Yuma County Pioneer Photographs:

Isaac and Adelia McGee

Born in Ohio, USA on 16 Aug 1842 to George McGee and Mary Smart. Isaac S married Delia O Conner in Tama County, Iowa in 1868 and had 5 children.

O'Connor, Adelia McGee, Isaac S. 19 May1868 C. J. G. Lowery

The 1870 Tama County census has Isaac 26, Cadeline 22, Mary 2, and John 7 (this last seems inconsistent

The 1880 Tama County, Iowa has Isaac 37, Adelia 34, Mary E. 11, John J. 10, Sarah 5, Bridget 4, and Samuel 1.

The 1885 Benton County Iowa census has Isaac McGee 42, Adelia 41, Mary 14, John 12, and Sarah 8.

Daniel Metz cash-claimed two quarters next to Philip Metz's in 5N 46W in 1890. - and it's almost certain that the adjoining claims of Isaac McGee and Isaac S. McGee, both cash claims in 1890 - are Mary's father's.

The Mary O'Conner claim two miles south - about the same time - might be connected.

I descend from Mary Smart who married George McGee in Delaware County, OH 19
April 1838. She died 28 Jan 1849. Her brothers may be Isaac, William, Daniel
K, John and Joseph, sister Susan. There was a William Smart who came form PA
and was born abt 1804. His tombstone reads "Col. William Smart". There is a
Joseph Smart b. abt. 1776 buried close to William.

Some of the families that may be connected are: Davids, Stewart, Foos, Smith,
McGee, Rogers. When Mary died in 1849, the children were slit up among other
families. The children are found in the 1850 census in several townships in
Delaware County living with these families. In later generations when other
McGee mothers die the children go to live with the wife's family(ies). I hope
this is true for this generation too.

I hope someone has this family too!

My ggrandfather, Hugh Morris MCGEE, was born in Delaware County 19 Sept 1840. His parents are George MCGEE (son of Hugh?) and Mary SMART. The children of this couple are: William, H.M., Isaac, Sarah Jane, and Emmaline. Mary died prior to the 1850 census as the children are scattered among other families. William was with the William FOOS family, Hugh was with the David DAVIDS family, Isaac was with Mary SMITH, and Emiline (Emmaline) was with the Benjamin ROGERS family. William, Isaac and Emmaline are in Scioto Twp. and Hugh is in Radnor Twp.

Hugh Morris MCGEE married Elnora LYONS in Union County, OH 1861. She is the daughter of Mary LYONS.

I would be happy to share information and make contact with other researchers of these lines.

I'm looking for any information I can find about my Grandfather's family. His name was William Isaac McGee and I believe he was born in the Boulder area of Colorado on May 7th. of 1916. His parents were Julia Dalton and John McGee. My Grandpa never knew a lot about his family...he was raised by his Aunt Mary (They called her "Molly" and I believe she was his mother's sister)) from a very young age(2-5 years old) because his mother died. I have no info about his father and don't why his father didn't raise him. My Grandpa had lots of siblings, but the only ones I ever heard about were two of his sisters, Dove and Mary-Katherine, and his brother, Samuel. He maried my grandma, Helen Joyce Hopkins in 1936. My grandparents moved from Nederland, CO to Medford, OR in 1950. They both lived here until their deaths. They had 5 children and were married for 53 years when Grandpa died in 1989. Grandma passed in Sept. of 2006

In 1896 Boulder County a John McGee married Julia Dalton.

In 1900 Boulder County (because Isaac was in the same county ( J.J. McGee 28, Julia 23, Mabel 2, Frances 1, and Loretta eight months.) is a good possibility.

In 1900 Boulder County is Isaac 59, Adilia 51, Samuel 20, Casse 23, and William 14.

In 1910 Boulder County Isaac S. is 67, Adelia is 60, and WIllile I. is 23

In 1920 Boulder County Isaac S. is 77, Adelia 70, William I 34, and Samuel J. 8

1900 Boulder County has a Daniel Metz, born April 1859 in Pennsylvania, with Mary 1864 in Iowa, and  George March 1889 in Colorado

January 1902 J.C. Bayless wrote from Boulder "Dan Metz, who formerly lived near 'Old Baldy' has the street car running at this time in front of his door, greatly increasing the value of his property."

They're still in Boulder County in 1910, and Daniel is a county overseer.

In 1920 Boulder County Daniel doesn't have an occupation , and George is a steward at the Elks Home.

John McGee is also in Boulder in 1920, widowed, living with his brother-in-law Daniel Metz.

In 1910 Boulder County is a John J. Metz 40, Julia 31, Mabel 13, Francis 11, DeliahM. 8, Johnie J. 4, George I. 2, and Thelma G. nine months.

Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder, has a Daniel Metz with a death date of February 11, 1926, Mary Metz February 2, 1950, and George I. Metz April 9, 1954. (also a Reta Edna Metz September 1939)

In 1930 Boulder Mary is widowed, and has her 13-year-old nephew Billie McGee living with her

In 1940 Mary is living alone.
