In 1900 Helen is in Phillips County, Kansas. widowed, living with her brother Charles V. Bradley.

In 1910 Magee Precinct Stillwell S. Patterson, 41, Missouri, and Georgana 33, Kansas have Bruce A. 14, and Harold O. 8, both born in Kansas.

In the next household are Charles E. 32, Kansas, and his mother Helen J. 58 Michigan Helen has had nine children, five of which are living.

Both Charles and Stillwell homesteaded in 5 N 46 W - proving up in 1913. "Shrud" Patterson was among the families whose children attended the Wages school.

In 1920 Charles. and Helen are living in Haxtun - where he is a carpenter. He had registered for WWI as a carpenter in Haxtun.

Stillwell and "G. Anna" are in the 1922 Fort Collins directory. Stillwell is a carpenter for Ralph Bonham.

In 1922 the homestead land is not in their names, so Charles and Stillwell sold their land soon after "proving up."

In 1930 Stillwell and Georgiana are in Fort Collins. Stillwell is bedridden, and Georgiana does laundry.

Charley is in North Platte, Nebraska in 1930, working as a laborer. He's married to Myrtle, 46. Myrtle said she as 15 at her first marriage, Charley 44. With them is Buella B, 14, born in Nebraska.

1938 Bryant community items "Mr. and Mrs. Charles Patterson and son, Julian, were Sunday dinner guests at the Babe Sturgis home."
Mrs. Frank Freemyer and daughters and Mrs. Charles Patterson were visitors in Haxtun."

September 1938 "Mrs. Charles Patterson entertained a large crowd at a party in honor of her daughter, Mrs. Bob Sturgis, birthday."
"Mrs. Bob Sturgis and Mrs. Lester Lambert helped their mother, Mrs. Chas. Patterson, cook for threshers Monday of last week."

1939 "Mrs. Charles Patterson's sister and family of Woodriver, Nebraska, who had been visiting with her for a week, left Tuesday to continue their trip to Oregon."

In 1940 "Charley" and Myrtle are back in Yuma County - by the neighbors' names they were about half-way between Yuma and Haxtun. Charley is farming. Myrtle is 55, born in Nebraska. they said they were living in the same place in 1935, but they're not in the 1934 or 1937 directories.

Stepson Julian Bernood is living with them - he's 25, born in Nebraska.

One Ancestry tree says Myrtle Rose Sheeks was born May 30, 1885 in Schuyler, Nebraska, and married Philip Burmood in 1898.

In 1900 they're in La Grande, Oregon, with James, 2.

In 1920 Philip L. Burmood 46, a mechanic, and Myrtle 35 are in Haxtun. They have James W. 19, a truck driver, Gertrude 18, Nemier L. 11, Julia 4, Julian 6, and Buela B. four. The first four kids were born in Oregon, the last two in Nebraska.

In 1910 they had been in Summerville, Oregon.

JULIA BAUER

Julia Wilma (Burmood) Bauer, 89, Haxtun, died Thursday, February 17, 2000, in Haxtun.

Julia was born March 5, 1910 in Summerville, OR, to Myrtle Della (Sheeks) and Phillip L. Burmood. She moved with her family to Nebraska when she was three years old. Two years later, in 1915, the family moved to a farm north of Haxtun.

On December 12, 1950, Julia married to Walter G. Bauer and they made their home in Haxtun. It was her third marriage. She operated a cafe in Haxtun for a short time. She enjoyed baking, reading and tending her flowers. She was a hard worker, helping on the farm, milking cows, selling cream, and making a living.

Julia is survived by daughters, Marcelene Fry and husband John, Nebraska, and Susan Howard and husband Jerry, Montana; sons Jim Flower and wife Jackie, Florida, Jerry Lambert and wife Rose, Colorado, and Lydell Lambert and wife Teresa, also of Colorado; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bauer, in 1975.

Funeral services were conducted at Church of the Brethren, Haxtun, on Tuesday, February 22, with Rev. Roy Pfaltzgraff officiating.

Funeral services for Lester Lambert, 86, of Sterling, were Thursday, Nov.18, at the Church of the Brethren in Haxtun. The Roy Pfaltzgraff officiated. Burial was at Haxtun Cemetery.
Mr. Lambert died Tuesday, Nov.17, 1992, in Sterling.
He was born June 12, 1906, to Frank and Ethel Linscott Lambert on their farm north of Dailey, He attended Concord School northeast of Fleming.
Mr. Lambert then started farming, and later he worked for the railroad.
During WWII, he served in the Army and was based in Kentucky. While in Kentucky, he met Corinna Baker and they were married Dec.5, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky.
The couple moved to Colorado in 1943 after Mr. Lambert's discharge from the Army. He worked for his brother, who lived in Yuma County, before moving to Crook to work for as implement company.
The Lamberts later moved to the Haxtun area and farmed until 1965, when they moved into Haxtun.
Survivors include a brother Harold and wife Ethel if Greeley; five sisters, Edna Frese of Crook; Iva Davis and husband Harold of Linden, Calif; Myrtle Weers and husband Harold of Longmont; Dorothy Sturges and husband Bob of Sturgis, Calif; Helen Pettit and husband Lester of Northglenn; a sister-in-law Lorene Lambert of Sterling; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Corinna, on Dec 31, 1989, and five brothers, Wallace, Walker, Lloyd, Troy, and Lyle.

Lydell S. Lambert, 75, of Sterling, died Jan. 18, 2011, in Littleton. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Peace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Eugene Zeller officiating. Services will conclude at the church.

Mr. Lambert was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Haxtun to Wallace and Julia (Burmood) Lambert. He grew up in Haxtun and attended schools there.

He entered the U.S. Army and served for two tours of duty before his honorable discharge. He worked for Sterling Construction from 1955 until his death.

On Feb. 10, 1993, he married Theresa Temple in Brush.

Mr. Lambert was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336 and the American Legion Post No. 20 in Sterling. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Lambert of Sterling; stepchildren, BeLinda Ann Dobbins of Missouri, Deboraha Jo Phillips of Grand Junction, Felicia Lynn Hielscher of Sterling, Melissa Rene Taylor of Grand Junction, Ronald Eugene Hielscher of Burlington, Pauline May Hielscher of Savanah, Mo.; daughter, Kim Westerman of Brighton; brother, Jerry Lambert of Erie; half-brother, Ray Lambert of Sterling; three nephews; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lambert was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Julia Lambert; and sister, Marclene.

Nemier L. Burmood - June 8, 1908 - November 20, 1983 is buried with Darrell L. Burmood - 1932-1986 in Yakima Washington

James Wesley Burmood registered for WWI in Haxtun, saying he was born April 6, 1900

He enlisted as a warrant officer in Portland July 2, 1942, saying he lived in Oregon, and was divorced with dependents. He died July 1978 in Marin County, California, with a ssn issued in Illinois.

In 1942 Charles Earnest Patterson was working in a shipyard near Portland - he said he was born in Kirwin Kansas April 22, 1878.

Sunday April 15, 1934

"Suffering an illness which kept him in bed the last six years of his life, S.S. Patterson, 65, died at his home, 129 Remington Street, at 3:39 Saturday morning. Multiple neuphritis was given as the cause of his death.

Tho long a sufferer, Mr. Patterson was noted among his many friends for his cheerfulness. Had Mr. Patterson lived, Mr. and Mrs. Patterson would have observed their fortieth wedding anniversary, June 18th.
The couple married at Frankfort, Kansas and lived in eastern Colorado before coming to Fort Collins 16 years ago.
Mr. Patterson followed the trade of carpenter, before his illness.

He was born at Savannah, Missouri , November 15, 1868.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Patterson have been active in the Second Presbyterian church here.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Anna Kassienger Patterson, who has nursed him thru his long illness, Mr. Patterson is survived by two sons, Bruce and Harold Patterson, a sister, Mrs. John(Ida) Townsend, all of Fort Collins and by a brother Charles E. Patterson of Haxtun, Colorado and by four grandsons.

Born in Branch Co. MI, the daughter of Aaron and Sally Babbitt Bradley. She was married to Joshua Patterson in Whiteside Co. IL in 1861.

"Helen J. Bradley, born at Battle Creek, Michigan, Jan. 19, 1842, died Jan. 5 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Townsend at the age of 83 years, was married to Joshua S. Patterson at Morrison, Illinois in 1861. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. O.A. Kinkaid, a brother, C.D. Bradley and five children, S.G. Patterson of St. Louis, Illinois; S.S. Patterson, Chas. E. Patterson, and Ida E. Townsend of Fort Collins, Mrs. Leona B. Young of San Bernadino, California; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She united with the Methodist church when a young woman and was always a devout Christian. She was a devoted mother and a friend to everyone, and was loved by all who knew her."

Per the EXPRESS COURIER, Fort Collins, Tuesday, January 6, 1924:
"Mrs. Patterson Dies at Home on College Ave."
Mrs. Helen J. Patterson, 82 years old, died Monday night at 11 o'clock at her home three miles north on College Ave. She was the mother of Mrs. Ida Townsend.
The funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock at Balmer's mortuary."

Leona Patterson, Helen's daughter, married Elmer Young, whose sons Vernie 1892, Floyd 1895, and Cecil 1897 were all near Haxtun when registering for WWI.

In 1920 Samuel G. Patterson , 53 and Sophia 51, are living in Haxtun - living with them is Catherine Williams, 13, step-daughter, born Illinois.
