In 1870 Henderson County, Illinois, William Weaver is farming, 49, with Ann 48 both born in New YOrk. James is 12, Samuel 10, and Thomas 6, all three born in Illinois.

with Samuel 20 and Thomas 16 both born in Illinois, all farming.

Albert Lawrence and Julia A. Waters, 19, married in Greeley on June 7, 1900.
Albert and Julia are in Los Angeles in 1930, with Edgar 22, his wife Josephine A. 23, and Laurie L.1.
Edgar A. Lawrence, 21, married Josephine Lower on Dec 7, 1926 in Greeley.

The Yuma Museum and the Yuma Pioneer published a great story written by Sam of his homesteading days.
In 1900 Cope precinct, Arapahoe County, Colorado, Samuel is a farm laborer, born March 1860 in Illinois, with Caroline A. born May 1865 in Sweden. All six of her kids are still living.
The census is blurred, and it doesn't clearly show Clarke, who would have been 13. Clara M. is 9, Myrtle M. is 7, Grace I. 4, Sadie M. 2, and a nine-month-old
Clarke 13 and Margaret Weaver might have been living with the Fielding and Elizabeth Amy houme in Cope.
Wray, March 1909 "Thomas G. Weaver, a brother of Sam Weaver of Kirk precinct,
was in this city Tuesday. Mr. Weaver is in the restaurant business at Idaho Springs,
but still owns land in Yuma county. He is thinking of returning to eastern Colorado
as the outlook for this country is of no small consequence."
In 1910 Kirk precinct, Samuel is 50, Caroline 44, Clara M. 19, Myrtle M. 17, Grace I. 14, Sadie M. 12, Annie M. 10, and John M. 2.
April 1910 Kirk items "S. M. Weaver and daughter Clara and Elmer Chapman
departed for Wray Sunday. S. M. Weaver goes to attend the county commissioners
meeting and Miss Clara to continue her school work at that place."
1911 Wray "Albert Lawrence of Greeley, who has been visiting his brother-in-law,
S. M. Weaver and family a couple of days this week, left today for Yuma and will visit
relatives northwest of there a short time before returning home."
1913 Kirk items "S. M Weaver, wife and son, John, visited at Edd Kline's Sunday."
In 1920 Samuel and Caroline are farming in Kirk, with Sadie M. 22, Annie M. 20, and John 12.
Caroline said she was born in Sweden, immigrating in 1875, naturalized in 1893.
April 1930 "S.M. Weaver and daughter, Anna, with Mrs. Ira Spurling, expect to drive to Fort Collins Friday. They expect to bring John and Leonard home with them for a vacation."
August 1935 "S. M. Weaver expects to leave soon for Palisade where he will spend some time with his daughters, Mrs. Sadie Rienear and Mrs. Anna Campbell, of Debeque."
Samuel is buried in Kirk 1860-1956 # 67354785,
with Caroline A. 1865-1928 # 67354780.
January 19, 1928 Joes items "Mrs. S. M. Weaver died at her home near here last Friday morning. The funeral
was held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Weaver's death had been
expected for some time, but it is still a sad loss to the community since the Weavers are among the oldest and best known settlers
in this part of Colorado, having gone thru all hardships of early settlers
in the new country. Clark Weaver and family of Elizabeth, Colorado, Mrs. Todd and sons of Lawrence Kansas and Mrs. Alwin and children from Nebraska all came to attend their monther's funeral. Mrs. ALwin returned to her home early Monday morning. he others stayed for a longer visit with the family.
In 1940 Yuma County, Hugh J. Campbell is 45, born in Colorado, with Anna M. 40, livign with Samuel M. Weaver 80, widowed, born in Illinois.
GRACE
Grace I. Weaver, 25, of Kirk Colorado, daughter of Samuel Weaver and Caroline Lawrence,
married Edgar R. Todd, 34,
born at Wellsville, Kansas to Loren M. Todd and Lida A. Hines
- his second marriage - on November 12, 1919 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
1932 Lawrence, Kansas " Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Todd and children spent Sunday in Manhattan with Mr. Todd's sister, who is confined to the hospital."
1947 Ashland, Oregon "Mrs. Grace Todd and son, Ronald, of Lawrence, Kan., were Kuesta
recently of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Stagg of Eagle Point star route.
Their first visit to Oregon, the visitors made trips to Crater lake
and other points of interest in this vicinity. Mrs. Todd, an aunt of Mrs. Stagg,
had not seen her niece for 20 years. She also visited her nephew, Lester Alwine,
while here. "
Lawrence Kansas "Edgar R. Todd, 65, died last evening, March 8, 1952,
at the Santa Fe Hospital in Topeka, where he had been a patient several days.
He was a railroad section foreman for the Santa Fe until his retirement three years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Todd, of the home, 1208 North Y St.;
two sons, Eldon R. Todd, Denver, Colo., and Ronald L. Todd, of the home,
and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at the Rumsey Funeral Home,
Saturday at 2 p. m., with the Rev. H. Milton Sippel in charge.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery."

Clara and Henry B. Byrd married in Denver on April 1, 1911.
In 1920 Joes precinct, Clara is next to her parents, married to Henry B. Byrd, 37 born in Georgia. They have William H. 6, Elbert J. 3,and raymond H. eleven months.
In 1930 they're in Marshall County, Kansas,

July 1940 "Dan Taylor, 22, Manhattan, has confessed
lib part in the attempted burglary of
the Charles E. Diehl home early Monday,
and Raymond Byrd, 21, also of this city, is being hunted as the other assailant whom Diehl "took on" in the melee at his home at 1615 Leavenworth street."
September 1940 "Raymond Byrd, 21, Manhattan, pleaded guilty to first degree burglary and was sentenced to "the Kansas state industrialist reformatory at Hutchinson for a term of not less than 10 years and not more than 21 years under the indeterminate sentence law."
"T. E. Bender and Harvey Byrd pleaded guilty to charges of fourth degree forgery and each was sentenced to not more than five years in the Kansas penitentiary at Lansin"

"Raymond H. Byrd, 69, of 1616 Fair Lane,
died Aug. 6, 1988 at his residence.
Born in Joes, Colo., he had lived most
of his life in the Manhattan area.
Mr. Byrd was a retired mason. He was
preceded in death by his wife,
Peggy E. Byrd in 1980; a son, Dennis Byrd
in 1948; and a daughter, DeeAnn Byrd
in 1985. Survivors include a son,
Rodney R. Byrd of San Diego, Calif.;
three daughters, Lynn Holtman of Belvue,
Nancy Backman of Riley, and Norma
White of Manhattan; three brothers,
Elbert Byrd of Portland, Ore.,
and Harvey E. Byrd and Wayde B. Byrd,
both of Manhattan; his sister,
Norma Messersmith of Torrance, Calif.,
and seven grandchildren. "
Wayde Byrd, Sr., passed away on
December 29, 2013 at the age of 88.
He was born on July 2, 1925 in Joes, Colorado. His family moved to Manhattan, Kansas when he was 8 years old. He attended Manhattan schools.
He married Lillian Rogers on July 27, 1943. Wayde joined the Navy two weeks later and served for four years during WWII. Wayde was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Wayde was a brick mason/contractor and formed Byrd and Sons Masonry. Wayde’s brick mason skill helped build Manhattan. He and his son Wayde Jr. built the stone wall bordering the Bill Snyder Family Stadium. He passed on the skill to his grandson Jeff, who continues masonry work in the Topeka and Manhattan areas.
Wayde spent many mornings with his coffee shop buddies. No one dares to guess at all that was discussed there, but all the world’s problems probably always got solved. Nothing was sacred! He scratched many a lottery tickets and actually won big a couple of times. All the time at the coffee and Wayde always only spent 10 cents a cup.
Wayde spent his last Christmas in Overland Park, KS surrounded by his family. His generosity and love was felt by all. Wayde was an avid supporter of KSU football and lived to see the winning of a bowl game. He was forever a Bill Snyder and KSU team fan, and they provided him with many years of great entertainment. Every game began with an EMAW!
Wayde was preceded in death by his parents:
Henry and Clara Byrd; brothers:
Elbert Byrd, Harvey Byrd, and Raymond Byrd,
and also a sister in infancy; and his
daughter-in-law, Linda Byrd.
Survivors include his wife Lillian Byrd,
at their home in Manhattan; two daughters:
Sharon (Byrd) Wildeboor and her husband Bob
and Joan Dougherty and one son: Wayde Byrd, Jr.
Also surviving are his grandchildren: Shay and Anne Wildeboor and their son Kemper; Shanna Ziebell and her daughters Breanna and Brooklyn; Neil and Felice Dougherty and their children, Khotso Kellan and Sara, Tom and Carole Dougherty and Jeff and Angie Byrd. He is also survived by a sister: Norma Messersmith and her husband Phil; in-laws: Bob and Jose Rogers; two nieces: Nancy and her husband Chris Backman and Lynn and her husband Michael Holtman; one nephew: Rodney Byrd and many other beloved family members.
Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday January 3, 2014 at the Sunrise Cemetery on Stagg Hill Road in Manhattan.

Myrtle M. Weaver and Alvin Alwine married
in Los Angeles, California on June 23, 1915.
They're in Nemaha County, Nebraska,
in 1920, farming, Alvin 36 born in Kansas, Myrtle 27, and Elsie M. 1.
Alvin is a railroad laborer in 1930 Ashland, Oregon, 46, Myrtle M. 37, Elsie M. 11, Lester W. 7, and Grace L. 4.

In Cope precinct, Colorado in 1910, Hugh is
with parents Alexander 54 and Jessie 53. Allie A. is 18, Hugh 16, and Marion M. 11.

Mrs. Warren Flint, returned home Sunday taking her daughter and two children home with her."

1950 "John T. Weaver, acting postmaster of of Fruita post office since November,
has been nominated by President Truman to be postmaster."
1954 Joes items "Mr. and Mrs. Robert Benton and Mr. and Mrs. Walt Thompson called on Mr. Sam Weaver and daughter, ANna Campbell, at Paonia last week and report them as being fine. JOhn Weaver has been postmaster at Paonia for several years. The Fred Hagan family alos called on the Weavers recently."
