December 5, 1918 Aurora, Nebraska " Isaac W. Schoonover, well known
pioneer settler in this county, passed from life on Wednesday night of last week,
and was laid to rest in the Aurora cemetery Friday afternoon.
Owing to tbe illnee of Mrs. Matlock, the service could not be held at the home
of the son, James Schoonover, in this city.
The body was taken to tbe cemetery and a ebort service was conducted there by Rev. C. C.
Dobbs of tbe Christian church. Burial was beside the wife and a baby son,
both of whom died in the 80's.
Isaac W. Schoonover was born in Pike county, Ohio, in 1847, being 71 years of age
at the time of his death.
He resided in Ohio until the year 1871, when with his family he came to Hamilton
county. He homeateaded in Beaver precinct, the place cornering with the J. H.
Wilkins homestead. Later he bought other land in the neighborhood,
and at one time owned a half section. He was married in Ohio to Miss
Mary Ann Hyatt, and six children were born to this union.
One son died in 1881 at the age of about one year,
and the wife died in 1888.
The surviving children are James of this city, William J. of Oil City,
Pennsylvania: Mrs. John E. Ogg of Kimberly, Idaho, Lee and Clyde,
both of whom reside in the west. In 1884 Mr. Schoonover sold his
farm and came to Aurora where for a number of year be was engaged in the
livery business. Shortly after the death of his wife he left Aurora and
since that time has made his home elsewhere."

"Joseph went to Colorado with his brother, William Hiram Schoonover, where they tried farming but lost everything. He was married 19 February 1878, in Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio, to Izelia Ferguson. Joseph was the son of James Schoonover and laura Wells. Do not know if he is buried in Colorado or taken back to Ohio."

December 25, 1920 Hugo "Mrs. John Olson of this city has the sympathy of her friends in Hugo
in the death of her mother, Mrs. Joseph Schoonover, who passed away at her home northwest of Genoa,
Sunday morning, December 12. Mrs. Schoonover leaves a husband, three sons and six daughters,
and had been a sufferer with Bright’s disease for the last twe years.
The funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 15, and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery
at Glen, Colorado."
In 1930 Genoa precinct, Lincoln County, Colorado, Joseph is living alone, 80, in a rented home, without a radio set.
He might be there because of William H. Schoonover, who claimed a quarter in section 7, 6S 54W in 1913.

October 1934 "Marie Precillia Schoonover was born at Venton, Ia.,
March 24, 1851, and departed this life September 29, 1934,
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Dodson, near Holyoke, Colo..
She was married to Alfred Carpenter October 25, 1871, at Venton, Ia.
To this union six children were born, two girls and four boys.
They moved to Kansas about eight years later. Her husband and two children
preceded her in death. Jessie D. and Mrs. Carpenter came to Colorado in 1917.
At the age of nine she joined the U. B. Church. In later years she joined by
letter the M. E. church. Mrs. Carpenter was Superintendent of Sunday School
for a number of years and always lived a faithful Christian life.
She leaves to mourn ner passing her children: Frank M. Carpenter,
Lewellen, Neb; Fred Carpenter, Linden, Colo.; Ira Carpenter, Watsonville, Calif.
; Ida Dodson, Holyoke, Colo., twenty-five grand children and thirty-two great grand children
and a host of friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carpenter and children of Lewellen, Neb.,
came Sunday evening to the Chas. Dodson home to attend Mr. Carpenter's
mother's funeral Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dodson, Mr. and Mrs. Will Long, and Rudy Dodson
left Monday to acompany Mrs. Carpenter's remains to Kensington, Kan.,
where her husband and daughter are buried."
February 1948 "Fred C. Schoonover of Stratton, a brother of Mrs. M. E. Piper,
came to Wray on Friday and the following day Mr. Schoonover and Mrs. Piper went
to McCook to visit two sisters. Mrs. Piper returned home Wednesday noon."
October 1949 Wray, Colorado "Mrs. Morley E. Piper received word last Thursday telling her of the death of her youngest brother, Earl F. Schoonover, of Wenatchee, Wash., who was killed instantly in an automobile accident that morning. Mr. Schoonover visited in Wray last spring and formerly made his home in Cambridge, Neb., before going to Wenatchee several years ago. He is survived by a wife, two children and four grandchildren. "
"Florence Schoonover, daughter of Franklin and Charlotte Schoonover,
was born near Elliott, Montgomery County, Iowa, on June 17 1880.
She moved with her family to Frontier County, Neb.,
in February 1886. She was married to Morley E. Piper on November 18, 1899."

Last rites for Mrs. Faye Norman of North Platte, Nebraska, a former resident of Holyoke, were held here Friday afternoon at the Lewis Funeral Home, with Rev. J. Wilson Branstetter, pastor of the local Methodist church, in charge. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park.
Mrs. Norman passed away Monday, December 3, in North Platte, where she had made her home for some time. She was 66 years of age.
As Fairy Faye Schoonover, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schoonover, Mrs. Norman was born on December 25, 1889 at Oxford, Nebraska.
She was united in marriage to William O. Norman on December 21, 1908, at Akron, Colorado.
To this union were born five children, four of whom survive. They are Mrs. Fern Burke, Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. Madge Williams, North Platte, Nebraska, Wayne Norman, La Salle, Colorado, and Mrs. June Nussbaum, La Salle, Colorado. Another son, Billy, lost his life in an automobile accident in Arizona in 1943 while serving in the armed forces. Mr. Norman passed away in 1949. Also preceding Mrs. Norman in death were her parents and several sisters and brothers.
Surviving besides the children mentioned are two sisters, Mrs. Della Peterson, Kearney, Nebraska, and Mrs. Bernice Lehnerz, Seattle, Washington; one brother, V.A. Schoonover, Limon, Colorado; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

"Mrs. Harriet Schoonover, 63, resident of Lead for the past 39 years, died early this morning
at Homestake Hospital in Lead. She had been ill for the past year and entered the hospital Thursday.
Mrs. Schoonovcr was born July 28, 1892 to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schoonover of Oxford, Neb.
She was married in Nebraska in 1919 to Hiram A. Schoonover and the couple made their home In Missouri
for a time, later coming to Lead where they since resided.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband who died in Lead Dec. 26, 1951.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. A. Scarborough of Rapid, and Mrs. R. Cleveland, Lead;
a son, Captain Kenneth Schoonover, now stationed in Germany; a grandson, Phil Cleveland, Lead;
two granddaughters, Patty Kay and Leslie JoAnn Schoonover, Blacktail; a brother, Vauphan Schoonover,
Limon Colo, and three sisters, Mrs. Della Peterson, Kearney, Neb., Mrs. Kay Norman, North Platte, Neb,,
and Bernice, who resides .."
August 3, 1981 "Word was received in Lead by Mrs. Robert (Betty) Cleveland and Audrey French
of the death of their brother, Kenneth K. Schoonover. retired U.S. Army major. Major Scoonover had been
living in Furth. West Germany and died July 13. He had been seriously ill for over a year.
Funeral services were held in Munich, West Germany July 20. Schoonover was born in Missouri Valley,
Mo., Nov. 15, 1915, to H. A. and Harriet Schoonover. The family came to Lead in 1916 and he
attended Lead schools. He was a graduate of Lead High School in 1933. He was a member of the
Baptist Church and also had been an affiliate of the Masonic Lodge. He was married to the former
Edith Marie Prestjohn in Black Hawk and he is survived by two daughters from this union:
Leslie (Mrs. James Walls) of Black Hawk, and Sister Patricia Schoonover of St. Paul.
His second wife is Margaret Angerer of West Germany, who survives.
Also surviving are twin daughters, Beatrice and Karin of Munich. He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Schoonover had returned to the United States for medical care and was in critical condition at
Fitzsimmons Medical Center in June 1980. Later that fall he was hospitalized at Ellsworth Air Force Base
Medical Center, and then returned to Germany."
