Edward Jackson Palmer


William Palmer and (Mary) Elizabeth Gurney married in Leominnster, Massachusetts November 22, 1842.

Edwin Washington Palmer and Edward Jackson Palmer, "Couplets", were born February 10, 1845 in Leominster, Massachusetts to William and Mary E. Palmer. William was a laborer.


In 1855 Worcester County, Massachusetts, William Palmer is 53, Mary E. 38, Edward J. and Edwin W. both 10, and Daniel G. 6.


In 1895 E. J. Palmer was in the Yuma G.A.R. Post, a private in the 7th Massachusetts Battery.

Edward J. Palmer proved up a quarter in 23, 3N 47W in 1896.


He might be the E.J. Palmer in 1880 Pueblo, Colorado, age 40, single, born in Massachusetts, boarding with a family.

This might be another one - but unlikely to be the farmer in Yuma - in 1882 Denver Edward J. Palmer is proprietor of a steam laundry, living at 331 Holladay.

Edward J. Palmer divorced Jennie A. Palmer in Denver on September 12, 1883.
Jennie A. Palmer married Charles H. Shiek September 27, 1883, recorded in Denver.


In 1890 Edward filed for an invalid pension, from Colorado, for service in the 7th Batty, Massa L.A. and H and A, of the 33rd U.S. Infantry.


Edward's Leavenworth history says he enlisted at Sterling Massachusetts, serving in the 7th Mass Battery, discharged Boston Harbon November 10, 1865. He re-inlisted Dec 20, 1866 at Boston, serving in A, 33rd U.S. Infantry, discharged De 30, 1869.

Edwin served in the 53rd Mass Infantry, discharged 1863 and in the ??Mass, discharged 1865. He died February 23, 1917,, per the Sawtelle Home register.

He lived at Greeley, Colordo before he arrived at Leavenworth Mary 28, 1897, and discharged June 14, 1908.
His nearest relative was Daniel G. Palmer of Boston, a brother.


In 1903 the National Tribune carried an advertisement "WANTED - The address of Edwin W. Palmer of the 7th Mass Lith Art Vols, by Edward J. Palmer, 412 "Harr??on bt, Mt. Vernon I..?
