Woody and Ena Schrotberger

A brief bio for Woody and Ena Schrotberger
Woodrow Wilson (Woody) Schrotberger was born January 17, 1913 at Elwood Nebraska.
He married Ena Maxine Junker August 7, 1940 at Alma Nebraska. They had 6 children, daughters Dorothy, Kathaleen, and Mary, and sons Woodrow L aka Buck, Marvin aka Skip, and Donald.
Ena was born September 24, 1916 in Haigler Nebraska. She graduated from high school in Indianola, Nebraska in 1935, attended Kerney State Teachers College, then taught in Red Willow one room rural schools for 4 1/2 years.
Woody graduated from Paxton high school and worked from 1932 to 1940 in Paxton, Nebraska. At the time of his marriage he was employed by Sliger Motor Company in McCook.
After they were married, they moved to McCook. In 1944 they moved to Grant Nebraska. In 1952 they moved to Sterling Colorado. In 1957 they moved to Rifle.
Woody enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Methodist Church, the Rifle Men's Golf Club, and was a charter member of the Rifle Elks Lodge 2195.
Ena worked in the grocery industry for 35 years starting at Safeway for 12 years and then at the Rifle Food Market when ownership changed. She was an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed watching all sports.
She was a member of the Rifle Elkettes for many years and was an honored Elkette of the year. She was a member of the Rifle Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, crocheting, quilting, reading, gambling, cruising, and collecting hummingbird figurines.
At the time of his passing, Woody was a supervisor for heavy equipment. He passed away June 15, 1978 at Clagett Memorial of an apparent heart attack.
Ena passed away December 30, 2006 in Greeley. She spent many of her final years at the Rifle Senior Center. She and Woody are buried at Rose Hill.
