In 1900 Indianola, Red Willow County, Nebraska, George Short, born Feb 1860 in Indiana, is a merchant,
married 15 years to Mary E. born November 1860 in
New York. Genette E. June 1876, Georgie H. July 1878, Arthur Verne Oct 1890 and Archie R. June 1894 were all born in Nebraska.
Mary E. (Colvin) Short 1860-1903 is buried in Indianola # 11999523.
Finda Grave # 11999495 has a nice obituary "George W. Short was born at Royal
Center, Cass county, Indiana, February 26, 1860, died at his home in Indianola,
Nebraska, November 11, 1909, aged 40 years 8 months and 15 days.
In 1870 he moved with his parents to Wahoo, Nebraska, where they resided until
1879 when they moved to Indianola. Mr. Short was married in 1885 to Mary E. Colvin.
To this union were born five children, Mrs. Jeanette McNiel, Miss Georgia, Vern,
Raymond and Floyd, all of whom survive their parents.
Besides the children he leaves three brothers and two sisters,
W.H. Short, of Indianola; J.B. Short, of Los Angeles, California;
J.M. Short, of Watsonville, California; Mrs. F.C. Porter, of Wahoo, Nebraska;
and Mrs. W.W. Peckenpaugh, of Spokane, Washington.
After Mr. Short's arrival in Indianola in 1879 he was interested in a butcher
shop for about two years, after this he worked for V. Franklin who was then
conducting a general store on the same site where Mr. Short's store now stands
for some time. From this he went into the livery business quite extensively,
having the government contracts for a number of Star Routes that in those
early days radiated from this place. In this business he was not overly
successful and so started in a small confectionery store.
From this his business gradually grew passing from one change to another
till at the time of his death he carried the largest stock of merchandise
in the town, owned the large two-story building in which his store is
located besides various other enterprises.
He was a kind and indulgent father, an honest and attentive business man, and one whose loss will be most keenly felt by those who knew him. "
GEORGIA
In 1910 Red Willow County,
Georgia H. Short is 21, a saleswoman in a general store, with brothers Arthur V. 18, Archie, 15, and Edwin F. 8, all born in Nebraska.
Georgia Short married John Hagerman on August 12, 1918 in Mineral County, Colorado.
They divorced in 1919 in Rio Grande County, Colorado.
Georgia Vandervelde, 38, divorced, is in Long Beach California in 1930, with daughter Camille Hagerman 14 born in Colorado.
Georgia (Short) Hagerman 1888-1953 is buried in Glendale California # 85415458.
Lola Camille Hagerman was born July 24, 1915 in Wray, Colorado to John Hagerman and Georgia H. Short, name 1Simpson in 1945, as "Dyane" Douglas in 1989.
She married Charles R. Simpson in California on February 16, 1945.
Lola died February 11, 1989.
ARTHUR
In 1920, Arthur is 28, managing a picture show in Indianola,
Red Willow County, Nebraska. Bessie is 31, George R. 6, and Mary E. 2, all born in Nebraska.
Raymond William Short was born May 13, 1922 in Wray.
In 1930, A. Verne and Bess are living on Cedar Street in Wray.
Arthur is a clerk in a grocery store. George is 17, M. Elizabeth is 12, Raymond W. is 7,
and Barbara is 4.
In 1940 Wray, Arthur is managing a grocery store, 48, Bess 50, Raymond 18, and Beulah 14.
"In Santa Cruz, Calif, May S, 1960, Bess R. Short Survived by her husband,
Arthur V. Short of Santa Cruz, sons, Capt. Raymond Short of South Carolina,
George R. Short of Texas; daughters. Miss Barbara Short of Palo Alto, Calif,
Mrs. Mary E. Henderson of Denver, Colorado. 11 grandchildren.
Native of Nebraska, aged 71 years. Member of Rebekah Lodge No. 76 of Wray,
Colorado. Services will be conducted at Irvin M. Smith Son Funeral Chapel.
1050 Cayuga St. Tuesday, May 10, 1960 at 2 p. m. with Isabella Rebekah Lodge No. 17
officiating. Interment in Oakwood Memorial Park."
July 1968 "Arthur Short, 77, of 339 Seventh Avenue, was injured yesterday
when he was struck by an automobile driven by Rodney Dean, 28,
of 435 Oceanview Avenue. Dean told Highway Patrolmen the man stepped
out in front of him and he was unable to avoid the accident,
which happened on Seventh Avenue near Carmel Street. Patrolmen said Short may be
cited for failure to yield the right-of-way to an automobile by not being
in a crosswalk. Santa Cruz Ambulance Service took Short to Dominican Hospital
where he was treated and released."
November 20, 1972 Biloxi, Mississippi "Arthur Verne Short, 80, a resident of No. 5
Concord Place, Mississippi City, died Saturday at 10 p.m. at Miramar Village in
Pass Christian. Mr. Short, an apartment manager in California, was born Nov. 21, 1891,
in Indianola, Neb., and resided in Santa Cruz, California, prior to moving to Gulfport
three years ago. He was a Methodist. Mr. Short is survived by two sons,
Raymond W. Short, Gulfport, and George R. Short, Bay City, Tex.;
two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Henryson and Miss Barbara J. Short, Palo Alto. Cal.;
eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body will be sent from Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport to Irvln Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Santa Cruz, Cal., for services and interment in the Oakwood Cemetery."

Arthur V. Short. Survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Hendryson and Miss Barbara Short,
both of Palo Alto; two sons. George R. Short of Bay City, Texas and Raymond W. Short
of Gulfport Mississippi, grandfather of ten, great-grandfather of two. Native of
Nebraska. Aged 80 years. Graveside services will be conducted at Oakwood Memorial Park."
MARY
Mary is a graduate nurse in 1940 Denver - in Indianola Nebraska in 1935 - at the Colordo General and Psycopathic Hospital and nurses home.
Mary E. Hendryson 1917-2004 is buried in Santa Cruz # 48322574.
" Mary Elizabeth Hendryson passed this veil of tears on March 30, 2004.
Born in Indianola, Nebraska on May 14, 1917, Mary was raised in Wray, Colorado.
After high school, she attended the Children's Hospital School of Nursing in Denver,
Colorado. With her R.N. degree in hand, she worked in Dallas, Texas and Seattle,
Washington before joining the U.S. Army as a nurse.
Mary was stationed at Lettermen Hospital in San Francisco waiting to be shipped
over seas to Corrigedor when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
Space was needed for the injured soldiers, so patients at Lettermen were
transported to other facilities by troop train.
Mary assisted in this transport.
In 1943, Mary and I.E. Hendryson were married at the Presidio in
San Francisco before he was detailed to Guadalcanal in the Pacific theater.
He was injured during the fight for Guadalcanal and was returned to
Twenty Nine Palms for rehabilitation. After the war, the Hendryson's moved
back to Denver. Mary and Chief raised five children while in Denver.
In the early 1960s, Mary returned to college at the University of Denver
to finish a four-year bachelor's degree in anthropology. In 1969, Mary and
her youngest daughter moved to Palo Alto, California. Mary was hired as
a night nurse at O'Connor Hospital. After a number of years at O'Connor
she was appointed the Director of Nursing.
In 1977, Mary moved to Quincy, Illinois to be the Director of Nursing
at a small hospital. In 1987, she returned to California.
She moved to Fresno and was appointed the Director of Nursing at
Hope Manor Skilled Nursing Facility. She worked at Hope Manor until
her retirement in the mid 1990s.
Mary is survived by her older brother, George Short; her children,
Sue, Michael, John, Jane, and Mary Ann; her grandchildren, Wendy, Shane
and Victoria; and her great grandchild, Liam. She was a resilient and
determined woman with a wicked sense of humor and a quick smile.
She demanded the best of everyone she encountered. As her sister said of
her, "she is one of the good ones". No services will be held. May the angels sing her home."
BARBARA
One of the reasons that Apollo 13 safely returned was due to a Texhnical Note written in 1959 by Barbara J. Short entitled. Point Return Landings From the Moon to the Eartth
This gave the equations needed for trajectory and burn rates.
"Barbara Short, an early female design engineer who worked at Ames Research
on re-entry vehicles for space exploration at Ames Research in Mountain View for
NASA. She worked from the late 1950's through the early 1980's. At the time
she was on the list of Women's Who's Who. According to an ex-husband of Barbara's niece, Barbara
attended Free Flight parties.
A very sophisticated looking cone shaped model that Barbara Short designed.
It was used for re-entry vehicle velocity testing. Apparently it was shot by some kind
of high powered cannon to test what might be the best shapes to use for re-entry.

Barbara Jeanette Short, 76, born at Wray February 1, 1926, died in Fresno, California September 13, 2002.
She was an Aeronautical Engineer for NASA Ames Research Center for 35 years.
She is survived by her sister Mary Hendryson of Fresno, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be scheduled at a later date.
GEORGE
Ruth Ann Rumble, 33, married George R. Short, 26, on June 11, 1939 in Yuma County.
In 1940, George R. Short is in Lincoln, Nebraska,
no occupation, married to Ruth A. R. Short, 34, born in Iowa. a WPA supervisor. He was in Yuma County in 1935, Ruth in Brush, Colorado.
Ruth R. Short, born August 27, 1905 in Mt. Vernon Iowa to C. H. Rumble and Peal Upton, died in Houston October 23,. 1956, a teacher.
She was to be buried in Sweeney, Texas. # 45831500.
George Short, 92, of Austin, Texas passed away October 24, 2005. He was born December 15, 1913 in Grand Island, NE to Arthur Verne and Bess Robertson Short. He was a retired Chemical Engineer with Phillips/Conoco in Old Ocean and a member of the Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glendine Thompson Short. He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Cobb of Austin and Ruth Short of Palo Alto, CA; a son, Douglas Short of Austin; two step-sons, Mike Wade of Bay City and Pat Wade of Emporia, KS; three grandchildren, Glen Cobb of Houston, Stephen Cobb of Katy and Tammy Hann of Bay City; four step-grandchildren, Kathy McVey of Friendswood, Scott Martin of Houston, Kelly Wade of Emporia, KS, and Keith Wade of Wichita, KS; two great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City

Pearl Elisabeth Dodge was the daughter of James Manning Dodge and Abbie Louisa Upton Dodge. After her mother died when Pearl was five months old, and her father remarried and moved to Kansas, Pearl was brought up by her maternal grandparents, Luther Snow Upton and Phebe Elisabeth Nichols Upton. She married Clarence Henry Rumble on October 15, 1890, in Whiteside County, Illinois. They were the parents of Earl Vincent Rumble, Herbert Clarence Rumble, Marie Evelyn Rumble (Burns) (Achttien) (Thomson), Phebe Elisabeth Rumble (Aycock), Edna Frances Rumble (Johnson), Ruth Anna Rumble (Short), Elisabeth Lucile ("Betty") Rumble (Russell) (Helsel), and Pearl Marguerite Rumble (Miri

RAYMOND
Raymond William Short, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Short was born in Wray, Colo., and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1968. He was retired from the Air Force and was a member of the Mississippi City United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Ruth Wyatt Short.
Survivors include two sons, Greg Short of Blythe, Calif., and David Short of Austin, Texas; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.

" Mrs. Eva Ruth Short, 76, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Short was born in Escatawpa and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1968. She was a member of Mississippi City United Methodist Church and the Dorcas Ladies Circle at the church. She was also a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond W. Short of Gulfport; and two sisters, Eula Wyatt of Pensacola and Verna Sevedge of Ocala, Fla.
