Aaron P. March



In 1850 Rockingham County, New Hampshire, Benjamin March is 35, a blacksmith, Rhoda 34, Joseph 14, Charles 13, Aaron 12, Francis 10, Sophia 6, and Abby 2.

In 1860 Ogle County, Illinois, B.F. March is farming, 47, Rhoda 47, Joseph 24, Chas 22, Aaron 21, Frank 20, Sophia 16, and Abby 13.

This Aaron was born in New Hampshire about 1838, enlisted in 1862, discharged in 1865. He contracted chronic rheumatism in 1893 in Denver, and was at the Danville, Illinois in 1903, discharged in 1910. He was widoweed, a salesman in Bingham, Michigan, with a sister Deaw F. Griswold of Nortiville, Michigan.

He might be the Aaron March in 1880 Mills County, Iowa, selling agricultural implements, 42, born in Illinois, with wife Mattie 35, Pennsylvania.

Abbie L. (March) Griswold 1852-1918 is buried in Northville, Michigan # 37391302. "Raised in Ogle County, Illinois where she was married and divorced by 1880. Abbie married her second husband, Dean Griswold, in the 1880's. She died of chronic Bright's disease and was buried June 21, 1918 at Rural Hill Cemetery. "


Their father Benjamin died in 1885 # 39897720, Rhoda 1804-1899 # 39897721, both buried in Ogle County, Illinois.

Aaron proved up a quarter in 13, 2N 48W Yuma County, Colorado, in 1890, so he was one of the earlies settlers. With a five-year residency requirement, Aaron woul dhave arrived in 1885.

He had filed for a timber claim in 3N 48W, but that wasn't completed.

In 1889, Aaron filed for an invalid pension for service in the 92nd Illinois Infantry, company K. from Colorado.

Aaron P. March was a member of the 1895 Yuma G.A.R. Post.
Aaron was admitted to Sawtelle National Home in 1903, discharged 1910, re-adamitted 1911, discharged May 1912. The last entry is June 25, 1915 "DPd:"

September 1911 Leavenworth Times includes items from Sawtelle "Among the new members admitted to the Home last week were, Aaron March, K, 92d Illinois Infantry,"
California Death Index has Aaron, born about 1842, dying December 7, 1915 in Napa County.

The stone in Yountville Veterans Cemetery, Napa County, California, has Aaron March - Co K, 92nd Ill Infantry, dying 1915 # 93832251.

Brother Joseph Proctor March 1835-1920 is buried in Yolo County, California # 88248278.
