In 1895 Republic County, Kansas, "Rebt" Dixon is 42, Swinoda 30, with W.R. 14, Leslie 10, Earl 8, L.M. 6, Frank 4, and G.N. 2.
In 1900 Republic County, Robert is a farm laborer, born June 1852 in Pennsylvania, married 21 years to Lorinda, Dec 1862 in Missouri. She's had ten children, nine living. William R. June 1880 in Nebraska, John L. March 1883 Nebraska (THIS MUST BE LESLIE), Earl N. March 1885 Nebraska, Lola M. Dec 1888 Nebraska, Charles F. April 1891 Nebraska, Gladys N. March 1893 Kansas, Elizabeth L. March 1895 Kansas, Minnie L. May 1897 Kansas, and Veda M. April 1900 Kansas. Elizabeth J. Johnson, mother-in-law Aug 1843 in Ohio, is with them.
Minnie "born May 6, 1897 in Mundon, Kansas, came to Colorado with her father, four brothers, and five sisters in 1910, where her father homesteaded north of Eckley."

Robert 1858-1910 # 41927719 and Lorinda 1862-1904 are buried in Ashland, Saunders County, Nebraska.
Lorinda Johnson Dixon. Robert was born in PA in 1852 to Jonathan and Mary
E. Dixon. He was married to Lorinda Johnson in Lancastor Co., NE. They lived in
Republic Co., KS and both died in this county, Robert in 1910 and Lorinda in
1904. Both are buried with Lorinda's parents, Col. John and Elizabeth Jane
Johnson in Ashland Cemetery, in Ashland, NE. Robert's son, John Leslie Dixon
moved to Yuma Co., CO and after the death of Lorinda, Robert and the younger
children also moved to Yuma Co., CO. For some reason, Robert moved back to
Republic Co., KS, shortly prior to his death, as his death is recorded in
Republic Co., KS. Anyone knowing anything of this family, would love to share
info.

Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson at Rest--Widow of the late Colonel John Johnson, died at he home of her daughter, Mrs. Revis, Sunday, August 9th, 1914. Interment in Ashland, Nebraska cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born in Clinton, Ohio, Aug 1839. She was married to Colonel John Johnson at Marble, Missouri in 1861 and came to Nebraska in 1863. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Baptist Church at the time of its organization and was one of the converts to be baptized in Salt Creek. She leaves two daughters and their families to mourn her death, Mrs. J.E. Smith and Mrs. S.N. Revis. Her oldest daughter Lorinda Dixon died in Belleville, Kansas Sep.19, 1905. # 16257582 |

Grace Dixon married John E. Good August 9, 1920, recorded in Yuma County. From his mother's obituary, he had enlisted in the Navy.
In 1930 Denver, John E. Good is a car salesman, 30, born in Colorado, Grace 30, Kansas. They have Ethel A. 8, Donald 7, and Gilbert 5, all kids born in Colorado.
In 1900 Idalia precinct, William E. Good is 33, Emma L. 33, Ina E. 9, Jennie M. 7, Jacob J. 4, and John E. 1.
Ellsworth John Good was with his parents farming in Wray precinct in 1910, 11. William E. is farming, Ella L. , both 43 born in Iowa. Ina E. is 19, Jennie K 17, Jackson J. 14, Clara G. 8, Charles E. 6, Earle W. 2, and Herald three months.
In 1948 Denver, John E. (Grace M.) has an auto body shop at 511 Broadway, living at 1581 S. Vine. Gilbert E. is an office manager for John, but lives at 619 Madison.
John Ellsworth Good died on 15-Dec-1970 at Denver, Denver County, Colorado, at age 71

In 1913 "Leslie Dixon, one of the adult heirs of Robert Dixon, deceased, of Eckley, who made homestead entry in 1909 for west half of the NW of 15, 3N 46W" filed for three-year-proof, witnesses Roscoe A. Greenfield, George J. Stone, James L. Eacret, and Frank W. Barnes.
Wray 1913 "Minnie Dixon went up to Eckley Saturday to visit with two brothers for a few weeks."
Leslie proved up a quarter in 3, 3N 46W in 1913.
Earl proved up 320 acres in 14 and 15, 3N 46W in 1914.
In 1920 Dundy County, Nebraska, Earl - a garage mechanic - 34 and "Gerkie" I. 31 have Agnes 10, Robert W. 7, Colorado Earl E. 5, Colorado, Milford N. 3, Kansas and Elle Irene four months, Nebraska.
Ella Irene Dixon 1919-1929 is buried in Haigler.

In 1934 Belleville, Kansas "Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dixon from Haigler, Neb., were supper guests of her cousin Floyd Howard and family last Monday.

Gladys Dixon married Frank Brown March 22, 1916, recorded in Yuma County.
In 1920 Valley precinct, Yuma County, Frank A. is farming 25, born in Colorado, with Gladys 26. They have Lamon 2 and Melvin eleven months.
They're there in 1930
In 1940 all four are in Wray, on North Railway Street, Frank a farm laborer.
Francis Arthur "Frank" Brown 1894-1978 is buried in Wray # 17036078, with "Gladess" Naomi Dixon Brown 1893-1976 # 17036125.
Melvin DIXON Brown 1919-1965 is buried in Fort Logan # 424248.
James D. Brown, born January 21, 1893, married Dorothy McCartney in May 1942, died April 23, 1983, buried in Wray.
MINNIE
Minnie Dixon married Frank Dilka April 21, 1916, recorded in Yuma County.
1917 "Mrs. Frank Dixon returned to her home in McCook, Nebraska after a visit with her sisters Mesdames Frank Brown, of seven miles south of Wray, and Ferdinand Foltmer and Frank Dilka, of near Vernon."
In 1940 Frank A. Dilka 51 and Minnia Lena Dilka, 42, are in Rock Creek precinct, Washington County, with Cleo Clifford 23, Frank 19, Lavern 17, VernaDeane 14, and Rita Mae 11.
Their seven children were Cleo, Eva (Korf), Lela (Korf), Frank, Robert, Vernadeane (Allen) and Rita (Friend).
Eva O. Dilka married Frederick J. Korf April 21, 1937, recorded in Yuma County.
Lela Fen (should be Fern) Dilka married Lloyd Henry Korf January 17, 1938, recorded in Logan County. Lela was born July 4, 1919 to Frank Louis and Minnie Lena Dixon Dilka at her grandparent's home near Vernon.
JOHN LESLIE DIXON
John 1883-1928 and Henrietta Lucille (Sowers) Dixon
Retta Brinkerhoff passed away in the Dundy County Hospital in
Benkelman on Thursday morning, Nov. 3, 1977 at the age of 89 years and 2
months; She was born August 12, 1888 to George and Mary Sowers in Table
Rock Nebr. Retta was married to John L. Dixon in 1906, Four children were born in this union. Mr. Dixon passed away in 1928. In 1931 Retta and Charles W. Brinkerhoff were married. Mrs. Brinkerhoff and her husband Charles operated a grocery store in Parks for several years and she was a correspondent for The Post during her active years. She was a member of the United Methodist church, and had received a 50 year pin as member of United Methodist Women. Mrs. Brinkerhoff was a member of the Extension Club of Parks. Both husbands preceded her in death along with her parents, three sisters Jessie, Kate, and Hope; two brothers George and Harry Sowers; 2 sons, James and Bobby Dixon; a step daughter Elise Richardson : and a step son, Louis Brinkerhoff. Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Lillie White of Haigler, Nebr. and Mrs. Lucille Doucet of Golf, six grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kidwell and family of Fullerton, Calif; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hanson and family of Woodrow, Colo; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Herring and family of Vallejo, Ca!if.;.Mr. and Mrs, Leslie White and family of Haigler; Mr. and Mrs. Rodney White and family of Wray, Colo. Dallas Dixon of Louisiana and 21 great-grandchildren. |
Robert Franklin Dixon, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dixon, was born
near Haigler, NE.,August 1, 1918 and departed this life in the early morning
hours of February 3, 1925; age 6 yrs, 5 mos, and 26 days.
To know Bobbie was to love him. He leaves to mourn his departure a father,
mother, two sisters, and one brother. After brief services at the house and
Pilgrim Holiness Church, conducted by Rev. R. O. Musses, he was laid to rest in
the Haigler Cemetery. The heartfelt sympathy of all neighbors and friends go out
to the sorrowing family
Leslie James Dixon was the son of Mrs. C.W. Brinkerhoff and the late John L
Dixon. He was born near Eckley CO., Sept. 12, 1912 and left this life May 25,
1961 due to a hit-and-run near Dundee, OR.
He leaves to mourn his mother and step-father C.W. Brinkerhoff, 2 sisters and
one son.
