Montgomery County Indiana.

Benajah Cary Thompson died September 16, 1864,
aged 41, buried in Montgomery County, Indiana # 50167231.
In 1870 Montgomery County, Elizabeth is 45, living alone.
Next household is David Thompson 25, "Theodore" 22,
William 19, Alexander 17, James 14, and B.K. 10, all sons born in in Indiana, farming.
In 1880 Bourbon County, Kansas, Benajah is 17, with brother Willis 29 and his wife Luretta 26, daughter Garnett one month old. Their mother Elizabeth Thompson 53 born in Ohio, is with them, single.

Old Mrs. Thompson (Elizabeth) of Washington Township, died last Saturday and was buried Monday. Six sons attended the funeral.

In 1900 Jewell County, Kansas, Benejah is farming, born June 1862 in Indiana, married 12 years to Ellen S. Dec 1871 Indiana. She's had three kids, two living.
Bertha M. Dec 1889 and Daniel M. Nov 1899 both born in Kansas.
In 1905 Jewell County, Benegah is 43, Ellen 33, Bertha 15, and Morris 5.
All four are still in Jewell County in 1910.
Benajah claimed a quarter in 23, 6 South, 48W in 1918.
In 1920 Benejah and Ellen are living on Rock Island street in Vona, and he's a laborer on the railroad.
Benejah and Ellen are alone in 1930 Kit Carson County.

"Benajah Cary Thompson was born June 9th, 1862
at Crawfordsville, Ind., and departed this life at his home in Vona,Colo.,
September 12th, 1937, age 75 years, 3 months and 3 days. He came to Mankato, Jewell County,
Kansas, in 1876, settling on a farm where in continued to reside until coming to
Kit Carson County, Colorado in 1913, taking a homestead, where he lived until about three
years ago,when he moved with his wife to Vona, where he resided until passing away.
He was married to Ellen Johnson, April 26th, 1887, and to this union three children were born,one dying in infancy.Mr.Thompson was well and favorably known in the Vona community,where he had resided for 20 years. He was a kind and indulgent husband and father,honorable and just in his dealings with others.He leaves to mourn his departure,his wife Ellen Thompson,his son Maurice Thompsom and daughter Mrs. Bertha Sweet,14 grandchildren and three
great grandchildren,a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
He united with the Baptist Church at Mankato, Kan. in 1888 and practiced the Golden Rule through life. Mr. Thompson had been afflicted with Arterio Sclerosis for several years
and had been practically an invalid for two years. September 4th he had a cerebral hemorrhage,
commonly known as a stroke, from which he never rallied.
Everything that medical science could accomplish was done but without avail.
He passed away peacefully September 12th, as above stated.
The funeral was held at the Vona Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14th.

A quartet composed of Mrs. Amelia Howell, Mrs Emmitt Cary, Ray Deakin and Prof. Sherman sang
"Jesus,Lover of my Soul", "Some Day the Silver Cords Will Break" and "Rock of Ages".
The body bearers were: N.P. Iverson, Glenn Howell, Horace Boger, Fred Fuhlendorf, Fred J. Adams.
Penney Bros. of Burlington,undertakers in charge. Interment in Vona Cemetery.

In 1910 John Brownwood is in Yuma County, Kirk precinct, 11 born in New Jersy, with John C. 35 and Nellie J. 35, born in Holladn. Cornelius is 13, Nicholas 9 born n New Jersey, and Andrew 1 in South Dakoata.
Ethelyn Brookshier married John J. Brownwood in April 1918 in Kit Carson County.
Ethelyn Brownwood 1901-1918 is buried in Kirk # 67354317, "Wife of John J. Brownwood"
Alice Marie Berry married John J. Brownwood on October 18, 1922, recorded in Prowers County.
John C. Brownwood moved to California.

Daniel Thompson and Fanny Brookshire, both of Vona, married there December 18, 1918, witnesses Ray Brookshier and Merle Brookshier
Ellen Margaret Thompson was born November 29, 1919 at Vona to Daniel M. Thompson and Fannie K. Brookshier, as Roers in 1952, and as Ingram in 1966. She died August 27, 1997.
In 1920 Daniel M/ Thompson is farming in Yuma County, Joes precinct, 20, with Fannie K. 19 born in Oklahoma. Ellen is two months old.
On the same page are James and Nellie Sweet.
In 1930 Cheyenne Wyoming, Daniel is a railroad freight haulder, 30, with Fannie C. 29, Ellen M 10, Luella M. 8, adn Myrtle I. 5 were born in Colorado, Hazel A. 2 in California.
Daniel M. Thompson 1899-1979 is buried in Klamath County, Oregon # 28294169,
with Fanny C. 1900-1953 # 28294185.
"Ellen Ingram, 77, Malin, died Aug. 27, 1997, in Malin.
She was born to Daniel and Fanny (Brookshire) Thompson in Vona, Colorado. She grew up in Vona and married Jimmie Rogers there in 1934.
In 1938, the couple moved to Malin where she worked in several occupations including potato grader, restaurants, and babysitting. She lost her husband, Jimmie, to an automobile accident in 1963.
She later married Dennis Ingram in Reno, Nev. in 1965.
Among her other interests were spending time with her family, crocheting, gradening and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis, Malin; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Rogers, Merrill, Paul and Jan Rogers, Malin, David and Pam Rogers, Stockton, Calif., and Richard and Sharon Rogers, Redding, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Butler, Tulelake, Betty Mitchell, Malin, Barbara and Walt Leeuwenburgh, Central Point, Donna and Stan Harrison, Hayfork, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Dena Rogers, Malin; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Thelma Thompson, Denver, Colo.; sisters, Leuella Bonham, Newell, Juanita Kent, Portland; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-gandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother and two sons, Jimmie and Butch.
Myrtle Ilene Thompson was born January 1, 1925 at Vona, and died September 1980 as Oliver.
She's buried in Klamath County # 28382677. Her surviving brothers were Danny Ray Thompson of BUrlington Colorado, Marvin of Aurora, Colorado, sisters Ellen Ingram of Malin, Oregon, Leulla Bonham of Newell, California and Juanita Kent of Eugene, Oregon. Sister Hazel preceded her.
