Hattie Nichols BIRTH 1865 DEATH 1954 BURIAL Grandview Cemetery Wray, Yuma County, Colorado, MEMORIAL ID 68940201.
"Hattie Wykoff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wykoff of Cane County, Ill., was born January 21, 1865. She left this life, following an illness of a few months, on Jan. 9, 1954, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 19 days.
During her early youth she moved to Lincoln County, Kan., where she finished her schooling. She was united in marriage to Seneca Seymour, Jan. 1, 1882. To this union nine children were born, all of whom survive her except one son, Roy, who gave his life for his country in the first World War. In June of 1908 she was united in marriage to William H. Nichols.
Shortly thereafter, she with her family came to Colorado in a covered wagon over the Smokey Hill Trail. They homesteaded 20 miles west of Wray at the head of the Republican river.
In 1929 they retired from the ranch to make their home in Wray, where they have lived ever since. Mrs. Nichols met life with the typical courage and resourcefulness of those early pioneer mothers who followed their husbands westward in the settling of our country. Strengthening her in this was a deep religious faith. She was a member of the Methodist church from her youth. Her hobby was working in the church and its women's organizations. She was a devoted wife and a kind and loving mother. She lived to hold in her arms the youngest of five generations.

Salter of Wray, Mrs. Doll S. Thurmond and Mrs. Glenn Snyder, both of Chula Vista, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Cunningham of Denver; by four sons: Erve Seymour of Salina, Kan., John Seymour of Phoenix, Ariz., Charlie Seymour, Billings, Mont., and Arthur Seymour of San Francisco, Calif.
