In 1880 Owen P. Dyar is a laborer for J.L. Meritt in Lincoln, Union County, Iowa.
One Ancestry tree has Owen Padgett Dyar marrying Isabel Bellew October 16, 188w in Creston Iowa It says she was born Febriary 27, 1861 in Vinton County, Ohio (same county as James Lay)
One Ancestry tree has Isabelle's parents as Samuel and Maggie CARNS Bellew. Siblings were Eliza RIGGS, Mary Habe (sic) Bellew, Nancy A. Bellew, and Noah Bellew
In 1885 he's married, living in Mills County, Iowa
The East Yuma County history book says that O.P arrived in February 1888.
Owen Dyar claimed land in 1N 42W on a homestead in 1895 and in 1899 an adjoining "tree claim." This was about three miles from his brother-in-law James and Mary Lay's claim.
November 1899 "O.P. Dyar and J.L. Lay brought the ballot box and election news of Laird precinct to Yuma Tuesday night."
The 1900 census has Owen May 1852 in Indiana, Isabell February 1861 in Ohio, Buna A. 1885 in Iowa, Ivy January 1889 in Iowa, and Owen P. August 1895 in Colorado.
In 1906 Buna was a teacher - at least enrolled in a Teachers' Institue in Wray.
August 1909 "Mrs. and Mrs. Noah Bellew, of Turin, Kansas are visiting in the O.P Dyar home. Mr. Bellew is a brother of Mrs. Dyar."
In 1910 they're all in Wray, where "Olin" is a retail merchant. Buna is a saleslady for women's furnishings.
Also in 1910, young Owen was fined $5 for shooting within the town of Wray. "The parents refused to pay the fine and so the boys were compelled to work on the streets for a few days."
In December 1910 "The Misses Buna Dyar and Emma Williams went to Omaha Sunday evening where they will spend the greater part of this week visiting Miss Ivo Dyar who is taking a trained nurse course in an Omaha hospital, and where Miss Williams will also have her eyes treated."
October 1913 
In 1914, when Sisson sold his clothing company in Wray, "Miss Buna Dyar will keep her place in the ladies' furnishing department"

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Lay, of Baggs, Wyoming, who were visiting at the Dyar home
last week, are visiting at Laird this week. They expect to return to their home
in a few days. Mr. Lay is a nephew of Mrs. Dyar.
April 1916. Mrs. Isabel Dyar left Saturday evening for a visit with her sister, Mrs. James Lay, of Laird. Mrs. Dyar will return to Wray, however, before she goes to join her daughter, Miss Buna, in their new home at Fort Morgan."
June 1916 "Mrs. Isabel Dyar came down from Fort Morgan Monday evening on business and to attend Decoradion Day services. She went to Laird Tuesday evening for a short visit with her sister, Mrs. James Lay, and returned yesterday noon. She will remain for a few days in Wary and is a guest in the F.B. Williams. home."
Also in 1916, the Wray paper said that Buna was working at the Crouch Bros. store in Fort Morgan.
The 1920 census of Fort Morgan has only Isabel - widowed - and "Ina B." 28, a "trained nurse" living with her.
In Wray 1923 "The ladies of Chapter AA, P.E.O., entertained Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E. M. Hedrick in honor of Miss Buna Dyar of Fort Morgan. The afternoon was delightfully spent in a social way. Refreshments were served. Miss Dyar is a member of the Fort Morgan chapter."
The 1930 census has them still in Fort Morgan. "Ivo" is a nurse manager at a hospital, and they have eight lodgers.
In 1940 Buna A., 55, is a wholesaler for a handkerchief manufacturer, living on Rawlins Avenue in Dallas, Texas. . In 1935 she had been living in Oklahoma City. In 1937 OKC she had "Dyar Handkerchief Company."

In 1944 Buna is a saleswoman at Hinkel's in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Buna 1958 and Ivo 1968 are buried in the Fort Morgan cemetery.
January 1914 "Owen Dyar returned home Saturday from Wichita, Kansas, where he was attending a school of pharmacy. He has completed his course of study, and will remain in Wray for the present, at least."
February 1916 he wrote his mother and sister "has been away from Wray over two years engaged in his profession as a pharmacist and has lately resigned his position in Chicago and accepted a position in a drug business in Fremont, Neb., where he was formerly employed."
February 1916 "Owen Dyar arrivid Friday from Fremont, Nebraska, and is visiting with his mother and sister, Mrs. Isabel Dyar and Miss Buna. He expects to remain in Wray for about a month, as his employer in Fremont is at present erecting anew building for a branch business of his drug store of which Owen will take charge upon its completion."

Owen Pence Dyar registered for WWI in Akron, Washington County. He said he
was born in Wray August 27, 1893. He's a pharmacist working for N. K. Van
Liew? He's still in Akron in 1920..
June 22, 1923 he married Mina B. Zerkle in Denver
In 1922 Akron "Miss Ruth Zirkle of New York left Tuesday for Denver, to visit her parents. Miss Zirkle has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. O.P. Dyar."
Also in 1922, Mina Dyar was elected secretary of the Fortnightly club. O.P. Dyar was among the delegates to the Republican Assembly held in Sterling. From there O.P went on the Laramie, Wyoming to attend the Druggists Convention.
In 1930 he's in Denver, married to Mina B with William O. 8 and Margaret I. seven months. Owen is a salesman for a drug store. Mina B. Zirkle, school teacher in 1920 Denver, living with Homer W. and Grace A. Zirkle.
One Ancestry tree says Mina died in 1940 in Hayden (near Craig) and is buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Denver.
In 1940 Craig, Colorado he's Owen "Dyer" , druggist, widowed, with William and Margaret living with him.

William Owen Dyar's obituary said he was born April 20, 1821 in Fort Morgan (maybe because his aunt worked in the hospital?)His spouse was Charlotte Ledford, and children named Andrea Lynne Dyar of Grand Junction, William Owen Dyar, Jr. of Redding CT (?), and James Pence Dyar of Redding CA. Sibling was Margaret Ellsworth. He died June 2012 in Grand Junction.

Margaret Dyar Ellsworth September 14, 1929 - October 1, 2008 Margaret
Dyar Ellsworth passed away at her home in Cedaredge, CO on October 1,
2008. She was 79 years of age. A memorial service will be held at a
later date. Margaret Dyar was born at Denver, Colorado, on September 14,
1929 to Owen P. and Mina Belle (Zirkle) Dyar. Margaret spent her
childhood at Craig, Colorado graduating from Craig High School in 1948.
She then attended the University of Wyoming for one year and then went
to St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado,
receiving her degree as a registered nurse. On September 27, 1953
Margaret married her heart's companion, Philip Ellsworth in Craig,
Colorado. He survives. Margaret had lived in Cedaredge, Colorado for the
last 17 years; coming from Bethany, Oklahoma. She lived in Bethany for
31 years. A member of the Unitarian Church of Grand Junction, Colorado,
she was also a member of the Surface Creek Valley Historical Society
(Volunteer Curator, Past President); Delta County League of Women Voters
(Past President); Delta Doves, and the Cedaredge Literary Club. Besides
loving her family and friends, her interests were preserving the history
of the Surface Creek Valley and enjoying the beauty that surrounds us.
Those grateful to have shared in her life, including her husband, Philip
Ellsworth of Cedaredge; one son, Philip Dyar Ellsworth (Rebecca) of
Casper, Wyoming; two daughters, Ruth Ellsworth Carter (Bill) of Austin,
Texas, and Carolyn Belinda Ellsworth of Cedaredge; one brother, William
O. Dyar of Grand Junction, Colorado; granddaughter, Gina Marie Andrews
of Washington, OK; two grandsons, James William Uhlenhake of Noble, OK;
and Carter Anthony Richards of Cedaredge, CO; and one great grandson,
Owen Philip Andrews of Washington, OK. She was preceded in death by her
parents. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral

| Visitors From Ohio Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Washburn, Mrs. R. P. Gibson and Mrs. Harry Simes, all of Nelsonville, Ohio, came Sunday for a visit with Uncle Noah Bellew and the Boles families. Mrs. Gibson is a sister of Mr. Bellew. The motored through from Nelsonville in three and one half days and said they drove on pavements from their home town to Topeka, and on sections of pavement from there here. 1900 Kingfisher Oklahoma has a Nancy A. Johnston born November 1852 in Ohio, married to Safety M. Johnston 52. They have James W. 24, Samuel W. 21, and George C. 10. They had been in Union County Iowa in 1880. and 1885. they're sin Kingfisher in 1930 and are buried in the Kingfisher cemetery. 5. OLIVER P. MORTON2 BOLES (SAMUEL PATTERSON1) was born 31 July 1864
in Lexington, Scott County, Indiana, and died 02 March 1961 in
Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. He married LOUISA BELLE BELLEW 23
September 1887 in "The Home of Noah Bellew" Reno County, Kansas. |
