Norman Lee Herwick, age 88, died August 5, 2013, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Grand Junction, CO. He was born November 29, 1924, in Grand Valley (now Parachute) to Oren and Katherine Slaymaker Herwick.
He graduated from the Grand Valley High School in 1942. Norman, or Bud as he was known, was independent, hard-working, and self-reliant.

Hazel Irene Parker was born October 11, 1929 in Akron, Colorado to Versil and Elsie Culver Parker. When she was a young child the family moved to a dryer climate at Roan Creek.
During the early years of their marriage Hazel was a homemaker, often being sole care for home and family while her husband was away on construction projects.
The family also lived in Paonia, Montrose, and Rifle before moving to Silt Mesa about 1981
With her children grown, Hazel went to work for a Rifle title company, finally retiring as a title examiner from Stewart Title, Aspen, Colorado in 2000.
Bud and Hazel celebrated over 64 years together before she died from complications of diabetes February 17, 2011. She spent her last few years at the Colorado State Veterans Home in Rifle.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Orien Etcheverry as well as Hazel.
They are survived by two sons, Jim of Gunnison, and Larry (Kathy); granddaughters, Misty (Rob) Henson; Kristi (Tim) Davis; grandsons, Kelly (Karie) Herwick; Andy (Cassie) Herwick, and seven great-grandchildren.
Bud was also survived by his sisters, Zelda Montoya and Carol McManus; four nieces, one nephew, and special family friends, Susan and Harvey Armstrong.
