ALVA
Alva, per one tree, born 1906 in Phillips County, married Dessa Bartlett, died July 30, 1990 in Bakersfield, California.
"On January 29, 2008, Dessa Mae McClure-Hanon quietly passed away.
Born on May 2, 1912, on the cold Alberta, Canada plains, Dessa was
blessed to be a member of a close and loving family. As a farm family,
they struggled and worked hard but always had the enjoyment and
comfort of each other.
Dessa was the last of the family to pass,
preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose Bartlett; and
her siblings, Ernest, Lynn and Orin Bartlett, Vyla Jarvis, and
Hazel Bruner.
Dessa met her husband, Alva McClure, in Cut Bank, Montana while
working as a waitress. Al and Dessa were married on
August 26, 1939 and were together until Al's death nearly
51 years later. Al was a welder and his pursuit of work took
them across the west to many cities. Their travels ended in
Bakersfield where Al found plentiful work in the oil fields.
They settled down and their family grew when their sons,
Bruce and Thomas, were born in 1946 and 1951. Bruce and Tom
were the love and joy of her life.
In 1997, at age 85, seven years after Al's death,
Dessa married Harry Hanon. Dessa and Harry shared seven
loving years as best friends and constant companions until
Harry's death. Dessa is survived by her son and wife,
Bruce and Nancy McClure; by her son and wife, Thomas and
Sherry McClure; granddaughters, Jessica Gatlin, Colleen
and Lauren McClure; and her great-grandson,
Steven Trevino. Dessa is also survived by her husband
Harry's sons, Kent, Jeri, Lyle, and Phil Hanon."

"Carol Berry Clark, 80, of Medford, Ore. passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at her home. Carol was born February 16, 1934 in Columbus, Mont. to David and Ethel Berry. The family moved to Merlin, where she spent her childhood. She attended GPHS and worked in banking for 17 years. In 1970 she married Edward Clark and they moved to Thorne Bay, Alaska where they lived for 40 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Alaskan life.
Survivors include her children, Sharon Austin-Johnston of Medford, Ore., Kenneth Austin of Whidbey, Island, Wash., and Scott Meriweather of Juneau, Alaska; two brothers, David Berry (Maurene) of Coos Bay and Richard Berry (Celia) of Grants Pass; two sisters, Sadie Weast of Central Point and Linda Daniels (Cliff) of Rogue River. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tim Johnston (Tessa) of Central Point, David Johnston of Belgrade, Mont., and Amy Austin Hay (John) of Portland, Ore.; and five great-grandchildren, Eric, Conner, Kaden, Brooke, and Alex; plus many nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her parents; and one brother, Alvin."
"A chapel memorial service for Zella 'Maurene' Berry, 83, of Coos Bay will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17 at the Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson Ave., in Coos Bay with pastor Don Berney of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship officiating. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.
Maurene was born April 11, 1933, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Elbert Otis Estes and Nancy Ann Bailey. She passed away Jan. 7, 2017, at her residence in Coos Bay.
Maurene married her husband of 65 years, David Berry in Reno, Nev., in 1951. Together they had resided in Coos Bay since that same year. They had three children, David, Rebecca and Stanley. Maurene ran the La Berry Kennels for many years. She was a homemaker and an amazing cook. She loved to read, crochet, camp and most of all spend time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, David Berry of Coos Bay; son, David Berry of Coos Bay; daughter, Rebecca Berry of Hahira, Ga.; granddaughter, Carrie Creamer of Hahira; grandson, Corey Mermin of Hahira; granddaughters, Laura Densmore of Portland, and Jen Berry of Coos Bay; and great-grandsons, Samuel and Sterling Densmore of Portland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Stanley.

In 1940 Kit Carson County, M.L. Phillips is a carpenter, 65, born in Pennsylvania, Lucy 61. They were in Cheyenne County, Kansas in 1935.
Milton Lee Phillips, son of William Henry and Rhonda Ann Phillips was born at Carverton, Pennsylvania, July 10, 1875 and passed away at his home in Burlington, Colorado on November 26, 1943.
He moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas with his parents and sisters in 1879, where his parents homesteaded a farm six miles north of Phillipsburg and where he grew to young manhood. He knew the trials and privations as well as the delights and pleasures of those early pioneer days.
He had four sisters, one, Mrs. Elizabeth Woofter, preceded him in death.
On May 14, 1902 he was united in marriage to Lucy Ellen McClure and to this union three sons were born; Ansen of Burlington, Colorado; Vernon of Holy, Colorado, and Harold, who died on September 26, 1934.
In 1907 he, with his family moved to McDonald, Kansas where he lived on a farm until 1940 when he moved to Burlington, Colorado and again engaged in farming.
In early life he accepted Jesus, who alone can save him, as his Savior. He found true pleasure in serving others and was always willing and eager to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends in their times of need.
He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, two sons, three grandsons and three sisters; Mrs. Mary Whitten, Phillipsburg, Kansas; Mrs. Mattie Kinsey, Long Beach, California; Miss Lottie Phillips, Bakersfield, California, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Federated Church, Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. J. S. Coppoc. The remains were laid beside his son in the McDonald cemetery.

Lucy Ellen McClure, daughter of Stephen and Matilda Watkins McClure, was born May 14, 1878 in Bloomfield, Iowa and passed away January 29, 1953 at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 15 days. As a young girl she accepted Christ as her Savior and United with the Church of God at Bloomfield.
In 1900 she moved with her parents to Phillipsburg, Kansas where she met and married Milton Phillips on May 14, 1902. To this union were born three sons. In 1907 they moved to a farm northwest of McDonald, Kansas where they made their home until 1940, when they moved to Burlington, Colorado. Mr. Phillips and one son, Harold, preceded her in death. Her husband in 1943 at Burlington and the son in 1934 at McDonald.
Because of ill health she was moved from her home in Burlington to Holly, Colorado the latter part of December. But with all medical help and loving hands could do she was called to rest. She leaves to mourn her passing two sons; Ansen L. Phillips of Indianola, Nebraska and Vernon Phillips of Holly, Colorado. Both were at her bed side when she passed away. She also leaves three grandsons; Donald, Harold and Lawrence Phillips of Holly, Colorado and other relatives and friends.
The Memorial services were held at the Baptist Church, Holly, Colorado two o'clock Saturday afternoon Jan. 31, 1953 the Rev. Wm. Pfau with Morich & Son Mortuary in charge and at the Grace Cemetery, McDonald, Kansas three o'clock Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, 1953 by the Rev. Laverne Beene of the McDonald Federated Church, with the Trickett Mortuary of Bird City, Kans. in charge.
The body was borne to its final rest by the following friends, Harold Johnson, Leonard Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Wilbur Johnson, Lester Powell and Glen Reneau.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral at McDonald were Mr. and Mrs. Ansen L. Phillips, Indianola, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Phillips and sons, Holly, Colo.; Mrs. Marvin Brunt, and Mr. Marvin Haines, Benkelman, Nebr.; Mrs. Lydia Winslow and son, Burlington, Colo., and Mrs. Pat Cobb and Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Edwards, Atwood, Kansas.
