Lucy cash-claimed a quarter in section 25, 2N 48W in 1891. That was about two miles east of Yuma.

In February 1900 Lucy was among guests at W.R. Field's birthday.

June 1902 Yuma "Mrs. Lucy Briggs was quite sick Monday night and Tuesday and in her dazed condition Tuesday night fell against the stove and considerably disfigured her face."

May 1902 " Ira Edwards sold the cattle belonging to himself and sister, Mrs. Briggs, to James Jacobson Monday. Six cows and five yearlings at $23 per head."

November 1903 "Ira Edwards received a letter Wednesday from the asylum stating that his sister, Mrs. Briggs, was getting along as well as may be expected with her fractured hip which was caused by a fall about five weeks ago."

January 1, 1904 "Ira Edwards received word last Saturday of the death of his sister, Aunt Lucy Briggs. She was buried at Pueblo."

Ira was the Yuma County Surveyer in 1904.


December 1906 "Lester Edwards is expected here here for a visit with his father, Ira Edwards."
"The half section north, belnging to Ira Edwards, sold this week to an eastern Nebraska farmer."

February 1907 "Ira Edwards, who has been suffering for some time with Brights disease, left Thursday evening for an eastern hospital where it is to be hoped he may be restored to health."

Ira must have inherited Lucy's land.


May 17, 1907 "Ira Edwards, who has been suffering for some time with a complication of diseases, died on Wednesday morning while in Wray seeking medical aid. Mr. Edwards was a native of New York and from there he moved to Fremont, Nebraska.
In 1885 he moved to Yuma where he has resided ever since. He has acted as county surveyor of Yuma county for several years and has done much in the interests of the county and citizens. He leaves two sons and two daughters, who have the sympathy of the citizens of the entire county in this their sad bereavement. Funeral services will be held here Saturday in the Methodist cburch of which he has been an active member."

"Mrs. Lucy M. Park, a former resident of Scribner, died Saturday noon at the home of her son, Rex, in Scottsbluff, where she has been seriously ill for two months. Funeral services were held Monday in Scottsbluff, and burial was made at Yuma, Colorado. Mrs. Park, as Lucy M. Edwards, was born August 26, 1814, in Utlca, N. Y., and came to Nebraska with her parents when she was 10 years old, the family locating in Fremont. She is survived by the following children: Rex of Scottsbluff, Mrs. Gordon Ruffner, Etta and Margaret, all of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Gilbert Otteman of Hooper. One sister, Mrs. Florence Wearne of Redlands, Calif., and one brother, Lester Edwards of Mentone, Calif., also survive."
