Thirty-three more casualties among Colorado soldiers are recorded in the lists made public by the War Department Dec. 19. Among the dead of wounds received in action is Robert Young - Rodney, while among the dead of disease are Clyde C. Harishorn - Pueblo; and Adam Schleiger - Berthod. Four (five) missing in action are James E. Reilley - Denver; Paul L. Stewart - Ft. Collins; Arthur Johnson - Silt; James S. Gimer - Kirk; and Lloyd C. House - Craig. .......... (rest not transcribed)
Notes:
James S. Gimer is listed on the Kirk Cemetery military memorial monument. He is credited to Kirk in the "Roster of Men and Women Who Served in the World War from Colorado, 1917-18" published by Adjutant General, Colorado National Guard, 1941.
According to his June 5, 1917, WWI draft registration, James S. Gimer, born Sept. 1, 1893, was then age 24, single, and was farming in the Stratton community. The Kit Carson County draft registrar said he was medium height, medium build, had blue eyes and light hair.
James may have been born in 1892. The Orlando, Oklahoma 1900 US Census for the George and Lilly May Gimer family shows James S., born Sept 1892, age 7.
