RETA
Sabetha Kansas, January 2, 1896 "Married.
Wednesday, December 25th, at the Ebenezer church in
Bern, Mr. Alexander Nusbaum and Miss Lorretta M. Keeler.
The church had been beautifully decorated for the
occasion with flowers and evergreens and was crowded
with relatives and friends long before the appointed
hour. At 7:30 o'clock. Rev. H. W. Hartman opened the
exercises with an appropriate talk about Christmas,
choosing for his text "Peace on earth and good will
toward men." Promptly at 7:45, Miss Leta Keeler,
being seated at the organ, struck the opening strains
of Mendelsshon's wedding march, when the bridal
party entered, accompanied by Mr. J. T. Nusbaum and
Miss Emma Nusbaum. The bride looked lovely in a
changeable blue-and-steel colored silk with white
trimmings, while the bridesmaid was attired in pure
white and each carried a bouquet of white roses.
The groom and groomsman wore the conventional suit of
black. Rev. Hartman performed the short but
impressive ceremony which united the destinies of
two of our most popular young people, after which
twenty-five of the nearest relatives adjourned to
the home of the bride's parents to partake of the
wedding supper and wish the happy couple every
blessing this life affords.
They departed at a late hour leaving many
beautiful presents which will serve through life
to recall each into loving remembrance.
Mr. Nusbaum is a prosperous young farmer
who has won the confidence and esteem of
all who know him, while his bride is a general
favorite, having lived in the vicinity of
Bern from childhood. They will be at home to
their friends after January fifteenth at
their residence two miles south-east of Bern." "

MAMIE
March 12, 1912 FOrt Scott, Kansas.
" One month from now, or very near that time,
a simple but at the same time most attractive wedding
in Manila, will be the culmination of a decidedly
romantic courtship, and one which Fort Scott will have
soma interest, because the bride, Miss Mamie Keeler,
has been for the past several mouths a teacher in the
public schools. The groom, Mr. Frank Smith, is a former
Kansas boy, and well known as an educator. He has been
supervisor of the schools of Cebu, a small island near
Manila, for the past three years. He first met Miss
Keeler when he was principal of a high school in the
western part of the state, and Miss Keeler was
teaching in the same school. The trip from here to
Manila will take about a month's time. Miss Keeler
leaves here Monday morning early, going to Kansas
City, and later on to Seattle. At the latter place
she sails on the Minnesota, the largest passenger
vessel cn the Pacific. The boat stops for three
days in Tokio, Japan, and Miss Keeler is looking
forward to a delightful sight-seeing trip there.
She will also stop for some time at the Hawaiian
Islands. At Manila she will be met by Mr. Smith,
and they will be married there.
The bride is taking her gown with her from
here. It is a dainty lace trimmed affair,
which she has designed and made all herself.
She will wear a veil, and while far away from
here, plans to have an attractive wedding service.
It is probable that she will be on the way more
than a month, but the wedding will take place
immediately on her arrival at Manila. The young
people expect to spend their honey moon in the
mountains. Mr. Smith is supervisor of the
schools on the entire island, which has an area
of over 700 miles. This is his vacation time.
Miss Keeler is a girl of attractive personality
and a decidedly winsome and pretty manner.
During her stay here she has won an unusually
large circle of friends, who are sending a
world of congratulations and best wishes with
her."
