"Jane Beam, 76, Goodland, died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, in a vehicle crash south of Goodland on Highway 27. Mrs. Beam was born Jane Morton on March 10, 1921, in Kit Carson County, and was a resident, of rural Kanorado before moving to Goodland in 1949. She was in the food preparation business and operated dining rooms in Hotel Watters, Hotel Goodland for several years, Sunflower Grill and was food supervisor for the Goodland School District, retiring after 20 years of service.
A daughter, Patricia Miller, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, James of Goodland; a daughter, Kathy Every of Wichita; a brother, Marion Morton of Berthoud, four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Bateman Funeral Home, the Rev. Gene Tromble officiating. Burial will be in Goodland Cemetery."

"John Ibert was born in the year 1852, July 26th, in New Philadel phia, Tuscarawas county, Ohio. He was baptized in the Lutheran church in his youth. He came west in early life to Jewell county, Kansas, and in the year 1879 he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Scammey, June 15th. To this union were born one son and four daughters. Mr. Eibert came to western Kansas in the spring of .1887 and fettled on a homestead where he has been a faithful farmer ever since. Mr. Ibert became ill some time he quietly passed away at his home in Sheridan county, Kansas. His children were all present: Lonney M. Ibert and Mrs. Ruby Blackburn, who made their home with him; Mrs. Villa Massingill and Mrs. Mabel Rodle, of Hoxie, Kansas; and Mrs, Mary Morton, of Colorado. Mr. Ibert died oh Thursday morning at 4:30. He was 58 years, 3 months and 15 days He leaves devoted wife, five Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Foster, pastor1 of the C. U. church at Dresden, Kansas. The body was laid to rest in the Hoxie cemetery. "
