William H. and Mary (Carr) Walker, sister Nellie (Walker) Hunter, 6 South 48 West



In 1856 Marion County, Iowa, Elizabeth Carr is 36, Margaret 17, Elizabeth 16, James 14, Liza 12, Ingebay 10, Harvey 8, Mary 6, and Andrew 5.

In 1860 Elizabeth is 42, Sarah E. 20, Louisa 17, Ingabee 15, Harvey 12, Mary 10, and Andrew 8.

William Walker enlisted in Company A, Iowa 6th Infantry Regiment on 17 Jul 1861. Mustered out on 02 Oct 1861 at Jefferson City, Missouri.

William and Mary married October 24, 1867 in Marion County, Iowa.

In 1870 Marion County, William is 29, Mary 21, Alma 1 born in Illinois, and Elmer two months born in Iowa.

In 1880 Marion County, William is 39, a blacksmith, with Mary 31, Alma 12, all born in Illinois, Elmer 11 in Iowa, Nellie 9, Fred 7, Louise 6, and Birdie 4 born in Illinois, Rosa 1 and two-month-old daughter born in Iowa.

In 1885 Pella, Iowa, Alma Walker is 17, born in Illinois, living with Elizabeth Carr, 68 born in Kentucky.

Lena Walker was born in Saline County, Kansas in June 1892.
In 1900 Marion County, Iowa, W.H. Walker is a blacksmith, born July 1840, married 32 years to Mary born April 1850, have Oliver March 1870, Nellie October 1871, and W. F. September 1872 born in Illinois.
Nellie married Charles Hunter.
Walter July 1881 and Leroy May 1885 were born in Iowa, and Harland January 1891 and Lena June 1892 in Kansas. Mary's mother Elizabeth Carr born October 1818 in Kentucky is with them.

Dennis Long, son of H.V. Long and Mary Anderson, married Lena Walker on March 18, 1910 in Albia Iowa.
In 1910 Kit Carson County W. H., Mary and Harland C. are farming, with Dennis and Lena Long living with them.

William H. Walker claimed two quarters in sections 3 and 10, 6S 49W in 1914.

Nellie Walker claimed two quarters in section 3, 6S 49W in 1914.

In 1920 Denver, William H. Walker is 79, Mary 69, Alma 51 is a seamstress, Leroy 55 a piano finisher, and Harlon C. 29 a band musician.
In 1930 Denver, Mary is widowed, with Alma 61, Elmer 60 and Leroy 44.
They're next to Dennis Long's family.

In 1940 Denver, Mary A. Walker is widowed, 91, son Elmer 68, daughter Alma 70, daughter Louise W. Kelm 65 widowed, son Leroy F. 54.

Harlan Carr Walker was born January 8, 1891 at Beloit Kansas, working for Alexander Film Company in Colorado Springs.
He registered for WWII with Mary Walker of 141 West Irvington Place (same address as Ingaby Carr Williams in 1922) in Denver as his reference.
Harlan died March 6, 1985 - having enlisted May 1917 and released April 1919.

Mary's brother Harvey Carr 1847-1933 is buried in Marion County, Iowa # 62323206.
