Emma L. Sypherd, 72, died at 4:30 Sunday afternoon at her home,
315 South Tenth street. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. A. W. Smith,
Wilsonville, Neb., Mrs. Clarence Carpenter, Hoxie, Kas.. and Mrs. F....
six sons, O. J. of Hastings, and James, Charlie, Harry, Jesse and Allen, all of Lincoln.
The body is being held at Hodgman's chapel pending funeral arrangements.
RUBY
Frederick Luginbill married Ruby E. Sypherd on October 13, 1909 in Flagler, Colorado.

Amelia Rutt was born December 26, 1903. They married 26 JUL 1919 in Grand Island, Hall, Nebraska.

RICHARD
1932 "Richard Sypherd, Kearney county,
was brought to the penitentiary Friday by Sheriff Kargo of Minden to start
serving a six months term for chicken theft."
Sidney, Nebraska 1938: District Judge Nisley sentenced Charles and Richard Sypherd to four years each in the penitentiary on charges of burglarizing a farm home north of Sunol last August. Authorities said they would release James Sypherd, brother of Charles and Richard, and a 19 year old girl.
Richard died in May 1946, and is buried in an unmarked grave in Hastings, per # 137129484.

"Matilda "May" Sypherd, 101, of Lakeview Care Center in Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish rosary at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Sypherd was born July 20, 1899 at Stuart to Joseph and Antonia (Regal) Ziska. She was baptized at St. Joseph's Church in Atkinson and attended grade school south of Stuart. She went to high school in Atkinson.
She married Hildred Wernke on Jan. 14, 1919.
On March 28, 1942, she married Richard Sypherd in Kearney. They moved to Hastings in 1944. Mr. Sypherd died in 1946. She moved to Grand Island in 1951, and worked at St. Francis Hospital. She lived at Centennial Towers before moving to Lakeview Care Center in August of 1995.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Catholic Daughters, Eagles Auxiliary and played in the Senior Citizens Band before entering Lakeview.
She enjoyed music, dancing and bingo.
Survivors include one son, Don Wernke of Grand Island; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, Hildred and Richard; two sons, LeRoy and Harold; six brothers; and four sisters."

Carol C Sypherd, 85, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at his home in Paonia, Colorado.
He was born on Aug 3, 1915, on a homestead near Flagler to
Oliver J and Cora (Sanders) Sypherd. The Family moved to Hastings Nebraska,
in 1918, where Mr. Sypherd spent his childhood.
He married Jessie Elfers on May 4, 1935. She died in 1953.
Carol and his daughter,Evelyn, moved to Denver in 1956.
Prior to his retirement, Carol was employed at the Rocky Flats plant as a tool and die maker for 20 years.
In 1959, Carol married Maureen A. Williams in Denver, Colo. Carol and Maureen lived in the Denver area until his retirement in 1976when they moved to Paonia. Maureen preceded Carol in death in1987.
A brief marriage to Barbara Endsley of Hotchkiss ended in divorce.
Carol is survived by his beloved daughter, Evelyn Sypherd, of Colorado Springs, who was so grateful to share her father's life.
In addition to both of his parents and two of his wives, Carol as also preceded in death by two sisters: Wanda and Ruth; and four brothers: Harvey, Dewey, Richard, and Leon.
He was a member of the Paonia Church of Christ, the Rocky Flats Homesteaders, and Metro Denver Steelwork Oldtimers.
Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Carol's life were officiated by Pastor Don Carney on Monday, April 23, at 11a.m. at the Paonia Church of Christ.
Interment followed the service in the Cedar Hill Cemetery at Paonia.

Sidney, Nebraska, October 11, 1938 "Sheriff W. W. Schulz believes the arrest of
seven persons, six at Concordia, Kansas, and one here, cleared up a series of farm home
robberies in Kansas, western Nebraska and northeastern Colorado.
Those arrested gave their names as James Sypherd, 54, Charles Sypherd, 39,
Richard Cypherd, 33. Harvey Sypherd, 30, Don Sypherd, 18, Jack Sypherd, 14,
and Marion Tetters. 18. All except Harvey Sypherd were arrested at Concordia.
Sheriff Schulz said the Sypherds posed as mattress makers to gain entrance into
farm homes. He said officers recovered a large amount of loot."

1938 " Freedom was short lived for Harvey Sypherd, who broke jail here to become
the first of Sheriff Harr's prisoners to escape in 14 years.
Officers recaptured Sypherd at the home of his sister, Mrs. Norris Frisch,
near Glenvil. He was awaiting trial on a statutory charge. "

He's out of prison in 1942, born October 11, 1896 in Gage County, Nebraska "travels in State of Wyoming." His reference is Cora A. Weaver of Holstein, Nebraska.
In 1940 Hastings, Leon is 28, married to Elsie 27, and has Bonnie 7.
Leon E. Sypherd 1911-1980 is buried in Jefferson County, Colorado # 172622916, with Laura K. 1916-1996.
JOHN
Rose Zella Boeding, 96, of Seneca, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.
She was born on May 3, 1916 in Humbolt, NE, the daughter of John Frederick and Ruby E. Sypherd Luginbill. Rose Zella married Norbert Nub Boeding on August 7, 1940 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. He died on September 14, 1994. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Kay; She is survived by a son, Joe (Darlene) Boeding of Topeka; seven daughters, Karen (Danny) Henry of Seneca, Judy (Vern) Hutfles of Onaga, Paula (Eldon) Fleury of Seneca, Donna( Frank) Maskil of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Pat (Danny) Deters of Corning, Joanie (Rick) Clelland of Topeka, and Marilyn (Tom) Nolte of Centralia; 23 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eva Krotzinger, of Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Saturday, July 14th, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Eva I. Krotzinger, 84, of Seneca, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She was born on April 9, 1928 in Seneca, the daughter of John Frederick and Ruby E. Sypherd Luginbill. She graduated from Seneca Public High School in 1946. As a young girl she worked for a family for 5 cents a day plus half a gallon of skim milk. After high school graduation she went to work for Judge Slocum.
On June 8, 1947 Eva married Jacob C. Krotzinger, whom she met when both were attending the wedding of a friend. The couple started the first garbage collection route in Seneca. In 1970, when Eva's children were grown, she started a thriving business out of her home, selling wedding invitations, supplies and gifts, and continued to do so until 1995.
Eva was a generous and caring individual who enjoyed meeting and helping people. She and her husband delivered cookie and candy plates to home-bound people during the holidays, amounting to more than 300 plates in their final year of this community service.
Eva was a member of the United Church of Christ, VFW Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star, all in Seneca. She loved to play cards and to bake for her family. She enjoyed fishing, and giving to her community whenever she had a chance. Family was very important to Eva and she relished time spent with family.
She is survived by her son James and his wife Cindy of Seneca; three daughters, Marcia Krotzinger of Seneca, Carol Niehues of Sabetha, and Diane and her husband Max Hermesch of Sabetha; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Eva considered her longtime neighbors her extended family, especially Don and Mary Doris Strathman and their children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob on April 17, 1994; her sons, Lyle on August 31, 1962 and Charles R. "Charlie" on August 18, 2008; her son-in-law Mike Niehues on July 9, 2007; brothers, William, Harold, Fritz, George, Allen and Lyle Luginbill; and sisters, Lily Claas and Rose Zella Boeding.
Funeral service will be held at 10 AM Monday, July 23, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, with a visitation from 6 to 7 PM on Sunday, July 22, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Seneca City Cemetery.
