Memories of Seibert "Rogers' wife Mary was an agent for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific
Railroad for many years. Located about one hundred feet north of the post office was the Seibert
Free Press, formerly the Hoyt Free Press. Its owner, G.L. Olds, sold the paper in 1889 to a Mr. Patterson
who only published it for a few months before it failed. The paper's assets were sold to Frank Mann
who used them to start a paper in Burlington. "

February 15, 1917 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. He was an editor in bookkeeping.

Ozark, Missouri " Word reached Ozark last week announcing the death of E. E. Patterson at
Greenville, Texas on February 15. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. S. R. McWhirter, Friday afternoon the 16th. The deceased leaves a wifa and two daughters,
Mrs. Ethel McWhirter and Miss lmogene, one son, Harold having died while they lived in Ozark a number
of years ago. Mr. Patterson was about 70 years of age and for many years had lived in Ozark,
having had one or twc newspaper ventures here, the last being a
Populist paper known as the Searchlight and for a number of years was leader of the Ozark band
in its palmy days. He left here some sixteen years ago."

May 9, 1984 Paris, Texas "Paris attorney Robert McWhirter, 2314 Cleveland, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday,
May 9, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paris. He was president of the Paris, Texas Industrial Foundation Inc.,
and was a former mayor of Paris. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, at Fry
and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dick Atkinson and the Rev. Ray Starnes of the
First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
McWhirter had served as president of the Paris, Texas Industrial Foundation Inc. since 1953.
During his tenure with the foundation, he was instrumental in the decisions of Agpro, Inc.,
Superior Switchboard and Devices, Flex-O-Lite, Dixie Cap Rubber Co., Hollywood-Vassarette, UARCO,
Ford Southwestern Training Center, Campbell Soup, Merico Cake and Box Plants,
Southwestern Foundry and Kimberly-Clark to locate operations in Paris.
He was honored by the Chamber of Commerce on April 2, 1979, for the industrial expansion of Paris
and Lamar County and for his leadership. He was elected to the city council in 1955 and served until
1959. He was mayor in 1958-59. He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce
Board of Directors in 1953-54."
