EDWARD and LULA (Clevenger) PARKS

Edward E Parks homesteaded a couple miles southeast of Wages in 1913.  and in 1921 had added another quarter.  Henry H. Parks had a timber claim about ten miles southeast in 1903 -

4 generation photo taken abt 1905. Otha was born in MO Dec 1904. All parties there in this year. People in order are James Allen, Edward Elmer, holding Otha Raymond, and George Wesley Parks - Thanks to Terrio44

In 1910 Yuma County Edward E, 31 and Lulu M. 25 have Otha R. 5.

Edward registered in Yuma County, saying he was born April 9, 1879

In 1920 Edward E. and Lula M. 35 have Otha R. 15, Lesley A. 8, Eva I. 5, and Union Clevenger 79.

In 1930 Valley Precinct, Yuma County Edward E. said he's widowed, with Leslie A. 18 and Eva I. 15.

In 1940 Eckley Edward E. is 60, farming, Esther  is 33, with LaVerne Perkins, 12, and Virgil Perkins, 10, both born in Nebraska, with them

Edward Parks, resident of Yuma county and the past 35 years, died at a hospital in Pueblo, November 25. The body was brought to the Morris Mortuary, and funeral service was held at Eckley, Wednesday afternoon, November 29. Burial was made in the U.B. Cemetery northwest of Eckley.

Edward Elmore Parks was born to George and Mary Parks, April 10, 1879, in Gentry county, Missouri. He was the eldest of nine children. In December, 1902, he was united in marriage to Lula Clevenger, and to this union three children were born: Otho, of Holyoke, and Lesley, address unknown, and Mrs. Eva Mutchie, Holyoke. From Missouri, he
moved to Admire, Kansas, where they made their home for several years, then went to Blue Hill, Nebraska.In 1909 they came to Yuma County and homesteaded north of Wray. A few months later his wife died. Later he was married to Mrs. Esther Perkins. Because of ill health they moved to Eckley in February, 1941, and Mr. Parks operated the Fairmont creamery for about two years until his health completely failed. He passed away at Pueblo, November 25, at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 16 days.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, two sons, Otho and Lesley, a daughter, Mrs. Eva Mutchie; three step-sons, Ralph Perkins of Camp Wolters, Texas; Laverne Perkins of Eckley; Virgil Perkins of Yuma; his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Parks of New Hampton, Missouri; five brothers and three sisters; ten grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a member of the U.B. church.

Eva Mutchie rites Oct. 31. Funeral services were held Monday, October 31, 1977 from the Church of the Nazarene in Holyoke, for Eva Iona Mutchie, 63, who passed away at her home on Friday, Oct, 28. Rev. Norman Dygon, minister, of the church, officiated at the services. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Thompson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Eva Parks Mutchie was born on Nov. 14, 1914 on a farm south of Holyoke. She spent most of her life
in and around Holyoke. She was united in marriage to C. Dean Mutchie on March 25, 1939, and to this union three sons were born, Vernon in 1940, Edward in 1943, and Darold in 1946. She was part owner and manager of the Rainbow Cafe
in Holyoke for the past three years. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Darold. She is survived by her husband, Dean; two sons, Vernon and Edward; one brother; five grandchildren, and a host of relatives and
friends.

Otha Parks married Virginia Ida Githues  (Githens) on August 3, 1928  She's probably the Virginia I Githens in 1920 Routt County with brother Louis - iIn 1930 Lewis is in Crook, Logan County with widowed mother Bessie Hockaday- so they must have moved.

In 1930 Otha is 25, married to Virginia Parks, 20, and they're living in Philips County
In 1940 they have Phyllis Elsine 9, Laurence Rancel 8, Quncie Irene 6, Rayont Lewis 4, and Sharon Rose 1.

One tree said Otha died November 1977 in Denver, and that Virginia was born December 29, 1909, in Buchanan County, Missouri, dying June 12, 1997 in Denver.


Lawrence R. Parks August 11, 1932- April 13, 1981 is buried in Fort Logan

Raymond L. Parks is in SSDI March 20, 1936 - January 19, 2009
