In 1900 Norton County, Kansas, Jerome Lafever born Dec 1841 in New York is farming, married 30 years to Nettie January 1850 New York. She's had five kids, four living. Clara J. Jan 1876 and Lou E. Feb 1878 were born in Iowa, Roscoe E. July 1885 and Lilia Oct 1892 were born in Kansas.
In 1895 Norton County, Garfield Township, E. S. Fackler is 50, born iN Pennsylvania, C.E 15 Iowa, S. M. 44 Pennsylvania, C. M. 18 Pennsylvania, and B.Tl. 10 born in Kansas.
Beulah Fackler is in Norton County in 1900, born June 1885 in Kansas, with Enoch born Sept 1844 in Pennsylvania and Sophia Dec 1851 Pennsyhlvania. Charles Sept 1879 in Iowa is married to Eva October 1876 Pennsylvania.

He was a member of the Norton G.A.R. for service as a private in B, 148th New York Infantry.
Yates County, New York history of its soldiers says "Important service to the Nation was rendered during the Great Civil War by the One Hundred and Forty-eighth Regiment, New York Volunteers, which was raised in the counties of Yates, Ontario, and Seneca, and organized September 14, 1862."
"In the sanguinary contests in front of Petersburg a prominent part was taken by the One Hundred and Forty-eighth, particularly in the fight at Rowlett's House on the 15th. At the Mine Explosion, on the morning of July 30th, the regiment, with its division, was ordered forward to the support of the attacking column that charged into the Crater. "

Hilda (La Fevre) Ellsworth 1906-1952 is buried in Norton # 49477771, dying in St. Joseph Misouri. Spouse Olen Wilbur Ellsworth 1911-1994 is buried in Grundy County, Missouri


Olen Wilbur Ellsworth was born September 25,1911,near Modena Missouri, in Mercer Co., the son of Edward and Sarah (Coon) Ellsworth. He passed away April 5,1994 at the Pleasant View Rest Home in Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 82 years,6 months,11 days.
He attended school in Princeton and Galt, Missouri. In his early life he helped his father farm. At age 10 he got his first colony of bees. Very much interested in bees,he left for Parma, Idaho,in 1930.to learn more about the care of bees and their production of honey. Wilbur spent five years in Idaho and then moved back to Shenandoah,Iowa, where he set up his own Apiary staying in this area about three years.Then he and his family moved to Tarkio to be in the area where more sweet clover was raised,the favorite honey producing plant for bees.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Tarkio. Wilbur was a lover for nature,raising garden and flowers. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
On March 2,1947,he was united in marriage to Hilda LaFevere in Norton, Kansas. She passed away May 19,1952, On December 24,1952 he was united in marriage to Helen Sager at Bloomfield,Iowa.


IVAN

In 1940 Norton, Ivan 32 is married to Ilo, 24, both born in Kansas.


Ivan F. LeFevre, 100, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Blue Rapids, Kan. A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Washington City Cemetery. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Musicians were Dr. Tom Perry and Kenneth McCune. They sang "In the Garden".

Ivan was born November 22, 1907, on a farm ten miles northwest of Norton, Kan., the son of Louis E. and Beulah P. (Fackler) LaFevre.
At the age of four, Ivan traveled by covered wagon with his parents and one older sister to eastern Colorado. They settled between Flagler and Seibert, Colorado. There they lived seven years in a sod house with dirt floors.
They then moved to a farm about 50 miles northwest of Springfield, MO, between Collins and Weaubleau, MO.
After four years, they moved back to Norton, KS, where he attended school in a one room school house and then later at Norton County High School.
After school Ivan farmed a few years and worked various jobs. He then served in the U.S. Navy for 2 1/2 years in the South Pacific during WWII.
Ivan worked for Beatrice Foods Co. for 35 years as a Field Superintendent and also as a Cream Procurement Manager at Lincoln, NE. He was to retire in 1972 but was asked to continue longer so he stayed until November 1973.
After retiring he worked part time at funeral homes and self service gas stations in Washington, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elisabeth LaFevre on Dec. 30, 1999; and three brothers, Louis, Buford and Verlo.

Survivors include two sons, David of Topeka, KS, and James of Boulder, CO; and one step-son, William Redmond of Littleton, CO.

In 1900 Norton County, May L. "Stama", born March 1890 in Nebraska, is with parents Abram Stama 32 born in Ohio(should be Iowa) and Sarah M. 32 in Illinois. Herbert A. 8 was born in Nebraska.

Sarah M. is in Norton County in 1910, 42, with Herbert A. 18 born in Nebraska, and daughter Fay M. 9 born in Kansas.

Charles F. Corns claimed a quarter in 21, 7S 50W in 1913. Sarah M. (Stamey) Corns claimed a quarter in 21, 7S 50W in 1913.

In 1920 Norton County, Sarah is 51, born in Illinois, married to Charlie Corns 50 born in Iowa. Iva Stamey 19 is with them . They're next to H. A. Stamey 28 and his wife May 27 and son Lyle 5. J. W. Corns 76 and Mary L. Corns 67 are with them, both born in Ohio.

Thomas W. Corns and Mary E. Brundege married on September 21, 1868 in Hardin, Ohio.

Thomas Corns is in Elkhart, Indiana in 1880, working in a boiler shop, 36, with Mary 27. Charles is 10, Hattie 5, and Maggie three months.

In 1900 Norton County, Kansas, Thomas W. Corns is farming, born December 1843, married 31 years to May April 1852, both born in Ohio. Charles F. Nov 1869 in Iowa, Ellen March 1880 in Indiana, Ida May 1885 and George W. October 1892 both born in Kansas.

Sarah is buried in Norton # 49100160, 1868-1963 "Sarah was the daughter of James H. and Charlotte Jane (Wardell) Bridgewater. She married Abram L. Stamey by whom she had three children: May, Herbert and Ivy. After Abram's death, Sarah married Charles Corns."


Abram L. Stamey 1867-1908 is buried in Norton # 37819011.

Ross E. La Fevre and Lizzie M. Stamey married in Norton County on March 23, 1910.

On the same as brother Louis in Kit Carson County in 1910 are Russ E. LaFevre 24 born in Kansas, just married to May Lizzie 20, both born in Kansas.
Ross Everett La Fevre registered for WWI in Kensington, Smith County, Kansas, a city engineer born July31, 1885, wife May.

Ross Lafevre is in Kansas City in 1930, 44, born in Kanass, an auto mechanic, with Susie (Lizzie?) 34 born in Kansas, a waitress.
Ross, born in Norton July 31, 1886, to Jerome B. LaFevre and Jennette Cormace, living at 1512 Washington St, died Dec 9, 1954 at his home, to be buried in Elmwood. The informant was Mrs. Margie M. LeFevre at the same address.

"Ross Everett Lafevre, age 68 years, 1512 Washington St., passed away Dec 9, 1954. Survived by his wife, Mrs. La Fevre of the home; daughter, Mrs. Ferne Andrews, Onawa, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Lila McClenny, Wheat Ridge, Colorado."

His stone "Husband" # 74067078.
Onawa, Monona County, Iowa "Ferne Juanita Andrews, 74, Onawa, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 11, 1987, in Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa following a long illness.
She was born at Kensington, Kansas, on March 21, 1912, the daughter of Roscoe and Mae (Stamey) LeFevre. She graduated from high school in Kansas City. She graduated from beauty school in Kansas City and was a beautician until her marriage to Donald Andrews, January 19, 1939, at Hill City, Kansas.
The couple moved to Onawa in 1943. Mr. Andrews died April 10, 1976, at Onawa. Ferne was formerly employed at Ford Apparel and the Onawa Public Library.
Survivors include Gilbert and Kathleen Gotto of Castana and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 1987, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating.
Bearers were William Murdock, Kenneth Murdock, Jr., Rick Reiners, Charles Carritt, Gilbert Gotto and James Grimmer.
Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral home, Onawa, Iowa. "
