Samuel and Rhoda (Fry) Beidlelman, Burlington
Rhoda Fry was in Coschocton County, Ohio in 1850, age 3, with George 50
and Charlotte 40. John and Ann, (whose
husband Sherwood and two children claimed land in Kit Carson County) are 15, Mary 12, Edwin G. and Samuel 11, Vorees and Amanda 8.
Charlotte Guiberson was born on October 4, 1809 in New Jersey.
She was married to George FRY on June 3, 1828 in Holmes County, Ohio.
George FRY was born in 1808 in Pennsylvania. He appeared on the census in 1860 in Madison Township, Madison County, Iowa. George Fry, 52, born in Pennsylvania is listed as head of a household consisting of:
Charlotte, 50, born in Pennsylania;
Mary Jane, 23, born in Ohio;
Samuel, 21, born in Ohio;
Rhoda, 14, born in Ohio;
Elizabeth Guiberson, born in New Jersey;
Charlotte Strikes, 3, born in Iowa.
George's occupation is listed as farmer. He has real estate valued at $200 and personal estate of $80.
Charlotte GUIBERSON and George FRY had the following children:
i. Mary Jane FRY was born in 1837 in Ohio. She appeared on the census in 1860 in Madison Township, Madison County, Iowa.
ii. Samuel FRY was born in 1839 in Ohio. He appeared on the census in 1860 in Madison Township, Madison County, Iowa.
iii. Rhoda FRY was born in 1846 in Ohio.
Voorhes, 1841-1851 is buried in Winterset, Iowa per # 13741576,
so they must have moved from Ohio soon.
George C. Fry 1799-1870 is buried in Madison County, Iowa # 128590446.
Rhoda Fry and Samuel Beidelman married in Madison County, Iowa on November 28, 1867.
Samuel Beidelman applied for an invalid veteran's pension in September 1879, for service in A, 41st Illinois Infantry.

Rhoda applied for a widow's pension on January 12, 1907.
Doniphan, Nebraska "The little village had assumed enough of
the pretensions of a town by the time it was
five years old so that on January 9, 1884, on
the petition of thirty-three resident tax-payers
the south half of section 5 and all of section
8, town 9, range 9, and southeast quarter of
section 1 and east half of section 12, town 9,
range 10 was incorporated as the village of
Doniphan. A. M. Sweeney, James Scudder,
J. W. Burg, D. O. Grice and Samuel Beidelman were appointed to constitute the first
board of trustees. "
"Samuel Fry established a store in 1880 that
flourished for a long time as Fry & Beidelman,
was later sold out, and finally the stock was
disposed of and the establishment went out
of business.

"SAMUEL FRY, firm of Fry & Beidelman, dealers in groceries, boots and shoes, and farmer's produce. Opened business in the fall of 1880. Carries a stock of $1,500. He first came to Doniphan, Neb., in 1880. Born in Holmes County, Ohio, February 1, 1839; lived in his native State until 1850, when his people moved to Winterset, Iowa. Enlisted December 11, 1862, in Co. H, 11th Regiment Illinois Cavalry. Was in several skirmishes; taken prisoner at Holly Springs, June 21, 1863; held sixteen days as prisoner. Mustered out in Memphis, Tenn.; paid off in Springfield, Ill. Went to St. Louis, Mo., and engaged in the grocery trade until he came to Nebraska. Was married in the latter city in 1870 to Miss Madeline Enders, of Baden, Germany. Have one son, named Joseph Albert. Mr. Fry owns a farm of eighty acres of land joining the town site, all under cultivation, and has a brick yard on the same."
In 1880 Hall County, Nebraska, Otto is 11, with parents
Samuel 38 a post-master. Rhoda 32, Samuel 2. 9,
and Melville 4. Rhoda's mother Charlotte Fry, 70 is with them. So is Mary E. Kuhn, 33, a milliner born in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Gillette and Sam Beidelman organized the first school district
in the new Kit Carson county, at Bethune about 1888.
Samuel Beidelman was the sheriff of Kit Carson
County 1890-1891.
He claimed a quarter in section 35, 8S 45W in 1891.
He was a member of the Burlington Masonic lodge in 1895.
Goodland, Kansas January 1898 "Otto Beidelman, of the car repairers' department, will be transferred to Roswell." (Roswell was a post office 1899-1908 near Colorado Springs, no absorteded into COlorado Springs)
"Melville Beidelman, was here from Colorado Springs Sunday
visiting his brothers, Sam and Otto."
In 1900 El Paso County, Samuel is farming, born October 1839 in Indiana,
with Rhoda Sept 1847 Ohio. She's had four kids, three living. Otto, born November 1868 in Iowa, and Charlotte Fry, 90 is still with them.
Colorado Springs 1901 " Braden of Roswell spent Saturday at Mr. S. Beidleman's. Mr. Beidleman has been confined to bis bed with the grippe. Mr. Otto Beidleman has resumed his old position as foreman of car inspection for the Rock Island at Roswell. "
January 30, 1901 Falcon, Colorado "Grandma Frye,
mother of Mrs. S. Beidleman, died Friday morning at 1 o'clock a. m.
of a paraletic stroke. She was almost 91 years of age and was a
much beloved old lady. She was buried Saturday at Evergreen cemetery,
Colorado Springs. Among the relatives who attended the funeral were
Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Biedleman of Goodland Kansas, and Mr. and Mrs. Braden
of Roswell." (Mary Ellen Braden, Jerome's wife, was the daughter of Anne Frey Howerton. Mary Ellen 1853-1945 is buried in Macon County Illinois._
February 13, 1901 Colorado Springs "On January 25th, 1901, many relatives and friends
were made sorrowful by the death of Mrs. Charlotte Frye. Mrs. Frye was born in Westmoreland county,
Penn., March 1, 1810. Most of her life, however, was spent in Iowa,
she being one of the pioneers of that state. She was the mother of eleven children,
six of whom are still living. For thirty years Mrs. Frye made her home with her daughter,
Mrs. Rhoda Beidelman, who lives near Falcon and at whose home
she was when she died.
For eight years she lived in Roswell. Most every one in the village was her friend, for
"To know her was to love her." At the time of her death Mrs. Frye was nearly ninety-one years of age.
She lived to see the fifth generation of children, having a great, great, grand child ten years of age.
Until twenty-four hours before her death Mrs. Frye was in very good health and was continually at work."
1902 "Melville Beidleman, who is connected with the Denver Music company of Denver, has been spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Beidleman, on their ranch southeast of town."
December 31, 1903 Colorado Springs "Otto and Sara? Beidelman ate their
Christmas dinner with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Beidelman, Sr."
Samuel was a member of the Burlington, Colorado Masonic lodge in 1904.
In 1905 Colorado Springs, Otto is a car inspector for the Chicago Rock Island & Pacific Railway, boarding at 2419 N. Nevada with Mrs. Rhoda Beidelman.
Samuel is not mentioned here, so he must have died and then buried later??
Samuel "Beidleman" was buried in Colorado Springs December 6, 1906, per # 34401496.
December 21, 1906 "Samuel Beidelman, Sr., father of
Samuel Beidelman, Jr., now traveling engineer on the Kansas division
of the Rock Island, died at his home near Flagler, Colo., Friday,
December 16. Mr. Beidelman was once sheriff of Kit Carson county and
lived at Burlington, Colo. He leaves a widow and three sons."
In 1910 Kit Carson County, Otto is farming and living alone, 42, born in Iowa, father in Pennsylvania, mother in Iowa.
Rhoda is living alone in 1910 Kit Carson County, on a
different page than Otto.
Rhoda claimed a quarter in section 19, 8S 50W in 1913.
1914 Goodland, Kansas " Mrs. R. Beidelman of Flagler, Colo.,
arrived here Wednesday to make an extended visit with her son,
S. Beidelman, and family."
OTTO
Otto was assigned a scrip claim in 1891
for a quarter in 35, 8S 45W, originally in favor of
James Malone, private in the First U.S. Infantry, New Mexico Indian War 1850-1855.
Otto claimed a tract in 31, 7S 50W in 1912,
and another quarter next to it in 1914.
He was the Kit Carson County clerk in 1915 and 1917.
In 1920 Kit Carson County, Rhoda is 73, Otto 57 running a grocery store, and brother Melville 43 born in Nebraska is a traveling piano salesman.
In 1930 Lakewood, Colorado, Otto is 61, a poultryman, and Melville 54 is a piano salesman.
In 1940 Burlington, Colorado, Otto is 71, a timekeeper, lodging with the Mack M. Loyd family
SAMUEL
Goodland Kansas - November 26, 1897
"Miss Grace Prewitt and Mr. Sam Beidleman were married at
the home of the bride's parents in Kansas City, Kan.,
Wednesday evening. Miss Prewitt is a Goodland girl
and one of the handsomest of its many handsome women.
Mr. Beidleman is an employee of the Rock Island and during
his sojourn here has made a host of friends.
The Republic's hearty congratulations are tendered
the young couple. They will make their future home
in Goodland"
Samuel is mentioned in Goodland, Kansas May 31, 1901
"Engineer Beidelman returned Tuesday from a ten-days
sojourn on a ranch near Falcon." Falcon is where the father Samuel was living in 1900.
Samuel is in Denver in 1900 a locomotive fireman,
born Sept 1872 in Iowa, married two years to Grace
Oct 1877 Nebraska. They have Lorene Feb 1900.
Grace's siblings James Prewitt 27, Paula 18, and Mayme 16 are living with them.
June 19, 1901 Colorado Springs "Mrs. Sam Beidelman and little
daughter of Goodland, wife of Engineer Sam Beidelman,
of the Rock Island, came out on Friday to spend a few weeks at the
Beidelman ranch."

February 1904 Falcon, Colorado news items "Mrs. S. Beidelman, who has been ill for some time, was taken to Roswell Wednesday, and is reported much better.
Engineer Sam Beidelman goes to Herrington, Monday, where he has a good position."
1904 Goodland " Mrs. S. Beidleman, of Denver, Colo.,
was in Goodland a few days this week, the guest of Mrs. George Fuller.
Mrs. Beidelman is on her way to Herington, Kan.,
where she will live in the future, as her husband is traveling engineer
on the Kansas division of the Rock Island, with headquarters at that place."
In 1905 Topeka, Kansas, S. Beidleman is 32, Grace 26, and Lorine 5. Pearl Prewitt, 22 is with them.
1906 Topeka
1917 Goodland, Kansas "Mrs. F. H. Smith, Mrs. Henrietta Getz,
Mrs. A. D. Stewart and Fred Fay returned Sunday evening from a
pleasure trip to Denver and Colorado Springs. Miss Dorothy Getz remained in Colorado Springs for a visit with her little friend, Miss Mildred Beidelman."
Samuel is in Denver in 1920, a railroad engineer, 47, with Grace 39, Loraine 19, and Mildred 14.
Samuel 1870-1947 is buried in Denver, # 11640368, with Grace Prewitt 1868-1927.
Grace's father is likely James D. Prewitt 1839-1918 buried in Leavenworth # 37989414.
Her mother Mary 1846-1891 is buried in Goodland, Kansas # 97470307.
Lorraine Beidelman and David L. Thompson married in Colorado on March 29, 1924.
Loraine B. Thompson, 30, is married to David L. Thompson 32 in 1930 Denver, with David R. 1, all born in Colorado.
Mildred Beidelman Culver 1905-1991 is buried in Denver # 94039939.
June 21, 1999 "Lewis Matson Culver of Denver, a designing engineer, died Tuesday in Denver. He was 94.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Blvd., Cherry Hills Village. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
He was born March 26, 1905, in Denver. On Sept. 20, 1927, he married Mildred Beidelman. She preceded him in death.
Culver was a designing engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation, where he helped plan such projects as the Grand Coulee and Boulder dams.
He is survived by a son, Richard, Denver; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. "
MELVILLE
1902 Colorado Springs "Melville Beidleman, who is connected with the Denver Music company of Denver, has been spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Beidleman, on their ranch southeast of town."
1906 Aspen, Colorado "The Elks have purchased a beautiful Weber Pianola of Mr. Beidleman,
agent for the Denver Music company. This will be a big attraction in their club rooms."
July 1906 Aspen "M. B. Beidleman was an outgoing passenger on last evening's Grande for Gunnison, to remain
a short time on business.
He will then return to Aspen to attend to business for a popular music concern, the Denver Music company."
