Boulder County Biographies: Fullen
Hiram Fullen had been born in Lebanon, Va., in 1839 and was an 1859er in Colorado. After working in Black Hawk; the elder Fullen moved to Gold Hill in 1869. There he was instrumental in the erection of a gold mill, discovered the American Mine, one of the best in the county; and owned or part-owned at various times the White Rock, which was the second mining claim patented in the county, the Ingram and other mines. Before Colorado became a state, that Hiram Fullen was justice of the peace in Gold Hill.
On Nov. 13, 1888, he married Miss Eliza J. Allen. Mrs. Fullen had been born in Cornwall, England, and was brought to Canada in 1879 and to Colorado in 1883 with her family.
Mr. and Mrs. Fullen moved in 1893 from Gold Hill
and Salina areas to a farm that Mr. Fullen had purchased near Niwot in
1900. Hiram Fullen Jr. was born in Boulder on Sept. 7 following
his father's death on April 5, 1900. He was one of three sons and
a daughter born to the Fullen's.
