenance engineer. This job took them to Laramie, Wyoming, Rock Springs and Pierre, South Dakota before returning to the Marquette area. Emery worked for the FAA for 20 years until he retired in 1974. After retiring he worked part-time for Farrell Instruments.
Emery (WOEXK) was an avid amateur radio operator. His call letters were WOEXK. He was a charter member of the G.I. Amateur Radio Society, where he mentored many new members. Emery built two houses over the years and took great pride in being a conservationist of the land. He helped with the Harvest of Harmony in Grand Island for many years. Emery was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in, died by his parents, three infant brothers and sister, Bertha Seier.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Phyllis of Kearney; two sons, Tom (Vickie) Rodabaugh and Bruce (Glenda) Rodabaugh all of Marquette; two daughters, Pat (Gary) Brouillette of Elm Creek and Soni (Rick) Grint of Cleveland, Ohio; sister, Esther Funk of Madison; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren."

The Honorary bearers were Jerome Reuben Ek David Edgren and Rodney Wendell Winston Larson Phil Gustafson Interment was in the Aurora cemetery The Higby Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
John William Rodabaugh was born the son of Samuel and Bertha Reed Rodabaugh at Burlingd ton Colo September 15 1889 jived in Aurora since then and died at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora August 16 1964.
