Sergeant Frank Colpitts, whose home is at Kirk, was reported as killed in action on November 28 in Germany.

SGT. FRANK COLPITTS KILLED IN ACTION

A telegram was received by Julius O. Colpitts of Kirk, Friday concerning his son, Sergeant Frank W. Colpitts, who was previously reported missing in action. The telegram read "The secretary of State asks that I assure you of his deepest sympathy in the loss of your son, Sergeant Frank W. Colpitts, who was previously reported missing in action. Report now received states he was killed in action on the twenty-eight day of November in Germany. Confirming letter follows."

Mr. Colpitts, only surviving relative of Sergeant Colpitts, resides on a farm five miles east and one north of Joes.


Kirk News -Yuma Pioneer January 11, 1945

J.O. Colpitts received a telegram, Friday of last week, stating that his son, Frank Colpitts, was killed November 28. He had only recently returned to the western front after recovering from a wound he suffered some time ago. Frank was born and reared in this community and is the fourth young man to lose his life in this conflict from this community. The others were Phillip Doddridge, Bob Clark and Emmett Wise.
