One tree said William Fred Blumenthal died in 1892 in Flagler, Colorado. Another said he died April 21, 1891, and buried in Evans, father Hans Christoph Blumenthal and Marie Elizabeth Schunemann.

"Mrs. Blumenthal" received assistance from the Weld County commissioners in January 1904.

Stewart B. Moore, 40, married Minnie "Bloomentau" on January 20, 1901 in Evans, COlorado.

In 1910 Weld County, Stewart B. Moore is a laborer, 57, born in Ohio, with Minnie A. 28 born in Nebraska, married ten years. Katie 8 and Daniel 6 were born in Colorado.
In 1920 Weld County, Stewart is a farm laborer, 69, Minnie 34, Katie 18 and Daniel 16.

Minnie is widowed in 1930 Evans, Colorado, with Katie M. 28 a phone operator and Daniel A. 27 doing odd jobs.
July 23, 1930 "Mrs. Minnie Moore, 49, of Evans, died Tuesday evening at her home in Evans from paralysis. She is survived by two children, Daniel and Katie; her mother, Mrs. Jane Blumenthal; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Frye and Sophie Blumenthal of Evans, and Mrs. Laura Croft of Greeley; and two brothers, Fred Blumenthal of Fort Collins and William Blumenthal of Evans.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 o'clock Thursday at Macy's chapel. Interment at Evans cemetery."

February 20, 1951 "Daniel Stewart Moore of Evans died at Weld County Public hospital Tuesday morning. He was 47 years old.
Born March 16, 1903 in Evans, Mr. Moore attended Evans schools and lived there all his life. He worked, for the Great Western Sugar company 22 campaigns. He was a member of the volunteer fire department of Evans and of the Methodist church in Evans.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Moore, two daughters, Sally Lea and Minnie ?elle, both at home; and a sister, Miss Katie Moore.
Funeral services will be 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from Macy's drawing room, with interment at Evans cemetery."

Minnie Bell (Fry) (Jochim) Hall is buried in Greeley 1895-1975 #62222634, with John S. Jochim 1883-1937 # 65224977.

FRED

Fred Blumenthal married Fanchion Dema Becker on October 6, 1914, recorded in Weld County.

In 1920 Fort Collins, Fred Blumenthal is 36, married to Mamie 26, with Pauline 6. Brother William M. 29 is with them, a laborer in a sugar beet factory.

January 1918 "Policeman Fred Blumenthal has been advised that his brother, W. M. Blumenthal, well known here, has enlisted in the marine corps, and is now at Mare Island navy yard, where he is in tralning."

December 1920 "Mrs. Fred Blumenthal and daughter Pauline returned to Fort Collins Tuesday afternoon after spending a pleasant Christmas visit with Mrs. Blumenthal's mother, Mrs. Paul Hinchell, in Greeley.

1922 "Officer Fred Blumenthal is a peace maker as well as a peace preserver. Coming upon a group of boys surrounding two youthful combatants, Blumenthal inquired the cause of the fracas. One of the battlers said the other owed him thirty cents. The other said his foe was indebted to him for a bicycle chain. Blumenthal told them it looked like an even trade and suggested the boys call it square. They agreed and the spectators disbanded when the opportunity of seeing a scrap was lost."

1931 "Fred Blumenthal was recently appointed chief of the Fort Collins, Colorado, police department. Blumenthal has been a peace officer in northern Colorado for fourteen years. He was formerly deputy sheriff of Larimer county."




1931 "Fred Blumenthal wanted the appointment as chief of police and for that reason, If for no other, Mayor Harry Hartman was justified in making tho promotion. Chief Blumenthal haa a record of more than thirteen years faithful service on the city force. He is untiring as a worker and he is recognized as honest. He has been loyal and faithful to- his superiors and to the city. No one claims Mr. Blumenthal ti be particularly brilliant. But the quail ticatlons he possesses are mightj sound ones and with the guiding wis dom of Mayor Hartman, there is every reason to expect a continuation of thi first class police administration which Port Collins is receiving."

Fred C. Blumenthal 1883-1969 is buried in Fort Collins # 52558708.
Chief Blumenthal began his law enforcement career as a police officer and night watchman for the Evans Colorado Police Department. He also served for two years, 1924 and 1925 as a Larimer County deputy sheriff. He was hired by the FCPD in 1917 and, other than the two years he served as Larimer County deputy, worked there until 1944 (I was unable to determine what job he held at FCPD after his resignation as chief in 1935).  
     After his retirement from the police department in 1944, Chief Blumenthal was hired as city hall janitor, a position he held until 1964. That year he was 80 years old and the city honored him as the oldest current employee and for having the longest length of city service.  
     Chief Blumenthal died on February 7, 1969 and is buried in Grandview Cemetery- Fort Collins, Colorado.

March 28, 1960 "Miss Sophia Blumenlhal, 74, of 1636 7th St., Evans, died late Sunday night at Weld County Genera] hospital. She had been ill for two years. Born Nov. 20, 1885 at Blue Hill, Neb., Miss Blumenthal came to Evans in 1894. She was a member of Ihe Evans Methodist church. Surviving are a sisler and a brother, Mrs. Laura Craft of Evans and Fred Blumenlhal of Fort Collins; and the following nieces and nephew, Mrs. Belle Cochran of Kersey, Arthur Fry of La Salle, Miss Kale Moore of Evans and Mrs. Lora Smith of Ontario, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday from Macys drawing room, with interment at the Evans cemetery."

LAURA
1950 Greeley "Mrs. Laura Craft arrived Monday from Long Beach, Calif, to spend two weeks with relatives. She will visit her sisters, Mrs. Lillie Fry and Sophia Blumenthal, and a brother, Fred Blumenthal, in Fort Collins."

Laura Blumenthal, born at Greeley, Colorado, 32, married John Oliver Craft of Long Beach, born at Windsor Colorado, a clerk in a billiard parlor. His father George W. Craft was born in Kansas, mother Sarah Hardesty in Zanesville, Ohio.
Laura said she was born in Hastings, Nebraska, parents Fred Blumenthal and Jane Powell in Chicago.

Laura (Blumenthal) Craft 1890-1972 is buried in Evans # 13957973 -
January 18, 1972 " Mrs. Laura Craft, who had lived in Evans since 1960, died at her home there late Monday. She was 81. Mrs. Craft was born Nov. 22, 1890, in Flagler. While she and her husband, the late John Craft, lived she operated a restaurant in Long Beach.
The couple was married Jan. 5 1925. In June, 1960, Mrs. Craft returned to Colorado to make her home in Evans. She attended the Evans Methodist Church.
She is survived by a sister-in law, Mrs. Mamie Blumenthal of Fort Collins, and several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Arthur Fry, Mrs. Belle Hall and Miss Katie Moore, all of Evans and Mrs. Lora Smith of Ontario, Calif.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Macy Allnut drawing Room, with interment in the Evans Cemetery."

Martha Blumentha, born September 21, 1887 at Flagler, married Henry Westra in Cheyenne Wyoming in July 1909, dying May 31, 1917.

Henry P. Westra, born September 30, 1886 in Amsterdam, Holland, registered for WWI in Greeley, a carpenter, widowed, with one child 7 years old.

Henry Westra, 32, married Zara Ward on July 3, 1918 in Severance, Weld County.
They're in Greeley in 1920, Henry 33, immigrating in 1868, with Lora N. 9, born in Minnesota? He's married to Zora L. 25 born in West Virginia.

Henry 1886-1947 is buried in Eaton # 88617570, with Zora L. 1894-1992.

November 1950 Greeley " A gift was presented to Mrs. Hicks, the former Zora Westra, who was married a few weeks ago. She is a former member of Tuesday Bridge club."

December 9, 1960 "'Stanley Hicks, 79, of 1645 6th Ave, died Friday morning at Weld County General hospital. He had resided in Greeley since 1943 and was a retired farmer. Born Aug. 13, 1881 in Illinois, he was reared in Illinois and farmed there until moving to Iowa in 1909. He resided at Dun v(an. and Hedrick, Iowa before moving to Greeley. He was a member of the First Methodist church and Greeley lodge No. 809, BPOE. He and Alice Gertrude Douglas were married in Illinois. She died in 1936. Hicks married Mrs. Zora X. Westra in La Salle. Sept. 1950. Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, Raymond Hicks of Greeley, Carl Hicks of What Cheer, Iowa, Howard Hicks of Bingen, Wash;, Mrs. Mabel Booth of Fairfield, Iowa and Mrs. Rita Ruggles of Packwood, Iowa. Also surviving are two step-children, Mrs. Betty Foster, and Mrs. Laura Smith of California, and a brother of Highland Center, Iowa.
Lora Westra 17 married Ross C. Smith on April 2, 1927 in Greeley.

Betty Foster, 81, of Greeley died Monday, June 17, 2002 at her home at Bonell Good Samaritan Center.She was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Greeley to Henry P. and Zora L. (Ward) Westra.On Feb. 7, 1959, she married Cecil E. Foster in Greeley. He died in 1987.Mrs. Foster was a buyer and seller of antiques. She and her husband had one of the largest privately owned collections. She often invited University of Northern Colorado students to her home for meals and holiday dinners. She loved to shop.Survivors include a son, Patrick L. Brinkman of Greeley, and two grandchildren, Trayce Brinkman of Denver and James Jason Brinkman of Greeley. A son, Robert Brinkman, died at birth, and a son, James A. Brinkman, died in 2001.Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Sunset Memorial Gardens.Northern Colorado Crematory is in charge of arrangements."

January 3, 1970
"Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Macy Allnutt Drawing Room for Marvin Clay Niblack, 1211 11th St., retired railroad telegrapher, who died early New Year's Day at Weld County General Hospital. He was 72.
Interment was nt the Arvada Cemetery Saturday afternoon. A native of Elkton, Mo., Niblack was born Dec. 19, 1897. He was a veteran of World War I, serving as electrician's mate third class, U. S. Navy, and later worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 45 years before he retired at La Salle in 1962. He married Iva Edna Vicek in Wichita, Kan., May 20, 1920. Mrs. Niblack died Sept. 20, 1960.
He married Mrs. Zora Westra Hicks in Greeley on Aug. 24, 1963.
He was a member of Ihe Union Pacific Old Timers Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Zorn Niblack; five sons, Dennis L. Niblack of Denver, Lynian D. Niblack of Oklahoma City, Okla., M. Claytom Niblack of Mountain View, Calif., Gary Dean Niblack of Winston-Salem, N. C., and C. Myron Niblack of Broomfield. Also surviving are a brother, Willis Niblack of Yuqlipa, Calif., two step-daughters, Mrs. Betty Westra Kosler of Greeley and Mrs. Laura Smith of Ontario, Calif., and 12 grandchildren.

"Mary Lessa SIMMONS, 83, died Friday, Dec. 20th, 1991, in Seattle, WA. She was born Nov. 15, 1908, in Auburn, Ritchie County, WV, the youngest daughter of the late Charles and Catherine WARD. She was a resident of Parkersburg for several years prior to moving to Port Angeles, WA, in 1948. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ray, in 1982. Surviving are four daughters, Betty J. GRAHAM of Lynnwood, WA, Mary L. RENNER of Port Angeles, Carol S. MOFFAT of Calgary, Canada, and Rhea J. BLANCHARD of Edmonds, WA; a son Donald R. SIMMONS of Seattle, WA; and a sister, Zora NIBLACK of Greeley, CO."

He might be the Fred Groth in 1900 Weld County, a farm laborer for the Jane Blumenthal widow. He was born October 1854 in Germany, immigrating in 1882.

BROTHER AUGUSTUS
"August Blumenthal married Caroline Maria Dorothea Brau. August, born in 1846, came to the United States with his family in about 1867. Caroline followed in 1869. The Blumenthals settled first in Woodward County, Illinois, and later in Webster County, Nebraska. In the late 1880s, August moved to Provo, Utah, with his family. August was accidently electrocuted to death in 1902. Caroline died in 1936."

BROTHER LOUIS

1935 "The death of Louis Blumenthal occurred at the family home four miles northwest of Blue Hill on Thursday afternoon, September 5. He had been a resident of Adams County since 1870.
Louis Blumenthal was born on September 30, 1851 at Wilsnack, Province Brandenburg, Germany. He came to America in 1867 and for three years made his home in Illinois and then came to Adams County, Nebraska where he lived on his farm until the time of his death.
On May 5, 1883 he was united in marriage to Miss Helena Koepke who preceded him in death on September 20, 1907. Ten children were born to this union, two of them departing this life in infancy.
Despite his advanced age Mr. Blumenthal had been in good health all his years. He was able to be about until the last and was daily doing a little work on the farm. Last Thursday afternoon at 5:20 his end came suddenly and unexpected following a heart attack. He reached the good age of 83 years, 11 months and 5 days.
He leaves to mourn his departure eight children, Mrs. Alma Hauck of Hastings: Walter of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; Louise of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Minnie Reichstein of Campbell, Neb.; Albert at home; Mrs. Flora Needham of Hastings; Mrs. Nora Eversman of Hastings and Mrs. Charlatte Rowe at home. Seven grandchildren also survive."

BROTHER WILLIAM BLUMENTHAL

In 1880 Webster County, Nebraska, William Blumenthal is a butcher, 34, Auguste 22, with Bertha 1.

They're next to Albert Blumenthal, an implement dealer, 26 born in Prussia, with Bertha 21 born in Wisconsin. They have Emma eight months born in Nebraska.
Albert, 24 had married Bertha Heckendorf on November 8, 1877 in Adams County.
In 1920 Adams County, Colorado, Bertha is 61, widowed, living with farming sons Arthur 36 and Louis 38.



Bertha is buried in Boulder, Colorado, dying August 28, 1940, per # 11101262.
Son Irvin 1889-1953 is also buried there # 11101265, with his wife Lelia 1890-1975.


In 1900 Adams County, Nebraska, William Blumenthal is farming, born January 1846 , married 23 years to Augusta July 1857, both born in Germany. She's had twelve kids, all living. Bertha April 1879, Otto Oct 1881, Charles Sept 1882, Hulda July 1886, Emil Oct 1887, Albert March 1889, Paul January 1891, Minnie Dec 1892, Fritze Jan 1895, Morton Dec 1896, Robert March 1898, and Hugh May 1900. Ferdinand Preuss, brother-in-law, born Sept 1850 in Germany, is feeble-minded.
In 1910 Blaine County, Nebraska, William is farming, 64 immigrating in 1867, with Augusta 52 immigrating in 1859. Hulda is 24, Paul D. 19, Frederick C. 15, Martha A. 12, Robert E. 10, Hugo H. 9, all born in Nebraska. Brother-in-law Ferdinand Prusse 58 is still with them,immigrating in 1859, so he's likely Augusta's brother.

December 5, 1914 "Carl Blumenthal, Fort Morgan rancher, died at Mercy hospital, Denver, from injuries received when he was knocked down by his team of horses. The body was sent to Fort Morgan for burial."

"Heirs of Carl Blumenthal" proved up two quarters in section 4, 1S 58W, Adams County, Colorado in 1919.
