Newark Ohio, October t, 1938 " Mrs. Elizabeth Barb, 72, widow of Allen Barb, lifelong resident of Etna township, died this morning in the home of her son, Louis E. Barb, in Etna. She had been ill the past three weeks and, died resulted from pulmonary embolism.
She was the daughter of Louis and Helen Bender. Surviving are ..Lewis,. another son Robert A. of New Albany, a daughter, Mrs. Eva Oldham of Reynoldsburg; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild: Three brothers, David Bender of Newark, John of Briggsvale, and Otto Bender of Reynoldsburg. Her husband and five children."

November 23, 1905 Elbert County "Mrs. William Bender was called to Burlington, Colo., last week by the, died of her mother. Mrs. Bender has the sympathy of many friends here."

March 21, 1907 Elbert County Tribune " Mr. and Mrs. William Bender are the proud parents of a new boy, born last week." (That would be Otto.)

May 1907 Fondis "While watering the horses the other evening, the oldest son of William Bender, living one and a half miles east of town, met with a serious accident. The horse he was riding threw him off. His foot caught in the bridle rein and the horse dragged him through the timber till he became unconscious. The front part of his head was severely cut, but at last reports he was getting along nicely."
Fondis, Colorado "On last Wednesday morning, Nov. 13, 1907, the Union Valley school house, where school was being taught by Miss Lucerne Scott, was burned to the ground, fire catching through a defective stovepipe. The school house was built 13 years ago by the individual work of the farmers of the district and its sudden end will be regretted by the many pupils that have been educated within its walls. The children showed great bravery in rescuing every article of furniture, not one thing being lost. William Bender, the treasurer of the school district, has generously donated the use of one of his buildings for the rest of the term. The school was located 1 1/2 miles east of Fondis.

May 1914 "Mr. Hachenberger and sister, Miss Clara, came from Denver to attend the burial of Mr. Bonder in Elbert, Mondny, and came out and visited two days with their sister, Mrs. Bender, returning to their home on Wednesday."

" WILLIAM BENDER Died at his home near Fondis, on Sunday, May 3. 1914, aged 51 years, 2 month, and 6 days. The deceased was born February 27, 1860, in the state of Pennsylvania, of German descent. In 1865 his parents moved to Columbus, Ohio. He became a resident of Colorado in 1887, locating in Kit Carson county, where he married in 1897 to Miss Dora H. Hachenberger.
The family moved to their present home in Elbert county in 1901.
He is survived by the widow and oight children, who mourn the, died of kind husband and an indulgent father." The funeral services were hold at the home on Monday, May 4, conducted Rev. Axton of tturPrekbyteafanchurcn and was attended by bis neighbors and acquaintances, who deeply sympathize with the wife and children. Interment was made in the Elbert cemetery."
